Talking with David Pourre last season and he was explaining that each side is awarded one home, and one away game against each opponent. The third hand ys considered to bd again the FFAs discretion and as we know has been alternating home and away. So that "third" game is the one the suits could mess with

+x+xGot no problem with this as a temporary measure whilst Parra Stadium is being rebuilt whilst but I'm worried that the suits will get greedy and keep playing games at Homebush after their new stadium is ready. this It's gonna happen. At least one WSW/SFC fixture will be allocated as the Community Round making it at ANZ. If the FFA have its way, all 3 will be there.

All it will take is the threat of a joint Cove/RBB boycott to make the FFA reconsider this as a possibility. Can't really spruke the derby without the fixture's major selling point. Hopefully it won't come to that.

lol meanwhile every other game will be lucky to crack 7k average at this rate with the lack of advertising. But as long as there is enough plastics filling a God awful ANZ stadium the FFA Brass will he happy and patting themselves on the back as job done. -PB

+xHopefully the FFA will hype the shit out of it in the opening week. I know having the derby in Round 1 has a slightly unnatural feel, but with a bit of luck it could set up the rest of the season. It might be just what casual fans need to become regulars. I think the quality of the match will play a massive part. My biggest fear is a huge crowd, huge occasion and even large ratings, but a game playing on a shocking post NRL gf pitch with two teams stumbling around playing a low quality match in a conservative fashion resulting in a 0-0 draw. I think that would result in a negative effect for the rest of the season. SO I truly hope for the good of football, that both teams play with real intention to win, and both play in an offensive fashion. Then if goals are scored, great. But a lot will come down to attitude taken. Between Poppa and Arnie, it will be up to them to really make sure the game works out the way it needs to work out. A boring 0-0 will cause havoc in the press, despite a large crowd attendance. I truly hope the highlights reel is action packed, as that will be the catalyst for an uprising in local attendances and tv ratings I reckon. The stage is set, hopefully both clubs will put football first.

If they manage to get 70k plus to all Sydney derbies at ANZ, why would anyone have an issue with that? It would still be a WSW home game being played out west. However, if crowds dipped below 55-60k average for derbies then I would hope they stay at parra even if capacity reduced at 30-35k.

One Sydney derby a year should be played at ANZ. I find it unbelievable that a regular HAL match could outsell the NRL grand final. Given that it will be two teams from outside Sydney it could just happen. Wow.

Great news if true. Let's just hope the Sydney teams can dish up anything other than a 0-0 draw.

Meanwhile GWS had a whopping 6k members buy tickets for their massive final this weekend, factor in all the scalpers involved in that 6k and what dismal result. Will be all foot-as-cray supporters/

Wanderers are now selling one match rbb memberships for this derby. It will be interesting to see what take up there is.
They are also selling 5 match rbb memberships for the games at ANZ.

That's pretty disgraceful really. Surely they need to police the RBB more than just create one game memberships for their biggest derby ever, inviting the hooligans into the active area and making it harder to figure out who causes all the trouble. Guaranteed to fail. And using 1 game memberships to inflate their membership numbers? Desperate much?? lol

Most or even ALL clubs offer a one game membership to the active area, it's the only way you can get into active areas - you have to be a member. I'm guessing Wanderers may not need to have done it before because they've had a sold out members area, victory might even be the same?
Membership is the only way the police/FFA will let fans in to active areas, rules changed a year or so back

It's really an issue for the usual hooligan teams WSW and Victory. The teams that are likely to light up 10 flairs etc. The Ultra want to be. Looking forward to getting 3 points and seeing WSW on -3 for acting like clowns.

@ sydneyfc
I'm surprised - it's enforced in Brisbane and we don't exactly have a reputation for being lawless and rowdy lol! The tickets have to be bought 24 hours ahead so you can't but on the day or walk up to the stadium and ask for one. It's a pointless rule, more so if it's not universal.

Nah man you can still buy Den tickets (one game memberships) at the gate. Not sure where you go the 24 hour thing from.

Making people take up a 1-game membership is actually a very smart/dodgy strategy by the FFA to get people's personal information.
That means that they'll be able to identify every single person in the RBB active area if necessary, as they'll all be members with no walkups into that area allowed.
