Rojas is a great player but there can be no doubt he fell off the cliff form wise at the back end of last season (practically invisible in the GF).
In some respects if we can pick up another visa winger we might actually be better off as we would have been losing both our 1st choice wingers (Rojas & Kosta) every time the Kiwis play.
Will be missed but hopefully we at least get some decent coin for him.

Having been left “in limbo” last season at Dutch club NEC, in the player’s own words, it’s believed City made an offer of $100,000 to sign Mauk, and have increased their bid after that was rejected.
Would you spend that much for him? Not sure why City need him tbh

Victory open pre-season with winTuesday, 25 July 2017 Melbourne Victory @gomvfc Melbourne Victory has started its pre-season with a 3-0 win against Port Melbourne at JL Murphy Reserve. Callum Goulding, Christian Theoharous and Pierce Waring were the goalscorers on a cool evening in Port Melbourne, with Theoharous in particular impressing during his 15-minute cameo as a substitute. The 17-year-old was involved immediately after coming on, and put the game beyond doubt when he doubled the lead on 78 minutes. It was the first hit-out in Victory colours for Rhys Williams, who impressed playing alongside James Donachie. Trialists Jun Jae Choi and Jackson Bandiera played 45 minutes each at left-back, while youth team midfielders Josh Hope and Cameron McGilp started alongside Leigh Broxham in the middle of the park. Next up for Victory is a trip to Bentleigh Greens on Wednesday, August 2 as it continues preparations for the FFA Cup clash against Brisbane a week later. Melbourne Victory 3 (Goulding 55’, Theoharous 79’, Waring 89’) Port Melbourne 0 Melbourne Victory line-up Lawrence Thomas (GK) (Matt Acton, 45’) Jun Jae Choi (Jackson Bandiera, 45’) Rhys Williams (Ben Carrigan, 79’) James Donachie Jason Geria Cameron McGilp (Callum Goulding, 45’) Leigh Broxham Josh Hope Mitch Austin (Christian Theoharous, 73’) Besart Berisha (C) (Pierce Waring, 45’) Jai Ingham (Nick Sette, 73’)

I'm not sure how in the loop Tom Smithies is if he cites that we're "thought to be searching for an Asian fullback" when the club publically announced the trial of Jun Jae Choi by name two whole weeks ago, and he played a half for us against Port Melbourne today.

+xLots of work to be done. Berisha ? - ? - Barbarouses ? - Valeri ? - Williams - Donachie - Geria Thomas At least the bench (Acton, Deng, Broxham, Nigo, Ingham, Austin) is sorted and all of 13 (7 starters and 6 bench) are of suitable quality. The squad will be filled out with the likes of Waring, Hope, Theoharus, McGilp etc. Hopefully Kevin has a few things lined up for the missing 4 spots (3 or 4? of which can be visa and 1 marquee).
Full trophy cabinet (but yours looks a bit empty) ! Reigning BACK2BACK 442 A League and World Cup (Mens and Womens) Tipping Champion - so yeap, I do know best !

+xems like a jobLots of work to be done. Berisha ? - ? - Barbarouses ? - Valeri ? - Williams - Donachie - Geria Thomas But at least Ian Robbo will be giving himself a pat on the back for getting rid of their supporter group that made much of the atmosphere at games. Now he's making sure the players leave too. Seems like a job... done

At least we have that.... In all seriousness, possibly Milligan as marque is ok, but you will have a hard time replacing the likes of Rojas and Troisi for that matter, under the cap, if we are to improve from last year. Hope to see more of Theo this year, has looked very good every time I have seen him (which isn't much admittedly!) Expect to see Broxham starting by mid year, as he seems to every year, starts on the bench and works his way into the team somewhere. Hope to NOT see much of Ingham and Austin. Neither are bad players, just shouldn't be starters in a team expecting to challenge.

"I would absolutely have no hesitation returning to Melbourne Victory in the future. The club is very important to me and has been nothing but professional during both my spells in Melbourne" - Rojas That's nice to hear at least

Anyone care to take a stab at the fee? I wouldn't be surprised if we got nothing but a gift basket. That's usually the going rate in the ALeague

Isn't Kosta the first step in replacing one of those two?

Troisi and Rojas were 2 of the best players in the comp for large parts of last season, but we were also very fortunate that they were willing to come back under the cap. Don't know if there's anyone proven out there at this level that is looking to come back. Don't know how others feel, but I think Vidosic could be a good option if we could get him under the cap.
With Milligan likely for our last marquee spot, I'd really like the club to go all out on a guest marquee for the front 3rd (if that rule even still exists?).
Kosta was a FBK replacement.

I think Marcos returning to Europe before his 2 year contract finished was always the plan for Marcos (and Kevin knew it). Hence the early re-signing of Kosta. You would expect MV to be making a fairly big signing public in the near future with the marquee and visa spots still available.

+xDon't know how others feel, but I think Vidosic could be a good option if we could get him under the cap. I read a couple of weeks back that MV, WSW & Jerks had tabled initial offers to Vidosic. He has just had, or is about to have, a kid and is based in Adelaide so I doubt he is in any mad rush to make huge life decisions.

As I said earlier, very poor recruitment so far and it is looking like our worst recruitment in 10 years.
