+xReady by May. They're 'aving a larf. It’s funny how all of a sudden, you’ve gone from “it’ll never be built” to “its small/it’s not gonna be ready by May.” The narrative is changing.

+xSurely someone can just put some photos up?? Im hearing rumours it wont be ready for next season I don’t know how to upload an image on this site, but the Wyndham Leader newspaper posted a paywalled article about the stadium last week. It starts with “Western United say they’re on track to move into their new Tarneit Base by the middle of this year. And they’re even looking to host some games there as early as next season.” Perhaps someone who has a Herald Sun digital subscription can post the full article? https://www.heraldsun.com.au/leader/western-united-plans-to-host-alw-and-npl-matches-out-of-tarneit-next-season/news-story/1796b810d8b994aa3afea733deda5121

Im hearing rumours it wont be ready for next season There is a paywalled article from the SMH, only able to read that WU plan to move into the premises July or August. Original date in May looks to be out. Npl and Women's team to use the 5k seat mini stadium and that's where the article ends.

+x+xEven though many of these rumours strangely seem to originate from similar ‘sources’, I just can’t see how WU is a viable business moving forward. It has no home, potential fans don’t care as their nomadic operation doesn’t stand still for long enough for anyone to connect to it, and it doesn’t even appear to be developing players to sell which will atleast help boost the finances.
Given that it really seems to have very little light at the end of the tunnel to improve things, and the property market fundamentals are very subdued currently, I want to be positive about things but I just can’t see how things stack up. Riding property value uplift as a result of your development activity is a very different thing to simply relying on property fundamentals and your valuation increasing because of the general market. The latter is speculation. The former is investment. Valid point but so far has there been any development activity? The training pitch is not (unless Im mistaken) on or near the housing estate?

+x+x+x+xI do enjoy the fact all the rumours magically start with SMH supporters aha I can imagine them all sitting in the stands on the weekend saying what a mate's cousin's Godfather's uncle heard at work from the guy who is mates with a guy who is married to the wife of one of the junior players fathers who heard two guys talking at training In all likelihood, they probably started the cooker conspiracy about Daniel Andrews and Lindsey Fox’s son in law :P They definitely started the "rumour" in 2018 that the fabled Western Wembley, 15k seater, privately owned stadium wasn't "shovel ready" in November 2018 :P But at the end of day, it will be their stadium. Unlike SM Hellas that has to hand it back to the government at the expiry of the lease so they can turn it into an AFL training ground or skateboard park......lol I wouldn't worry about too much Paulie, the lease is 40 years away from expiring.. Hopefully the 5th-6th generation of fans by then are savvy enough to re-negotiate another one... I wonder how many franchises will still be around in 2063???

+x+xSM Pete@SMEMUFCUNCONFIRMED RUMOUR: Current #TarneitFC investors have exhausted their available funds & are in late stage discussions to sell #WUFC to another property investment group. If new investors aren’t found, it’s understood the #ALeague franchise will cease to operate next year. Some guy on Twitter who wishes his team was in the A League instead of Western United doesn't really count as a credible source. He has his agenda, but he has enough material to heap constant shit on the ALM without making stuff up.

Hate to say it so but I would like to be proven wrong (for both clubs). However, with the persistent talks about a Canberra team recently then maybe a swap could happen? Swapping doesn't generate enough income to pay the interest on Silverlakes investment

WU is meant to be in the fastest growing area possibly in Australia, along with the Macarthur area. How can you not see the viability? They have been a pain (pardon the pun) because they have been vegabonds, nomads. With the 'government funded' initial homeground, the world will be a better place for them. A side thing, I noticed the name 'Wyndham City' on the back of they're apparell. Could mean a possible name change when they go to they're homeground.
