Youtube recommendations are funny. Got some u17 WC highlights where we beat Argentina in 2015.
I looked it up and Australia has hosted the U20 WC twice in 81 and 93. Does anyone remember any of that?
I was wondering why we'd never even seem to have made a modern day bid for either of the youth tournaments.
In the surface it seems UEFA aren't really interested in the U17 as Finland last hosted in 2003 while it's keenly a South American and Asian tournament seeing
South Korea, India and UAE Mexico, Nigeria, Chile, Brazil and Peru being the next host. I could go deeper into each one but India beat Ireland, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan for the 2017 one.
The U20 WC seems more popular with UEFA. There's isn't any official rotation. Indonesia are hosting 2021.
Australia is going for the women's world cup which is much bigger the the U20 so I guess around 2031 we can hopefully give it a go and have a few more boutique stadiums about.

AFC U19 championship is scheduled for October in Uzbekistan to qualify for the the 2021 U20 WC. Very slim chance it'll be held.

I was too young to remember 1993, but that is what I call a banger of a logo: The games in Adelaide were at Football Park, hope they handed out binoculars with the tickets. Australia losing the 3rd place playoff to England, good effort.

+xI was wondering why we'd never even seem to have made a modern day bid for either of the youth tournaments. Very good question. Let alone a FIFA tournament, we also haven't hosted an AFC or even an AFF youth tournament at any level of either gender since Lowy took over, so it obviously wasn't seen as a priority by his regime. Closest we got was the great idea of holding a qualifying group out in Shepparton one time, until the Liberal federal government interfered and shut it down to spite North Korea, which frankly should have earned us a sanction from FIFA.

Draw for the 2020 AFC U16 Championship live in about 20 minutes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6XVd6Qn-ECoApparently it's still going ahead in September? Gotta keep things on track for the U17 WC next year I guess.

+xI don’t think we are qualifying through this one. Hey we beat mighty Mongolia 2-1 on the way to this one (their two own goals might have helped).

Japan get group D with Indonesia, Saudi and China. We'd have to beat the winner or runner up from that group in the quarter final to qualify for the WC.

Good representation from ASEAN in this one, hope they're not all drawn into the same group again.

Rigged for Qatar
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Group C again, so we'd be playing against the winner or runner up of Group D (Qatar, Tajikistan, Malaysia and Yemen) in the quarter finals for a FIFA U21 WC spot, unless hosts Indonesia make the semis whereby the four quarter finals losers play off for the spot (should play them anyway for ranking and a chance for development, I reckon).

Hopefully enough time to get a few camps happening, maybe with a few new player inclusions to the list named above. I given the number of covid cases in Canberra, the AIS might be an option for longer camps. Nonetheless, looking forward to a strong campaign in both u16 and u19

Having seen so many young players play in the A-League restart - what would your Olyroos (1997-onwards) and Young Socceroos (2001-onwards) squads be if they were picked now??
Mine would be Olyroos: GK: Glover, Holmes, Maynard Brewer DF: Gersbach, Deng, Souttar, Atkinson, Ryan, Mourdoukoutas, Strain, King MF: McGree, Devlin, Baccus, Duncan, Genreau, O’Neill FW: Arzani, D’Agostino, Piscopo, A. Toure, Italiano, Iredale
Young Socceroos GK: Pavlesic, Calderbank Park, James DF: Powell, Natta, Pagden, Mlinaric, Courtney Perkins, Fay MF: D’Arrigo, Gomulka, Teague, Barnett, Watts, Kirdar, Popovic FW: Brook, Botic, Ruiz Diaz, Italiano, Lawrie Lattanzio, Hammond, Tilio

That said though, both of your teams are reasonable lineups.

Alexander Robertson, Murray Miller, Doni Grdic, Luka Prso, Philip Cancar, Alberto del Grosso, Cooper Skerry and Nicholas Bilokapic might get a look in for the Young Socceroos but none have ever had first team football so it’s hard to compare to Aussie based players. For the Olyroos, I left likes of Gabriel Cleur, Tyrese Francois and Daniel Bouman out among others but none really stick out compared to some of the players I included.
