+x+xThe ground can add more seating. But might need to appease the people living near the ground Let’s be honest, they only really need a 6-7k stadium at max currently, creating a good atmosphere that can stay least bring some interest to the club . Getting approval from George Cross and the council would be interesting, especially with any additional traffic concerns (there is no PT there from what I have seen). They might as well use Somers Street if they can as it already has the facilities and the same no PT issue. Melton council might approve it but they also need objections to come in .

I don't think WUFC is going any where.
The financial rewards of all the free land is just too big a windfall, and the stadium will happen just not the way and timelines that everyone expected based on their AL application.
For WUFC to become a "successful club" would mean they have a stadium, preferably with a 15k capacity (but who really knows?), that has an average crowd of 10k.
Personally I don't see it, but the ground will be a form of multi-use so I expect to see concerts and some rugby games etc to make it pay for itself. Along with rents from medical facilities etc. and if they were smart make the ground surrounded by retail outlets under the stands. I've seen this in Europe, so I'd expect they will do same.
Realistically the team itself really doesn't mean that much in the bigger scheme of things.

+x+xYep it’s strange, but the George Cross complex is brand new and quite a good facility so it is an appealing option.
I’m waiting for them to try and get permission to put temporary seating in there and use that as their ground :) sounds like a half decent idea. But not having been there before, is there room to do this? I think the fences behind the goals are tall enough to hang the WU tarps from....

+x+x+xI just read on another forum that the WU office is actually closed up and empty, Yep, looks like they moved admin to Caroline Springs facility. Are they merging with George Cross or just squatting? It’s certainly something I have thought about as the rent money would be good but having them there with an academy just sees George Cross lose value in their own programs.
WU are just on a highway to nowhere if they don’t get a stadium built. That’s the only hope they have of surviving as a club. Might as well give up the licence and move on if there’s no chance of a stadium any time soon.

I work near there and before covid hit there was not a soul in there . Yep, seem to recall it had been up for lease for some time. I do wonder how many people they have working for them though anyway, as it seems to be a rather lean operation. Amazing that they signed DWH for 3 years. I certainly wouldn’t have had any confidence to move to WU if I was a player.
Looks like Kurto and Uskok have left the club though, so with a new manager and who knows how much else is changing, it’s an interesting time ahead. Hope he didn't fall for the old "We"ll build you a house mate, all yours, just sign here" and actually got a 3 year contract, for Australian dollars, in writing.

Let me guess they took over the Georgies base? Seriously they should stop fucking around and say were gonna be based in the city of Melton . That's where their NPL and youth teams are based out of and pretty sure that's where the seniors train as well. It is. Still find it strange they didn't chose any of wyndham's clubs as a base Yep it’s strange, but the George Cross complex is brand new and quite a good facility so it is an appealing option.

Uskok I think is rumoured to join wsw and Kurto is a strange one but considering he lost his spot to Scott doesn't suprise me I think I read that Macarthur were looking to sign Uskok, but yes Kurto just didn’t get another look in after Scott started getting game time. After so many heavy score lines, certainly odd they didn’t mix it up a bit. The end of the season was a mess for WU and I guess we will have to wait and see what the talk is about what actually played out in the future. The nosedive in fork doesn’t just happen, especially to the levels they were being smashed by. Seemed like rudan losing the playing group a lot quicker than rumours state. . They need to get the new appointment right and hope to hell that their ceo and board don't do what mv did when adp first came in

+x+x+x+xI just read on another forum that the WU office is actually closed up and empty, Yeah, they closed it during the peak lockdowns in Vic last year. No reason to have an office if the staff can't actually use it. Their offices never opened. It was for lease since they came in. The only thing connecting the offices was the signange . Their merch store is now an Indian clothes shop. HAHAHAHAHAAH I hate myself for saying this but I just cant help it: Considering their demographic, it was always going to be wasn't it? hahahahahahahahah The merch store had a sign saying coming soon. Then when the road works finished it was still coming soon and then it became the Indian store.

+x+x+x+x+x+x No info or reports. It could just be my perception but I do seem to recall Team 11 bid was pretty much a no brainer up until the 11th hour and after a meeting of the then outgoing FFA board and a delegation of the "clubs" - and the inevitable will they or wont they announce the two expansion bids before Stevie rides off into the sunset - Duvas Team 11 bid magically lost all govnmt funding and the WMG were announced.
That is just not true. Yes, the Team 11 was favoured if the stadium funding was forthcoming. But they were never a front runner because there was never any funding towards the stadium. They never received 1 cent and were never promised 1 cent from the government. WMG became the front runner the day they changed from being the Geelong based “Victoria Patriots” bid, to the WMG bid. Yeah, it's obvious that WU got over the line because they promised to build a stadium with private money, while Team XI was dependent on a stadium being built for them, without and no govt commitment had been forthcoming. Still, the problem is that WU have had no Plan B since they've decided that Geelong isn't viable and their stadium is still pixie dust. At least an SE Melbourne side could have, at a scratch, played at Casey Fields with some temporary stands on an interim basis. Agree. It’s just hard to see what WU can do next.
If they can play at Somers Street next season that would at least be a football specific venue, but ultimately it’s a fairly long way from their core target market further out in the west, and the venue has next to no PT access.
I know they keep saying they represent everyone from the Westgate to the Western region of Victoria, but as Wyndham is where they keep telling us the stadium will go, they need to put more effort into actually making a commitment to that area. That's what I keep posting on their Facebook page and they keep deleting it. Good to see that at least someone at the "club" is still employed. hahahahahahah Well the social media person is an mv fan who applied for the job.
