I can also see how they shut down debate when it doesn’t suit them, and become violent activists when that doesn’t work.

I can see the leftists believe in free speech providing it is their cause the free speech supports.

Surely you can't be that thick?  It's the 'right' in this instance that are picking and choosing not the 'left'.

The blokes that are defending Folau are a joke and unprincipled scum because whilst they're happy to defend his rights in this instance they didn't afford the same courtesy to others.  (Which, if they're principled and have integrity with regards freedom of expression, they should have.)

This is the crux of it..

If Miranda Devine, Andrew Bolt, etc came out and said something like: "what Yasmin said was distasteful and opportunistic and she should be criticised BUT as a proponent of free speech I will defend her right to say these things" then I wouldn't have an issue with their support of Folou.

It irrefutably demonstrates that these big name conservative commentators don't give a flying fuck about free speech. All they care about is the rising influence of LGBTQ discourse within mainstream society and the decline of traditional religious influence in everyday life.

There is no way this guy isn't trolling.

Its just not possible. No way.

I bet he's not even christian.  He just uses it as an avenue to string idiots like us along.

He’s either an amazing troll or someone who is unbelievably dumb and trapped in his own bubble.

They got driven out of the country? How?

But yes, it is a good thing Yasmin Abdwl Magied has left the country since she disrespects the ANZAC tradition.

As for the journo, he is still in the country.

It’s well entrenched that the ABC are well biased towards the left as their programs continually demonstrate. There’s not one reporter that’s right wing inclined, all are leftists. As are the way they prepare their political shows, not to mention the news.

Even the head of the ABC Ita Buttrose and their CEO agreed they were biased. Blind Freddy can see it.

Again our tax payer’s money is going to waste to the best financially supported channel the ABC ($1 Billion / year) in Australia. The ABC is far from independent.

But hey, Labor just wants to keep give more and more as long as the ABC continue to prop up the leftist ideology and the bias the comes with it.

It’s a win win for them both but a loss for us.

I know! You can see the hard left in this thread. They just are not normal which is why they lost the last unloseable election.

They are out of touch with society!

And there we have a perfect example of it.

Funny thing is on Twitter and Reddit the left accuse the ABC of being right wing. There’s no swaying people who are too far left or too far right, just look at this thread, they’re mouthpieces, what a way to think.

Dude......are you serious?  The people from the list of people I put above that you said you didn't know who half of them were.

Fuck my bad. Yeh the ones I know of are nothing but a bunch of hypocrites.

I must admit though that I've heard both Alan Jones and Ben Fordham slag Isreal Falou for his beliefs, and only defend him from being sacked.

I have no idea what they did say, or wanted to be done to Yasmin, nor do I know in detail what Yasmin said, so I can't comment on that.

Good stuff from an empathetic judge and prosecutor.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-07-02/assisted-suicide-charges-dropped-in-canberra-court/11270040

What a shame the poor husband had to put himself in this position.

Neil O'Riordan's wife of 25 years, Penelope Blume, was suffering from the advanced stages of motor neurone disease when she died in his arms at their home.

The couple had shared a last meal and sat together hugging and talking until the early hours of the morning.

In the process of taking her own life, Ms Blume used an item modified by Mr O'Riordan, 63, that ensured she was unconscious before she died.

I can read mate.  It's you that's having trouble.

I'm not talking about you.

Forget who was sacked and who said what and who was involved.  Forget it all.

Ready?

I'm not picking and choosing you clearly can't read. I'm saying I would never call for Yasmin to get the sack because of her views.

I'm also saying they are not the same since Yasmin wasn't sacked for her views, or was she?

Rob for God's sake, they're directly comparable.  Put aside whether you agree with whoever in this instance.

Both people (Folau and Yasmin) said something distasteful to vast swathes of the population. (Polls are running 50/50 for whether Folau should have gotten sacked.)

The right wing commentariat, who I listed above, have fallen over themselves to defend Folau on freedom of speech and freedom of religiosity grounds and yet they never afforded the Yasmin or Scott McIntyre the same defence on the same principles.

If you want to be respected and have integrity based on your principles you can't pick and choose which people you are going to make a stand for.

I just read an article about Yasmin since I knew nothing about her.

I totally disagree with what she said in regards to Anzac day, however again we see a case of the Isreal Falou haters comparing two situations that clearly can't be compared.

Yasmin left the country because of threats she recieved from people around the country, she didn't get sacked and targeted by major Australian companies.

Even though I strongly disagree with her I wouldn't ask for her sacking, and try to get her immediate family sacked from their jobs for supporting her, simply because I didn't share her opinion on both life matters and religion.
