I think we need to be a bit patient at the moment. We aren't getting smashed by clubs (yet). I think it's just going to take a bit more time for everyone to settle in.

A bit early to panic. We were much better against Wellington. Could easily of won that game and only conceded to an unlucky handball. If you take three first choice players out of any A-league team they will struggle to win games. We are a top six team this season but not top 3 IMO though.

it depends on the context of "panic" you're referring too. 

should we panic about our performances? mmm... perhaps they're slowing getting better.

should we panic about our title chances? well i'd say that horse has already bolted. 8 points off top spot with 2 tough away games coming up. our chances of winning the league are gone 5 weeks in.

His record was much better than people gave him credit for.

Yeah he did pretty well at Adelaide given he had to endure two seasons of playing primarily without a quality number 9 and attacking mid. 

AU had speed last season. Speed will win you some games provided you have a bit of end product too.
MV this season have no speed and Ola is the only one with an end product.  That may improve if AN and RK get fit and can stay on the park..

ON THE fox sports podcast they were talking about putting ola as a cam and kenny as striker 

Ola could definitely perform that role. Kenny however could not perform as a sole striker. His first touch is simply not good enough. If we still had Berisha it could make sense to have Ola as a number 10.

I thought in the pre season ola was primarily sitting a bit deeper laying off to nabbout/kenny/elvis/potentially kruse but during the season it has been primarily kenny/nabbout/ elvis crossing to ola.

Ola has to be the striker as there is no other alternate number 9 who can do the job. Troisi is a big loss as he was that creative player.

What young blokes do people think can come in and make a difference?

Seems like they are mostly midfielders or defenders though. We need some attacking options to play against Sydney. Maybe a change of formation?

It's mainly because our home record was quite bad which made the seasons feel so much worse than they actually were.

Victory's failure over the now many years to develop young players of genuine quality is a mystery to me.  When the A League began, I expected Victory to become a talent development hothouse.  More like cool store as it's turned out.

Any Vic fans have a view on why it hasn't happened?

Because boomer nimbys need to have a deserted paddock for their dogs to take shits in.

Think this is a bit unfair. Current and recent Socceroos such as Jeggo, Behich, Nabbout, Kruse, Rogic, Langerak had crucial stages of their development at MV. I'm not for one second saying we were solely responsible for their success, but they all played at MVFC at a young age and went on to bigger and better things.

Plus Nabbout and Kruse are back for second stints, paying testament to how they valued their time at MVFC in their younger years.

Generous use of the phrase 'rushed back'. The bloke has been unavailable for 3 months.

This is where a reserve league would really help players get back in form before returning to the 1st team. I reckon Kruse has probably been injury free for a few weeks now, but without any game time his form would be off.

Nabbout is also a striker ofcourse, or a no.10

Why would he not be playing then, to get some miles back into his legs?

Kruse can't play this week, even if he had a run in the youth league last week. just shows how desperate we are. I think we should just cop this week on the chin - except we stuffed up - and play a youth team. then re-focus/start again next week. 

I say pack the squad with defensive players. Park the bus and play for a 0-0 draw. Maybe hope for some individual Ola brilliance to pick up a goal for a win.
Unless Kruse is 100% good to go, it's too risky to play him in this game. With all the other attackers out, he will cop way too much attention in a game like this. It's got re-injury written all over it.

I would probably leave him for another week though and risk him in a game when a win is realistic.
