1. Thank christ it isn't fucking Aloisi. The - oops, I just ate my own poop... is honestly hated so much that it's the only reason many people are accepting this without exploding. 2. The Vuck are farken back as a PROUD..... SCOTTISH...... CLUB. 3. The fact that it even came down to Aloisi vs Brebner is fucking shameful. I know that the whole "worldwide manager search" is a meme at this point but after the shitshow of a season we had, if those were the only local options then we should have been absolutely scouring Europe for someone and throwing money at them.

Was going to say the club has now returned to its Scottish routes. The club has gone the tight ass option considering the uncertainty for next season I can understand why but it is underwhelming.

+xVictory fans happy with this? Underwhelming IMO, but better than Johhny! I wouldn't use the word happy, but it's an understandable and acceptable choice. I'm happy MV have gone with an Aussie (citizen at least). We've definitely had better success with Aussie coaches. Under Covid circumstances, spending big on an international experienced coach is not necessarily the best idea. Although I reckon Aloisi does have potential as a head coach, appointing him simply wouldn't have gone down well with the fanbase. Brebner will have reduced expectations when compared to Aloisi. Brebner will be given enough rope to build a squad. He will still have the expectation to make finals, which is the bare minimum at MV, but the fans won't turn on him straight away if the losses start piling up. I would like to see Aloisi get another coaching gig, even if it's for a youth team, w-league or NSD if that happens.

I'd also add that, hypothetically if MV wins any trophy next season, us fans would much rather see Brebner lift another MV trophy than Aloisi.

Sound choice. Knows the young players and has served his apprenticeship. Was a very good, stylish and very unScottish player. Personally I think it's a strength that they have looked inside the club. Not sure why the criticism.
I still can't believe that the only alternative was JA, though.

I'm happy with it. I wasn't expecting a foreigner with covid and our travails with Kurz, so there weren't too many other viable local options anyway, but I'm glad we're a "dynasty" club and elevating our own people. Hopefully Brebner is given plenty of rope and patience, and in turn gives time and persistence to his young group of players.

Alex Gersbach (apart from his Sydney FC) is another player struggling for game time in Europe who would be an excellent signing for Victory.

Didn’t expect him to be signed, but far better outcome than JA. I wouldn’t want to put the MV faithful through that experience.

Just got a call back from the membership team as I told them I wanted to pay my base fee in one hit as there's no point in paying the Auto 10 admin fee on that amount.
I asked if it was possible to buy matchday tickets in different/lower categories but obviously as the club has no idea what the future will hold regarding how many people will be allowed in the stadium next season everyone has to stay put as it's just too complicated, which is understandable.
I also asked if it'll be possible to buy tickets for non members so they can sit with you, but at the moment if they're only going to be allowed to have 7.5k people in AAMI Park then it'll be a members only affair, so more reason to get that base membership, or you might not get in at all.
Probably not everyone will get what they want, and there'll be plenty of whinging Vucks on the socials, but really the club are doing the best they can with very little certainty to work on.

Active members will almost certainly not get what they want. If there are strict social distancing rules within stadiums, then active support areas will surely be ruled out. If next season starts with stadium capacity restrictions, then I wonder if MV should play more games at Marvel. AAMI is obviously better for numerous reasons, but if Marvel is cheaper and has a greater restricted capacity, then from a business point of view it makes a lot of sense. Marvel typically gets higher crowds under normal conditions anyway.

I did exactly the same thing (paid up front) and asked the same question because I upgraded to Category A. The guy on the other end said I will have GA entry if I do not purchase a reserved seat.

That's interesting, I was told I'd be stuck with Premium B in both venues as it'll stuff up social distancing etc. I'll be pissed if I'm stuck down the bottom tier of Docklands if the seats aren't in.

It's good that Brebs has a nearly clean slate of visa spots now to restart with, other than Rojas who of course we'd keep.

Mike Lynch reporting that Hope, Athiu, Carrigan and Gallifuoco have also all left: https://www.theage.com.au/sport/soccer/basha-departs-as-brebner-s-victory-rebuild-begins-20200827-p55pvb.htmlShould we at least keep them for the ACL in October?

What does that leave Victory squad looking like. Mind you can argue with those names leaving.

If my count is right Victory only have three contracted players for next season, Rojas, Brox and Kruse.
