+xHad no idea they were playing at North Hobart Oval until I saw the AL posted this on facebook. Anyway I'm intrigued on how it sets up as a venue. From my understanding, it's one of the more narrower ovals so more suitable to host football than say Docklands or the ballarat venue WU use for example. It also has an elevated terrace on the wing which would be cool to see on display hosting football. When I was 'all in' with emotional investment for the A-League 10-15 years ago I was hoping Tasmania United got accepted and converted North Hobart Oval into a dedicated football facility. Obviously a personal pipedream at the time. Ironically since then it seems like the NBL have actually made it a reality and the Jackjumpers have been very succesful with a parochial fanbase with an upgraded venue and high attendances. North Hobart has hosted AL M practice games before. If the pitch faces North /South like I saw an EPL rep team play Tas over 40 years ago, the big stands are side on. The more recent games have set the pitch in more of an East/West orientation and there isn't enough seating at the side of the pitch.

+x+x+x+x+x+xSo their stadium sorry training facility is supposed to be completed by may. Is there any update on how it's going? May ? That's quicker than I expected. I'd like to see some progress pictures or articles if any exist. Like the 2nd Division actually happening I'll believe it when I see it. Wyndham City has video updates on its youtube video. Last update I saw was October but it looked significantly progressed at that point. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0YCDQM0QUo&ab_channel=WyndhamCity That's been around for a long while. WU have put alot of energy into Tasmanua, is that a sign of an eventual shift further south? If funds have been promised by lib government but withheld, there may not be a 15k capacity Stadium at all. The training grounds at best. Has construction of the training grounds commenced again in January? Who knows. Do you have a salient point? I'm struggling to figure out what relevance this has to a post where i link a construction video. I think you're trying to say something broadly negative. Cool. World needs more of you... +x+x+x+x+xSo their stadium sorry training facility is supposed to be completed by may. Is there any update on how it's going? May ? That's quicker than I expected. Lib gov lost an election and forget funding for the main stadium. All in all, things look pretty shit. Cheer up

Really enjoyed attending the Western U double gender in Hobart this weekend.
The quality of the football on the pitch was great.
The main problem was that so many people interested in football, outside the current club milieu, didn't know that the WU double header was on. The mainstream media, particularly Murdoch's tabloids and the ABC TV, seem anti domestic Aus football. They primarily focus reporting on T20 cricket for both genders, tennis for both genders, national league basketball and of course both genders for AFL in this state.
Football Tasmania didn't have lot of info on their website, but there could have been collusion between Football Tas and Western U in accessing juniors players and giving out free tickets.
I intend to chase up the WU media person in the next few days.
On Feb 17th there is a Western U game in Launceston, that I will attend earlier the day and we can drive both ways, or, if we can find accommodation if it is on later in the day .
The Launceston Fairfax tabloid is far more domestic football friendly, when previous A L games have been held there.
If WU wanted to hold 5 games a season in Tas, and they have pro staff working in Tas, holding plenty of junior and youth coaching clinics, crowds will easily exceed those in Geelong.

+xManningham Council will manage usage of the new facilities by local clubs and the broader community.
Didn't Bulleen have their own ground managed by their social arm, the Veneto club?
Looks like they've gone backwards. Bulleen Lions did/do still have their own "privately owned" stadium at Veneto club Paulie, and will continue to do so.... This is a council ground, just like the one Whyndham council is building at Tarneit only with better facilities and training pitches. It will be used primarily by two local state league clubs, with full public access when the clubs mentioned aren't training or have match days, just like the Tarneit training base. Only difference is a franchise owner isn't trying to convince the gullible A league public that this is "their home"

As long as they are playing out of AAMI, the only point of difference they have is the colour green.

SM Pete@SMEMUFCUNCONFIRMED RUMOUR: Current #TarneitFC investors have exhausted their available funds & are in late stage discussions to sell #WUFC to another property investment group. If new investors aren’t found, it’s understood the #ALeague franchise will cease to operate next year.

They have done nothing but harm to the competition and were admitted only on a false promise. 9

Only difference is that it looks like the Bulleen ground will have 150 more seats and, 2 more training pitches and heaps more trees and bike paths.

+xSM Pete@SMEMUFCUNCONFIRMED RUMOUR: Current #TarneitFC investors have exhausted their available funds & are in late stage discussions to sell #WUFC to another property investment group. If new investors aren’t found, it’s understood the #ALeague franchise will cease to operate next year. Well if WU are on the 'brink,' how are they going three ways in propping up Jets, as the Jets just signed another foreigner from JLeague... As the pitches are more than 50% built, will they be left derelict halfway completed?

Separate entities all together. If the owner(s) have decided that WU is no longer worth their investment, it's completely separate to whether they still wish to spend money propping up the jets. If the rumor is accurate, it's not that the owners have ran out of funds, it's that they have come to a point in which WU is no longer viable for them and they need to move it on to a suitable buyer. As for the training pitches, as the council is involved I'd say it will be completed as planned.

Im hearing on the grapevine that the "new" property investment group is also majority foreign owned and is having second thoughts as the financial reports don't seem to be kosher at WMG...???? Just a rumour but a fairly strong one at this stage..... The good news for the A leaguers, is that the message seems to be that even if they can't sell the license the current group seems keen to continue operating the football department .... for now.

There are 3-4 current clubs in the area which are lining up to use them if WU folds..... the mini Western Wembley is going ahead :)

Hate to say it so but I would like to be proven wrong (for both clubs). However, with the persistent talks about a Canberra team recently then maybe a swap could happen?

For one, WU can stop assisting with the Jets, its contributing like the other two clubs, forget about the bullshit. Then, they arent spending anything on the training ground because its funded by the government. Therefore, its just hot air, hail hail.

Even though many of these rumours strangely seem to originate from similar ‘sources’, I just can’t see how WU is a viable business moving forward. It has no home, potential fans don’t care as their nomadic operation doesn’t stand still for long enough for anyone to connect to it, and it doesn’t even appear to be developing players to sell which will atleast help boost the finances.
Given that it really seems to have very little light at the end of the tunnel to improve things, and the property market fundamentals are very subdued currently, I want to be positive about things but I just can’t see how things stack up.

WU is meant to be in the fastest growing area possibly in Australia, along with the Macarthur area. How can you not see the viability? They have been a pain (pardon the pun) because they have been vegabonds, nomads. With the 'government funded' initial homeground, the world will be a better place for them. A side thing, I noticed the name 'Wyndham City' on the back of they're apparell. Could mean a possible name change when they go to they're homeground.

I do enjoy the fact all the rumours magically start with SMH supporters aha
I can imagine them all sitting in the stands on the weekend saying what a mate's cousin's Godfather's uncle heard at work from the guy who is mates with a guy who is married to the wife of one of the junior players fathers who heard two guys talking at training
