Corey Allan is officially in the house. Trained with the squad today.
Good signing, the bloke can play anywhere from 1-5, 6 at a pinch in game through injury. He’ll always be in the starting #13 on merit. Value plus.

Otherwise I'd be calling for Paynes head. If this ends a draw (which is now very likely), we will have to put India in first if we win the next toss or hope they bat first if they win it.

Yet you would've given them another 15 overs to make the runs by declaring sooner and lost the match... So youd have lost and your new best mate winviz looks to have had it wrong at end of days 3 and 4... If a draw, its couple of dropped catches that cost us the match, not when we declared...

+xYou don't even know what a sitter is!!!... Should've been taken but def not a sitter... I don’t think it matters if they were sitters or not, and they weren’t, it’s something only Tim Payne would know and I reference an interview there was with Gilly post retirement. Remember Gilly was still smashing the ball with bat and he still would have had Test centuries in him, but he knew it was time to retire when he dropped a catch in his last Test, that wasn’t a sitter, because it wasn’t the difficulty of the catch or just an error, he knew he dropped it because his reaction/reflex was slow. Gilly then announced his retirement mid-match. He could’ve played on smashing the odd century here and there and disguised the odd dropped catch - but he knew his job and the minute he thought age was effecting it, called stumps. And I reckon that’s where Tim Payne is at now. A question only he can answer and a question he should ask of himself honestly.

Should've been taken but def not a sitter... Paine should have easily taken it... it was a bloody regulation catch for any keeper, he stuffed it! Paines been a bit lippy behind the stumps, he looks like the idiot with his poor work behind the stumps especially today dropping a couple of chances.

Here’s my team for the Gabba.... I’d make just the one change to shore up the middle order
Czislowski Candice Lamb shanks Smithy Green 11th Immortal Lachlan Coote Paine in my Cumming Starkers Noni Lyon

At least we agree on that....and Warne touched 9n it with only about 13 deliveries going on to hit the stumps. When your opposition is playing for a draw, WTF is the purpose of bowling outside off stump or short?

Paines been a bit lippy behind the stumps, he looks like the idiot with his poor work behind the stumps especially today dropping a couple of chances. He was probably too busy trying to think of the next sledge that he wasnt concentrating on the game. It had nothing to do with reflexes as Zef suggests.... he got to the ball with ease. He just didn't glove it. It's all about concentration and timing and ge stuffed it. Probably wouldn't have altered the final result and maybe he just fluffed it on purpose to make sure it didnt look like a late declaration cost them the game....

And I reckon that’s where Tim Payne is at now. A question only he can answer and a question he should ask of himself honestly. India played well and the pitch flattened out, however this isn't one of the great aussie teams inspite of having 2-3 world class bowlers and 2-3 world class batsmen. What is missing has a lot to do with Paine's captaincy. We don't seem to get many wickets from having a good plan, bowling to that plan backing it up with field placements and execution. This could simply be the team being rusty. For example Paine gave Green a lot of one over spells, he only got an extended spell when the batsmen were well set. So overall our bowling changes, field placements and focus were a bit ordinary. The Indians seem better drilled and more cohesive. It is a shame Paine copped a bad injury earlier in his career, at his best he is a talented keeper and batsman.

The Goat and Starc have also had a mixed series.
Cummins and Hazelwood have been magnificent, but I wonder how the team would be travelling if one of them was out injured.
I understand why we are persisting with Green, I see a lot of likely potential. But for a young guy like him we need to give him a plan and a role when bowling. If he simply keeps it tight and bowls the odd bouncer he will pick up wickets.
Somehow I still think captaincy is a big issue.
Still Brisbane should suit us, let's give the team and captain a shot at it, so minimal changes IMO.

I guess it’s no surprise the Vic travel permit site is inaccessible... i’ll ‘come back again later’ for what ‘takes about 5 minutes’... an hour and a half later still no go...

When JAC snd Burton come over we look to have a very strong backline.
I’m really looking forward to another three or four new additions for 2022 during the year. We have plenty off contract and I’m certain a number of opposition players will test the market.

You don't want to go there Dman, they have no idea how to play footy. I used to love going there as the best music scene in Aus so had something to do other than sit in a hotel room... Now no music and its full of bloody victorians... who are equally as bad as Queenslanders... Don’t get me started on their Premiers...
