+xI can't see why they haven't been stripped of their licence. The only consolation is that they have to go bust sometime. win their last 4 games and they are ALM premiers. let it go mate. +xWell...I vaguely recall reading that the woman who negotiated the whole Wyndham deal is actually the Presidentt of an AFL club. Any Victorians out there who can confirm? Kate Roffey is Melbourne president, but that is a voluntary gig. she has quite a football background if you look up her bio.

Don't worry FTB, the Aloisi Effect will set in. Whichever way you look a it, they have been a debacle for the A League.

Its why all the players wear brass now...., ostensibly its pitched as a sports science latest and greatest thingamajig for performance analytical .... its purely coincidental that it has seen the online betting agencies perfect their bookmaking skills....,

https://thewomensgame.com/news/all-the-pieces-in-place-for-western-uniteds-future-a-league-womens-side-579124Just to clarify is the WU Women's team it's own thing or a rebooted Calder United? Either way, should they be allowed in they will have a women's team and have a proper NPL youth team whilst Macarthur have none of that.

Re branded Calder United FC .... killing off a strong women's only football club, VIC NPL powerhouse, to allow WMG to shoehorn themselves into yet ANOTHER undeserved Aleague spot. Much easier AND CHEAPER than setting up a women's program from scratch I suppose ... gotta be seen to be doing the bare minimum until the house and land packages start selling.........

Macarthur isn't a "huge football area". Registered player numbers at 10801(in 2020) were 3% of the population whereas the average for the whole of NSW is 4%. Having said that player numbers are well ahead of Rugby League which the last I saw was just over 4,000. The positive for the area is that it is a growth area with population increasing at 10,000 per annum. The new suburbs have between 5 and 7.5% of their population as registered players which augurs well for the region ending up well above the state average. I did some quick calculations based of the rate of population growth and its location and by 2041 the number of registered players in Macarthur alone could reach 30,000. Macarthur also claim to be a club for the whole south west and there are 8,500 registered players in Southern Districts association and another 6,500 in the Bankstown association. Both of these associations are in older areas which typically have lower player rates. The western area of Liverpool around the new airport is expected to grow at near 10,000 per annum too so the Southern Districts player rate, currently about 2.5% might end up being above the state rate of 4%. With player numbers like these the club has a bright future but at the moment there are way more kids than youth and senior players. It will take some time before the growth of the game will translate into the production of talented players that feed into the club. The difficulty Macarthur FC have is that the region has significant numbers of WSW and SFC members, said to total about 5,000, and as a result attendances before covid hit were expected to be in the 4 - 6,000 range. Hopefully they meet that level of attendance next season.

They don't play any games the northside of Sydney but seem to have done a deal using SU58's ground Edenser Park of all things. Just unreal.

Northbridge used to be in partnership with the Mariners but then swapped to MacArthur( the cash strapped Mariners probably did not help Northbridge financially). According to some figures nearly 20% of Mariners members are from Sydney's North Shore-certainly the Central Coast is a lot closer to the North Shore than the MacArthur region-better rail and road links particularly. MacArthur, being a new club,,should be cut some slack about developing ties with a NPL club and its juniors but moving their home games( hopefully only for the seniors) to Edensor which is miles away from Northbridge and still some distance from Campbelltown is taking it a bit far.

Like LFC said, the Northbridge-Macarthur connection is unreal - A North Shore club in partnership with a South-West Sydney franchise that doesn't play their games where the majority of their fans are located. I don't know what exactly is stopping them from forming their own NPL club from scratch like WU has without issues, but If they have to resort to building a partnership with an existing club then why didn't they go with the Macarthur Rams?

Booney thanks for the history, I know a bit about the background. (i know the Club, used to play against them, my son played played for them and I know quite a few around the traps) Can't agree on NB not making anything out of the CCM partnership for I'm sure NB got their cut for the copious amounts of SAP/YL squads they had during that tenure. For eg a 1st team was selected in U16's YL, they had enough numbers to enter another squad to compete so they threw them in the normal Club comps yet parents still dished out $2k +...... How many other age groups they did the same, near on every, thats our football, reap what you can from unsuspecting parents...... They didn't need $$ from CCM but the name and link, parents paid so they could say Johnny plays for the NSMariners despite many just playing normal Club comp. joke. Here's a lead up how quickly the Bulls arrangement occurred, it was fishy, I know that NB Pres was not popular due to this and alot of infighting was occuring prior to that arrangement. Many members didn't like the Club losing its identity, worse their PL1 squad who had only finally qualified making it to NPL1 in 2019, all of those long time players were discarded as well as the younger 1st's players and reserves. https://aleaguewrapup.com/they-took-advantage-of-the-clubs-vulnerability-the-secrets-behind-macarthurs-partnership-with-northbridge-fc/https://m.facebook.com/northbridgefootballclub/photos/a.593860187317941/3470023829701548/NB have re introduced their original Club name and their 1sts are playing in Premier League in the NSFA. What a fall from grace, some 4/5 levels below where they fought so long and hard getting to PL1. This kind of situation should not be allowed for new AL/APL Clubs. Its against the whole proper football pyramid. Gyfox, despite your registration numbers you know all too well its a great fishing pond for Football growth, SDA and Bankstown have strong comps and many promising players, yes the pond can only get bigger as development keeps spreading out there. Bulls are filling the void that WSW cannot reach it all let alone SFC - if only they did it a smarter way instead of Bulling their way through they might have got alot more respect from the general football supporter around those regions let alone what occurred to the NBClub and its supporter base. So history repeating itself down there it seems..

