+x+xIf my count is right Victory only have three contracted players for next season, Rojas, Brox and Kruse. Acton? And our youth team And Kruse will be injured.

They've all had plenty of rope and need to go. Hope needs a fresh start and may come good.

I think the only reason why kenny was kept for so long is because we literally had no back up to ola. When we had arch and Danny we had Claudinho elasi, Fabians, mrdja, Robinson.

And our youth team I was wrong, it's four, Lauton's contract expires end of next season. Acton's current contract ended at the end of this season. I'm not sure if any of the scholarship players have ongoing contracts.

On one hand we won't have the same headaches as other clubs tying to squeeze their current squads into a 2m cap. However we will need to convince players to sign for low money.

So if Kruse and Rojas are our marquees next season, and we give homegrown player contracts to Lesiotis, Kirdar, Barnett and Sutton, and retain Lauton, Anderson, LLL, Brooks and Nishikawa as scholarship players, and with a chunk of Broxham's and to a lesser extent Acton's salaries not counted as loyalty players, the only players fully taking up cap space (if retained) would be Traore and Roux, assuming we axe Elvis. Could potentially be plenty of cash left for Brebs to spend on those four vacant visa slots. All depends on what happens to the cap next season, of course.

With the way Victoria is overreacting with lockdowns it may be hard to get good visa players. Unless from other AL clubs.
Were any of those Solomon Island kids any good?

With Popovic’s exit assured, a busy off-season is looming at Glory with marquee striker Bruno Fornaroli, who is contracted for another year, believed to be attracting interest from Melbourne Victory.
The Uruguayan, who turns 33 next week, is baulking at proposed pay cuts off 30 per cent or more next season under a proposed new CBA, and may seek to have his contract terminated. https://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/popovic-joined-by-kalac-as-aussie-quartet-bid-to-take-greece-by-storm

A front 3 of Rojas - Fornaroli - Kruse is pretty much as strong as it gets in the A-League. Would be a formidable strike force.

At A-League level (not Socceroos level) I would still say that Kruse is a strong addition to a side.

It’s also worth noting that Fornaroli has now lived in Australia for over 5 years, so can apply for citizenship, and wouldn’t take up a visa spot.

Also Fornorolli would have to be on Aloisi(x 2), Ryall, Behich levels of hatred amongst fans. It would be a very tough sell I would say. The obvious comparison is Bes, but I for one at least admired his relentlessness, even if he did carry on like a pork chop a lot of the time.

Nah i don't think i can put Fornaroli in with them, some of the sm things he pulls off is unbelievable, if we are happy to take bes and his antics i don't think it would be that hard to take bruno, particularly if he performs, he shouldn't be spoken about in the same breath as ryall. Having said that, he shouldn't be a marquee and if we could pull someone of higher calibre (which we should be trying to) then we either don't go for him or he has to be prepared to be 2nd fiddle.

Also at the time Bes was 29 and was still performing at his peak. Fornaroli is 33 and no where near his peak. Bruno is capable of brilliance from time to time, but he resorts to trying to force the foul way too often.

So did half of the leagues fans when he was with the roar

Fans can be fickle at times and if a player performs, many forget the past. Some will hold a grudge, but ultimately if he goes to MV and wins you a title I’m sure people won’t complain.
The thing I don’t get though is that the main reason he seemingly would leave PG is because of a pay cut. How’s that going to be any different at MV? All clubs will have to make hard decisions, and although MV is likely better placed to pay more for their marquee spots, still hard to see the wallet being opened too far.

Leigh Broxham 19/20 Victory Medal winner. Well deserved highlight of an otherwise shit season.
