+xWwll the coaches and players have yet again done a great job of making a mockery of an 'innovation' that was never required in the captain's challenge... Let's see what mid season rule the NRLol makes this week to fix yet another ill conceived 'innovation'... On another note, how the hell Moses didn't get binned for playing at the ball when Titans running back for a 20m restart is beyond me... This administration got a lot of praise for restarting the game during covid. In fact every sport restarted often with the added complication of being a nationwide  sport.  They seem to avoid scrutinary for all the stuffing around with rules and procedures, backdowns and crackdowns  which are becoming a joke.

Some players are deemed good guys some are deeme bad guys. Same with teams. I remember watching every single game and even watching replays numerous times from the early 2000’s. We got away with a hell of a lot. I thought most of the calls from refs favoured us. Looking back it was simply because we were so bloody good. Easily the best team on paper in most games.
Calls don’t go your way when you are the better team. It’s that the bad calls don’t hurt your chance to win as great as the poorer sides. That’s why it looks like the better teams are favoured.
The ptb speed is different though. It’s all about how good you are at getting away with holding down longer.

The ptb speed is different though. It’s all about how good you are at getting away with holding down longer.  The point is the ref should police it evenly. You can't  be better at it anymore than you can be better at knock ons or head high tackles.

+xThe game would be better if we went back to the rules before super league ARL war. That was the time where the ptb started to become the shambles it is now  The extra time required to get back the 10 leads to the hold down and the wrestle. The ptb rule by the attacker is not really enforced. Almost everything in the game starts with the ptb, so it is crucial that it is policed fairly and consistently.

The ptb speed is different though. It’s all about how good you are at getting away with holding down longer.  Those teams are only as good as the ref allows... Are you saying Gus was lying when he said "Graham Annesley in his own words - that there is an intrinsic bias towards the better teams. There is an intrinsic, nit-picking of the lower teams." I'd reckon if Gus fabricated the comment we might have heard a little more from Refs Boss and the League... I'd prefer not to have to talk about refs, but most weeks one or two of them and/or the bunker give us obvious reason to raise a few questions, and most times the darling sides are involved... They have too much influence on too many games... And the NRLol continue to enable it and fvck with their heads with constant rule changes, kneejerk crackdowns and backduwns (thank you MDog) and, not insisting they enforce the actual rules (eg stand up and play it with your foot)... I think a good start would be the refs shouldn't be going into games studying tip sheets (also admitted) on what to look for with certain teams, or which player to keep an eye on...

I haven't seen a South's player touch the ball with their foot for at least 3 years... I know they tried that crackdown a couple of years ago, and even did it the right way by telling teams in the off season...  But those hack grub grubgy league germoulists did their thing and the NRLol typically folded like a house of cards... I reckon the PTB would be very different now it NRLol 'leaders' at the time actually had some gumption...

The most glaring fact in all these discussions you are posting is that you are all correct. The rules are a mess. We have an administration that thinks it knows what the fans want. After 100+ years of the game this current administration is trying to change the fabric of the game, for what? To make it more exciting for the fans, to make it more lucrative for the betting agencies, to make it a more saleable product to be sold off to the highest bidder. All the fans want is when they pay their hard earned to watch their team, there is an even playing field, where the rules apply evenly to both sides without bias, interpretation or discretion. It's not that hard, after all rugby league is not  difficult game.

A comment on the 6 again. The sanction is between 1 and 6 tackles without any options for the non offending  captain. Some concession to the inadequacy of this has been made in the defensive forty. A penalty is given so the captain  has options and a full 6 is available in all cases.
Crazy.  Imagine applying this dependence on the area of the field to say, knock ons, obstructions, in front of the  kicker etc.
Oops, sorry you can negate an obstruction by committing  another  offence. Voluntary  tackle.
 All makes sense doesn't  it.

How much assistance does Penriff need.... fortuitous calls, lucky bounce of the ball and a lions share of possession.. not looking good for us.

+x+x+x+xWwll the coaches and players have yet again done a great job of making a mockery of an 'innovation' that was never required in the captain's challenge... Let's see what mid season rule the NRLol makes this week to fix yet another ill conceived 'innovation'... On another note, how the hell Moses didn't get binned for playing at the ball when Titans running back for a 20m restart is beyond me... It's  the deeming rule.
The point is the ref should police it evenly. You can't  be better at it anymore than you can be better at knock ons or head high tackles. Explain how the ref polices it evenly?

Penrith are winning because they are making more easy meters because they are a faster stronger side. Stop blaming the refs. The effort from the boys was great. Just not good enough. The errors were what cost us in the end.
Flanno and Burto need to be kept together for the rest of the year. Duffman had his bad game. He has one in five. Hopefully in the future we reduce that even more. But he is worth keeping for a couple of years. This team can be good if we keep building. Just need to hold onto the ball

Micko, the Pemfers might be a better side but did they really need all those 50/50 calls to go their way to beat us. We got penalised for the same things they didn't. This is what I was calling for earlier, I just want an even playing field where the calls are more transparent.

I’m quietly confident we have improved this year- from worst team to second worst team

We're not far off a decent footy team... I think after a few weeks of shuffling it's clear JMK should be shuffled to the bench...
Anyone have an idea of how Cook is going in Reggie's or do I need to join TK to get an opinion (emoji)???...

At the club so only saw limited parts of game. From small sample looked like some soft on line defence hurt us

This is what I was calling for earlier, I just want an even playing field where the calls are more transparent.  ODF, for every 1 ref officiating blunder (and I mean a real blunder not a 50-50 call) I reckon I point out 20 errors or stuff ups from our team. Stop blaming the refs all the time. It sounds like sour grapes constantly. We arent a team that does everything right and loses games because of ref errors or interpretations or bias. We lose games because we simply aren't the better team, or don't know how to win the game and certainly don't know how to prevent a ref blunder or ounce of bad luck cost us one. And until we can win by even accounting for a bad call or bad luck, that's all we will be.

Certainly wasn't a factor on the result or the 20 point margin. In fact, I reckon he helped us keep it to just 20....