The clubs in the Liverpool and Bankstown area go through to the higher levels but most are located closer to Parramatta or Sydney than Lumeah.

The Macarthur region only has 2 clubs in the NPL, Camden Tigers and Macarthur Rams neither of which are strong at the moment although I would like to see more clubs like Tigers with 1,000+ players split between the local competitions and the SAP and NPL teams. The clubs in the Liverpool and Bankstown area go through to the higher levels but most are located closer to Parramatta or Sydney than Lumeah. It's amazing that, with that information you've provided, they approved their license in the first place. Money talks I suppose. in bold ain't that the truth re Franchising...... The numbers Gyfox brings doesn't tell the real picture if you've been around those traps at grass roots and NPL. Its a fishing pond and half, south of Liverpool right down to Campbeltown - across to Camden back up to Kemps Creek. Its massive AND as mentioned "growth" galore as more new estates open up. Have you ever attended Camden Tigers/Rams games Gyfox ? just wondering, especially when CT they were in PL3 couple of years back now in 4. Ofcourse none of those WSW would have jumped over why would they, thats IF they are still interested in the first place with such a drop off re the RBB etcetc what is the attraction to the Bulls since its start ? Rip off membership fees Already alienated the minor active support they got. Fixtures changed at last moments. I mean its just not a way to start up generating support from the ground up. Their NPL side plays @ Edensor Park otherside of Liverpool whereas there is a good syn pitch at Lynwood Park just moments from the Bulls being Rams (Emo is coaching there) home ground or the other 2 syn parks before Lynwood. Wouldn't you look to keep them close to build up support in your catchment. Agreed re that region having just 2 NPL Clubs to improve, that needs common goals set and funding, what our game has lacked to this day. The NSD and future outcomes may trickle down and grow the game where its needed more than Franchise Clubs looking ahead.

+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+xRe branded Calder United FC .... killing off a strong women's only football club, VIC NPL powerhouse, to allow WMG to shoehorn themselves into yet ANOTHER undeserved Aleague spot. Much easier AND CHEAPER than setting up a women's program from scratch I suppose ... gotta be seen to be doing the bare minimum until the house and land packages start selling......... That's what I thought as I remember a user here saying that WMG were pulling a 'Red Bull Salzburg' on Calder United. And yet Macarthur have neither that nor a proper NPL Youth team. At least MacArthur has their own home ground.Where they are in SW Sydney should ensure that they can organise a Women's team and a NPL Youth team as it is a huge football area-time will tell if they do that.WU really are like a headless chook -their signing of Diamanti their only real contribution to the A-league. Isn't Macarthur's NPL team based on the other side of Sydney and just EXACTLY the same thing as what WMG are doing with Calder ... a re brand/takeover of an existing NPL club? They took Northbridge's NPL1 club spot, a partnership it was announced as, dumped all the NB players to introduce their own. They don't play any games the northside of Sydney but seem to have done a deal using SU58's ground Edenser Park of all things. Just unreal. [/quot Northbridge used to be in partnership with the Mariners but then swapped to MacArthur( the cash strapped Mariners probably did not help Northbridge financially). It was always going to be one team from NSW and one team from VIC. In Vic the only genuine contenders were Team 11, WU and SMFC. Unfortunately the FFA were never going to green light SMFC even though they were matching the WU fee. Can't have old soccer play with new soccer and all that nonsense. Team 11 didn't have a stadium nor a solid commitment to build one. In NSW the only real contenders were Macarthur and Southern Expansion. Wolves withdrew as they couldn't compete with the others in relation to the fee. On paper Macarthur was the logical choice because Southern Expansion had this stupid 3 home ground idea.

Minor correction JC,, if Im not mistaken our bid was 2 mill more than WU's..... Pelligra took his money and bought Adelaide United instead....... agree with the rest :)
