+x+x+xDoes anybody really think Cleary a worthy CC winner? I think he was very average, as he was all the final series. Burton was better, Chricton was better, even the dud of dud Panthers ( I’m f***ed if I know how he makes the team) Dylan Edwards was better. And I reckon I could name another half dozen Panthers and Rabbits better. If you say it was because of his kicking game, most of his kicks were duds. Anyway…. Who gives a fuck I suppose. Edwards is a good player, did have a bad game a few weeks back. Multiple Panthers carrying injuries, Cleary, Edwards, JFH, Leotaa?, Too?. They have been a bit clunky in attack since SOO, but the workrate in defence was the best in the comp. Well deserved winners, Cleary had a great kicking game, most of his kicks very well placed, a few repeat sets, close calls for tries and field position dominance... The attack did look slicker earlier.... no doubt that the different rules shifted the balance betweem defence and attack. Tonights kicking display is the reason Kyle Flanagan should never see first grade again... Bad luck we don't have a home ground nearer the coast. Jack Gibson's advice was "kick it where the seagulls are".

+x think both sides showed great defence. 2 tries each with Penrith having the bulk of possession speaks pretty highly of Souths defence too. It does, And good argument given the possession that South’s defence was better. But Penrith won and it was their defence rather than their attack that won it for them.

+x+x+x+x+xBurton in a Dogs jersey gets 10 in the bin next year for the ‘high shot’… As i said, well refereed. I dont know why Gus was so anti penrith.... He really hates Ivan. Well Ivan just rubbed his face in it. It’s been a penalty all year, you yourself have bitched about it… And you’ll bitch about it again when Sutton bins Hethers or Thommo in the first game he refs us next year… It also felt to me like Panthers were given way too leniency with laying in the tackle and second efforts the whole game… No way. Ive been VERY much against this BS rule and have vented my frustrations on it nearly every week. I wont stop till they change the rule. Id be happy if they rule on it the same as as tonight. Not because its a GF. Coz its the right fekking rule That’s what I’m saying… But to not rule it that way tonight the way they’ve ruled it all year makes it even bigger joke of what they’ve done all year… Mate. We're ruled by interpretations, not rules or commonsense. Unfortunately nothing will change and our frustrations will persist.

+x+xAm surprised Anna Alphabet didn’t come out during the half time break and threaten to send the crowd home unless they put their masks on… A more competent premier and the game could have been in Sydney. The whole comp for that matter. Said like a true politician!!!…

It was a great game simple as that...as even as could be...not unduly influenced by the ref...one great play and one against the run of play for each team. Superb defence. But the attack that was thrown at that defence was great too. Everyone's least favourite Panther Luai actually enabled the Souths defence to get set..had he played the ball quickly it may have been 6 points on that play instead of zilch. Great players don't have to/need to play for penalties.I was disappointed Burton didn't get a kick in general play. I am sure he will get many in 2022.

There are lessons learnt from every big game whether you are playing them or not. Cleary's kicking game basically pinned Souths set starts deep in their own half. I know Zef doesnt think it was much of a difference but it was huge. There was only 1 incident midway througj yhe second half where Cleary couldnt kick and it came from an under pressure May, but that seemed it. There was no need for anyone other than Cleary and Luai to kick. Penrith played a very conservative game and in my opinion they diced with death as Souths had unpredictable enough players to snatch the gane from them. But they played it well. In fact they played it better than souths. Forwards made good metres but it was the kicking game and the position of the kicks that made all the difference. The point i was making is there is no room for a half that has ineffective kicks. I doubt KF can drastically improve in this department. As HD says, if you havent got that kicking repetoire by his age, youll never have it. Burton has a huge kick, we know that. It will come down to who partners him. Avo is ok as second choice as is Wakeham.

So for anyone that wondered why I despise I Cleary you only need to look at at his comments re Burto…
Plus he’s a smug overrated coach living off the back of the talent of a squad developed by others…

Im just glad Luai wasnt given that crusher penalty he was looking for.... The Luai crusher not given. No more attempts at milking in the game. Lesson for the NRL, if the on field officials don't penalise immediately, no penalty or on field review. Let the match review committee deal with it. End of acting for rubbish crusher tackles and minimalist high hits.

If they dont penalise during the flow of the game, the bunker should only tip the ref if they deem it intentional upon review. If not, lrave it alone and let MRC deal with it.

I will say Dyan Walker is a player I don't like. But I can see his talent, lock, centre or in the halves. Might be too slow for centre these days. Signing with the Dogs is instant redemption for past crimes.
I don't know if he is in the frame, just commentating on speculation. Burns looks most likely.. I would probably go with Walker.

Reality will come back to bite Burto for leaving… Nothing wrong with that comment. Its hard to manage the SC legally especially after you make the GF and have only a small window of opportunity to win a title. At some stage you have to make critical retention decisions and try to get others on lower than market value based on the teams success. Burton was in that spot. No one (not even cleary) knew how well Burton would go in the centres. We are actually lucky we signed him when we did, coz now Panthers see him as a very good (strike) centre, rather than a backup half. This is just a last throw of dice from Cleary to either test if Burton can renege or send a warning to some of his other players to consider taking less to play in a successful team rather tuan chase the bigger bucks. All good coaches tow this line once in this position.

Signing with the Dogs is instant redemption for past crimes. I don't know if he is in the frame, just commentating on speculation. Burns looks most likely.. I would probably go with Walker. If you watched Manly games back end of season and finals, he was next best after Tommy, DCE amd maybe Shuster. He is a very good utility. Almost silly that he isnt ahead of Lachlan Croker but thats Des for you. Couldn't spot talent if it hit him in the face....

+x+x+xIn all this NRL fanfare, Dman forgot to mention that Perth Glory has signed Daniel Sturridge on a 1 year deal for this upcoming season..... Thats an attacking front 3 of Sturridge, Fornaroli and Keough.... #JustHandUsTheTitle Now you have triggered our resident soccer expert Dman, be prepared for lots of soccer stories, and stats. 0 - 0… Sounds like a gripping game!

+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+xBurton in a Dogs jersey gets 10 in the bin next year for the ‘high shot’… As i said, well refereed. Coz its the right fekking rule That’s what I’m saying… But to not rule it that way tonight the way they’ve ruled it all year makes it even bigger joke of what they’ve done all year… I think they started ruling on it correctly in most of the finals to be fair. Yes i think that is fair. I dont think refs miss the intentional crushers these days anyway... If they dont penalise during the flow of the game, the bunker should only tip the ref if they deem it intentional upon review. If not, lrave it alone and let MRC deal with it. The bunker shouldn’t tip the ref off at all… and if they simply must get involved, the play shouldn’t be taken back 2 or 3 plays to penalise… on report, move on… The bunker is virtually running the game. Get the out of general play and let the ref and lineys be accountable for decisions in general play. the game is being slowed down unneccesarily by the bunker's involvement. Annersley the politician would be very clear in his insistence the bunker doesn’t make calls in general play… sure they tip the ref off (when it suits) but don’t make the calls… They always take the tip so effectively they make the calls
