+x+xI've never heard of Thunderbirds, only that American thing from the 60's with the puppet looking things. Coronation Street is one of their big soapies with Eastenders going back decades. Neither have had long airtime in Aus to get much of a following here. Inspector Morse, Foyle's War, Downtown Abbey have all been on here, I've just never watched them. The Avengers, good old show from the 60's, Channel 9 were airing it early morns last year. The Professionals I remember seeing a few times, cops & criminals kind of drama show. The others left on the ITV list I've never heard of. I was surprised #1 was one of them. There's 3 on that BBC list I hadn't heard of either, some I have heard of but never watched. The Thunderbirds was a British show. And absolutely magnificent, way ahead of it’s time in story and production. Australian actor Ray Barrett was a mainstay, voicing most villains. Just another absolutely classic masterpiece of entertainment you’ve never seen. The only good thing about the Thunderbirds was that they were the in the music video of Dire Strait's for "Calling Elvis"....

All I remember of it, after that indent no doubt, is "Thunderbirds....are.....goooo" before I switched it off, which for some unknown reason I've remembered as sounding American.

Virgil having the Fireflash landing on his wheel truck things, one driven by him the other remotes controlled by him, with sweat pouring off him and that f***in’ soundtrack is one of the best action sequences ever filmed…. and yes, with miniatures and puppets.
Practical effects decades ahead of their time.
And the Crab-logger, that rocket on the bridge, moving The Empire State Building… and it collapsing.
”Now, Parker.”
What the f*** were you blokes watching? The Smurfs?

I did watch a few eps of it, not many, only enjoyed it once or twice but didn't enjoy it any other time, hence switching it off because it wasn't my thing. The brits had a knack for good story writing in those days & I agree the effects don't matter, it was just one of the shows I wasn't a regular on the couch for.

+x+xThe only best ever poll for ITV I could find was a top ten list from an article in 2015 : 1 Auf Wiedersehen Pet 2 Thunderbirds 3 Coronation Street 4 Inspector Morse 5 The Prisoner 6 The Avengers 7 Foyle's War 8 The Professionals 9 Blind Date 10 Downtown Abbey Only seen #2 on that list... I think I may have switched the Avengersany times when a youngster... The music from The Bill is enough to induce PTSD... IMO 1. Thunderbirds 2. The Professionals - might star a young Joanna Lumley? 3. Inspector Morse - ok for a cop show.

TBC = To be confirmed. The club wouldn't know yet if it's 2pm, 4pm or whatever, but should do soon. There will most likely be a stream. Previous years it was direct from official site & also a 3rd party site. Not likely at all to be on Fox.

That's awesome. Also funny they release that practically the same minute I last posted. I've been hanging around the mock too long. :) Both Canterbury trials are 7pm.

It explains why the club didn't know the times & they must've known they were waiting for Fox to do their schedule. I'm surprised Fox would want anything to do with trials, it's certainly a first...

It doesn't seem to add up financially for Fox to do that, yet the execs wouldn't make a decision like that lightly. I guess they'll add preamble, commentary & football banter to the broadcast to make it interesting for people. The streams in recent years were bare bones & had various problems including going completely dead for periods of time, so I was happy to hear this was happening. Saves registering for an account & having to watch on a computer or phone too. Maybe streams are still an option for those that don't have Fox.

Big Bash has been a failure in the summer, the NBL & A Lesgue has been stop/start…. I can see why they want NRL content even with numerous player changes during the trial games. I can’t wait to see the Dogs

I think it's advertising, creating interest in the coming season. Fox has lost a fair bit of content in recent times, football, union etc, so they need to maximize what they've got. Every time they lose content they lose subscribers and become less the go to sports supplier.

If P+ are smart, they should take an offer like that if it were available. League, AFL and Big bash are the only thriving sports.

With league, Foxtel has a number of talkback or preview shows that are actually as interesting as the game itself. NRL360 the pick of them, but Vossys shows also good every now and then. The controversy in the game creates much interest and it gives Fox (and nine) extra broadcasting revenue through ads and lead-in to other shows.

The lack of leading Australian players, overseas players coming, then being called back etc. The whole thing bordered on farce. They need to do something about scheduling, which will inevitably mean shortening it to allow better quality players to be consistently available.

Fox is trying to attract / retain viewers and stay relevant. Netflix and other streaming services are taking market share. Sport is a low effort way of making unique content for a rusted on audience. We can no longer stream games live via the NRL app, Fox needs the NRL mire than the NRL needs Fox.

Australian soccer needs a big overhaul, skill levels have dropped and the game admin seems worse than league. I don't watch A league anymore, the standards are too low, I rarely watch Big Bash. I think BBL is fine as background when on a date, getting drunk, watching YouTube or posting on social media and IMO that is probably how the majoity use it, Bottom line inspite of the years of poor admin, league on the field gets better each year, for enertaining TV viewing, it is hard to beat.
