Ummm I've just realised we had the same ref for the Uruguay game and then against Italy. Uncanny. 

If you had to pick a full strength/most productive squad moving into the next 2.5 years who would you pick? First time in a while we have had so many players who are in and around the squad and could earn a place in our best 23.

im not convinced by sainsbury or behich anymore.  it's a damn shame because they have been great before.  i think behich will come good once he is playing regularly but i think it's been so long with sainsbury's club issues and nt form that we need to be looking elsewhere. curtis good should get a look in.  

any other young australian centre backs in the a-league that are looking nt worthy?

I think Good would balance Sainsbury nicely in a hopeful near future. I hope Trent ups his game a bit and Good can maintain fitness.

Am no longer convinced by Trent which is a shame because even at the 2018 WC he was a gun. Just looks slow and sluggish now. His career sadly will never reach the potential he once had.

More concerning though is the lack of alternatives available. Who is else could we look at? Not overly convinced by Deng.

Harrison Delbridge?

Hopefully Wright will have a better run with injuries and then maybe Souttar/Deng in the long term. I do agree Sainsbury has been terrible for a long time now and it is going to hurt us sooner or later. Hopefully he can find some form before the next phase of qualifying as we do know at his best he is a quality player.

Our current side, coached by Arnold who is demonstrating that he's the same old Arnie, are pretty much umwatchable. 

Not bad option but Toure made him look average in the FFA Cup final.

The defensive options are low in stock at the moment.

Incredibly disappointing with Sainsbury. He's clearly carrying a few pounds and is perhaps 6 games into his Israel stint. There is that intelligence that will hopefully reawaken with sharpness. Certainly not a 'bad' player but currently rusty. Might he turn into a good centre mid after those solid games there for Zürich?

It's incredibly frustrating at times how high up everyone is so we're all flat in attack rather than running onto the ball. If we do run onto it, no one moves and we pass it central or back. 

This is a great observation also will add to the fact that it leaves us flat footed and high up for the counter attack when we ineviably lose the ball. Least with arnie we have an extra man back compared with ange

I'm glad at least that Jeggo, or to your preference to which he'd also do very well, Holland, stay back as extra cover. It worked well. 

The attack, however, is like watching handball at times. OK, I suppose it's common whenever one team decides to stand deeper. It happens a lot when teams face Bayern so many goals come from the 5 yard box. It is what it is. We generally play better when another side at least has a constant go. 

Hard to believe susnajr has not got a call up.

NZ playing in Lithuania now. Wouldn't mind Australia playing in the Baltic states one day. Tallinn or Riga away would be fun. 

Great cities. Tallinn has perhaps the best preserved old quarter in Europe.

would not be opposed. i was thinking that Delbridge is a better option at the moment but Good is (finally) coming into form. i was thinking ahead. but then i checked the ages and Dellbridge is only a year older than Good. 

at least with Delbridge we have someone that will dominate the defensive airspace.  and he puts in a good shift every game.  Can be a bit scrappy but so is everyone in the NT. He is light years ahead of Souttar defensively.  if Ryan can up his leadership from goals and marshall the back line i think a Degenek - Delbridge pair could work very well.

Also, wouldn't be adverse to seeing Jamieson get a look in at left back - with Behich out of form and Smith still needing to get some club minutes under his belt (imo)

I'd be alright with this..

this was an issue under ange as well.  just a flat line of attackers that was easily defended against. lethargically slow transitions from defence to attack which allowed oppositions to get back into shape. we would be left with obvious, low percentage, (and often very poorly executed) crosses into the box.

Wonder if dougall could play cb.
