Same opportunity??? What fucking world are you living in? Only the middle class and above get opportunity. Those below have have to overcome more obstacles than you can imagine to get to positions of wealth and power. That's where Aboriginal people and other minorities are, stuck in a society that is against you from the start.

How the hell is society against them or anyone for that matter?

In this country you have free schooling, free healthcare etc etc all the fundamentals are catered for. Its then up to the individual to make of it what they will

You're the one living in a bubble, avoiding the actual problems in this society. You refuse to step out and see the world for what it is.

What is the actual problem oh oracle of all things good?

You're forgetting the availability and quality of those free services in the area they're living in. You're forgetting other costs that you need to live comfortably like food, electricity and heating. Welfare is inadequate in covering all of these.

Well, I've lived in the Northern Territory and I can assure that not everyone is on an equal footing, even if they wanted to be.

Try living on the dole and see how much "gravy" you can afford after you pay rent.

I'm sick of ignorant, greedy psychopaths destroying the environment and forcing the cost of living up so they can live a cushy life off of their "investments"

The idea of the dole is to give people a leg up until they can find work and fund themselves. Unfortunately in this country many seem to believe its a lifestyle and you end up with generations of families where no one has bothered to work.

As far as destroying the environment I totally agree with you. I hate seeing all the over burden and piss poor efforts of mining companies to fix the area once the mining is complete and more needs to be done to ensure the land is returned to a usable state. As far as increasing the cost of living i just wish people could see the level of wastage going into the building of each and every wind farm, solar farms less so. While in an ideal world all of our power generation would come from renewables at this time we arent quite there capable of doing it cost effectively.

I happen to be one of these people with 'investments' by way of property. My intention is merely to get myself into a position where once the time comes i can be a totally self funded retiree and not depend on the public purse to look after me. Is that so wrong?

I think much of the issue comes from the centralisation of services and government. With improving technology there is opportunity for state governments to decentralise and create working opportunities outside of the major cities allowing people to move into more affordable areas which in turn will attract additional business. It's not going to take too much of a tweak to improve general living conditions for people and allow them to earn their own way

You cant just go and build a hospital in the middle of WA to service a couple of remote communities, the public just cant afford that. Its one of the trade offs for those people to live a more traditional life. No unlike remote farming.

I dont think welfare is inadequate for these people more so misdirected

It's shameful how we took them away from their parents, massacred their people, made laws making them second-class citizens and disrespect their culture to this day which we are literally seeing in this thread. These effects are still being felt across their communities.

My wealth does come from this too. I am in favour of bringing them up with the rest of society. You claim to be in favour of racial equality yet you know fuck all about it.

Yeah, making a pretty shirt will fix it all ... you're right.

I don't understand how a nod to our indigenous peoples by way of a motif on a jersey is offensive or divisive. Plenty of other countries have done it. In fact the last lot of Commonwealth Games uniforms Olympic uniforms featured aboriginal patterns on them. Qantas painted a whole bunch of planes in no one gave 2 shits.

Oh the humanity, aborignal motifs on our uniforms. Someone call the wahmbulance.

Tell me those plane don't look great.

It's just a pattern at the end of the day and judging by the fact they sold out of the original run and had to do a second run that seems to indicate it was pretty popular item.

So many minded and petty man babies here.

So they have been painting planes with dots for decades -and it has not helped one iota with any of the problems faced by indigenous people. Yet people on here think that if you are against this ridiculous virtue signalling you must be a racist?

Nobody is trying to solve society's ills, was just a suggestion for designs.

Personally I think the aboriginal colour schemes and designs are great (but have way more potential than currently used for), they should be something we are proud of as it's a culturally significant thing that is original to us only.

Weird debate imo, I like the aboriginal art kits mainly because it is uniquely Australian and I like when our kits look good and unique. I don't like our kits when they seem generic green+yellow versions and I don't think the minimalist ones work as we end up either looking like bananas or a bad Brazil.

If you want to mix it a little you could have the art of say the Sydney opera house to represent modern Australia but I think that is using two unique things in one kit.

I would also be happy with a Aus+NZ kit. Obviously would have to try and avoid political stuff (so couldn't use ANZAC symbolism) but if you did say kits that work side by side or similar art different colours which would probably end up including a big southern cross I think it could work

Tbh we struggle to make a decent vanilla kit so we will probably butcher an Aboriginal version. Regardless, can't help but think it's a bit gimmicky - like all the pandering the AFL goes on with regarding Aboriginal culture.

If it looks good, go with it - but it's a fine line between a quality kit that represents everyone and just pandering to trendy city-dwellers on their social justice crusade.

He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

The idea is good, but yea I think its a bit gimmicky too. It would have to involve some planning, but hey FFA cant do that and we dont want them spending millions on consultants for a shit design.

Also what are FIFA rules with national colours? I assume it couldnt be a home kit, so away kit then? Are there any rules on you cant have a one off colour for a single match? Are national teams even allowed 3rd kits?

Furthermore, it would be embarrising if the Roos do play a game or two in Aboriginal colours with no-one in the team of aboriginal decent.

Thread was always going to go downhill.

It's sad though, to have such a chip on your shoulder over something that'd have such little impact on your life is a bad way to live. Extrapolating it to other aspects of their lives and it looks pretty grim really.

Anyway on topic, I like the idea of incorporating some indigenous motifs. Have to say I've liked some of the more recent AFL indigenous round designs. The ones we had for the world cup bid were pretty bad though

Take the pineapple out of your arse for a minute.  What virtue signalling?  All I said was it looks good.  The fact that it happens to be a nod to our indigenous fellows is a bonus.  I don’t remember the papers being full of the vitriol you see here when Qantas painted their planes or the Athletes ran about with aboriginal motifs on their uniforms.

Thread was always going to go downhill.

Certain themes always bring out the same old tired debates, no matter how trivial the initial subject seemed to be.

Is a indigenous themed jersey anything more than a token gesture towards this nation's first peoples? No, but it will look nice. End of story.

Green and gold all the way. I like the new away kits, but I also liked the navy blue with gold trim.

By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.
