+x+x+xWould a couple of you bleeding hearts like to take over paying the part of my tax contribution to cover the constant handouts for those on the gravy train Your wealth in this country comes from years of exploitation and destruction of Aboriginals. These "handouts" don't come close to helping them reach equal footing with the rest of the country. Yep, it's shameful the way we overran their cities, acquired their mines, and exploited everything else that they'd achieved in the 40,000 years they'd been here. If Cook hadn't have landed here, imagine how much better their lives would have been. By the way - where does "your wealth" come from? It's shameful how we took them away from their parents, massacred their people, made laws making them second-class citizens and disrespect their culture to this day which we are literally seeing in this thread. These effects are still being felt across their communities. My wealth does come from this too. I am in favour of bringing them up with the rest of society. You claim to be in favour of racial equality yet you know fuck all about it.

Any mention of minorities, even when not involving politics, gets these insecure men out of the woodwork.

+x+x+x+x+x+xPolitics asides I just thought it was a good looking design.
Law 4 Equipment must not have any political, religious or personal slogans, statements or images. Players must not reveal undergarments that show political, religious, personal slogans, statements or images, or advertising other than the manufacturer`s logo. For any offence the player and/or the team will be sanctioned by the competition organiser, national football associationor by FIFA. If you're reaching that far for the definition of "political" then even having a single colour in the kit would be outlawed. Any slogan, statement or image which falls into any of these categories is not permitted. Whilst ‘religious’ and ‘personal’ are relatively easily defined, ‘political’ is less clear but slogans, statements or images related to the following are not permitted: - any person(s), living or dead (unless part of the official competition name)
- any local, regional, national or international political party/organisation/
- group, etc.
- any local, regional or national government or any of its departments, offices or functions
- any organisation which is discriminatory
- any organisation whose aims/actions are likely to offend a notable number of people
- any specific political act/event
So having a few extra colours from the aboriginal flag somewhere on the jersey falls into which of these exactly? I don't even WANT our kit to change but some of those comments blew my mind and actually makes me really sad. Especially when it's young people. "The flag was designed by Harold Thomas, a Luritja man of Central Australia, and was first flown on National Aboriginal Day in Adelaide in 1971. Gary Foley, a Gumbaynggirr man of north-east New South Wales and an Aboriginal Rights activist, took the flag to the East Coast where it was promoted in Sydney and Melbourne. In 1972 the flag became more prolific when it was chosen as the official flag for the Aboriginal Embassy in front of Parliament House in Canberra." Yeah - there's nothing political about the Aboriginal Embassy, eh?
yeah well to be fair i think the original point was just about some sort of spiral motif more than the flag colours. That was just me typing quickly after I read tsf mention the flag colours as a tracksuit or whatever. For the record, I think the idea is silly and unnecessary but also wouldn't really care if there was something that tipped a hat to our collective past (better? - they were here. whatever you think of their culture/achievements doesn't mean people weren't here). I actually did think your comment was probably tongue in cheek and I knew Rusty would comment and I'm not sure he is even a "real person" but that other kid just mimics what he reads on conspiracy laden, alt right, facts are fake news reddit threads.

It's painful to read some of the ignorant BS on this thread. I think a few people may be regurgitating what they heard their parents/grandparents speak about...very uninformed views...and obviously coming from people who have not taken the time to talk with Aboriginal people or understand their culture.
An indigenous inspired kit is a great idea. Better than than the shitty waves on our sleeves that supposedly evoked memories of our 2005 triumph against Uruguay! Any initiative with positive intentions is worth a go...rather than simply shutting it down because "why don't white people ever get recognition?" or something equally obnoxious.
I'd love to see an Indigenous round in the A-League that features Indigenous inspired designs of each club's kit. This may be a more suitable approach given the vast differences in tribes/clans/people across Australia and would allow for closer engagement between the clubs and the Indigenous population.
How good would it be if we start getting more of the talented and extremely athletic Indigenous kids playing football instead of AFL. Would only be a positive for our game.

Why do the bleeding hearts feel a need to acknowledge the difference between us all. Next time can we have a greek coloured jersey to celebrate the contribution they've made to Australia?

+x+x[quote]Would a couple of you bleeding hearts like to take over paying the part of my tax contribution to cover the constant handouts for those on the gravy train I too would love to demand where my tax dollars were spent and I'd be willing to bet it would be in different areas to you so let's call it even, hey?. The fact all it takes is for someone to suggest a tip of the hat to history in a colour scheme on a sports jersey to bring out comments about feet kissing and gravy trains is pretty bloody piss weak fragile snowflake mummy didn't love me funny. Tax dollars are wasted left right and centre. Why are politicians entitled to retire so much earlier than everyone else on what is basically their parlimentary wage for serving a whopping 4 years. I'm up in arms about that to. For how many more years would you like to continue the divide between races in this country. What happened here following settlement was terrible, a tragedy that should never be repeated in history. Those who suffered through that are all but dead. It is now nothing more than a gravy train for those riding the coat tails of those who suffered. As far as being a snowflake perhaps the snowflakes are those who continue to melt for fear of actually having the balls to say enough is enough. Perhaps the odd kick up the arse from mummy might have built a little bit of resilience into your pathetic beta existence

I wouldn't be a fan of a Socceroos jersey personally - we're THE multicultural sport in this country. Call me crass, but indigenous rounds are used by the other sports as nothing more than marketing, parading how 'accepting' they are of indigenous players (whilst constantly pointing out in their media coverage during the year how 'special' they are, preferring to point these players out as indigenous rather than a footballer first and foremost.)
That rant is mainly at the AFL, which is insufferable in this regard.
Our efforts should be focused on opening up more indigenous pathways, I have no doubt there is a tonne of talented kids that just need the right opportunities made available to them. I know Jade North has a program focussing on this - imagine similar things with FFA funding and A-league club links.

That's where Aboriginal people and other minorities are, stuck in a society that is against you from the start.

Try living on the dole and see how much "gravy" you can afford after you pay rent. I'm sick of ignorant, greedy psychopaths destroying the environment and forcing the cost of living up so they can live a cushy life off of their "investments"

Call me crass, but indigenous I don't understand how a nod to our indigenous peoples by way of a motif on a jersey is offensive or divisive. Plenty of other countries have done it. In fact the last lot of Commonwealth Games uniforms Olympic uniforms featured aboriginal patterns on them. Qantas painted a whole bunch of planes in no one gave 2 shits. Oh the humanity, aborignal motifs on our uniforms. Someone call the wahmbulance. http://commonwealthgames.com.au/australian-team-uniform-for-gold-coast-2018-reveale/ Tell me those plane don't look great. It's just a pattern at the end of the day and judging by the fact they sold out of the original run and had to do a second run that seems to indicate it was pretty popular item. So many minded and petty man babies here.
