well we had someone banned for 5 years this week. Who knows what else might happen.

The club's newsletter this morning showed a very protective stance against media, ex-player and fan rumblings, (almost too protective for my liking), so watch this space cos i reckon they will be pouncing on these incidents.

First of all full credit to gold coast for the win, they had a plan and stuck to it and there results are not a true reflection of how they have performed.

Surprising not being a fan of there's like this squad more than when they had smeltz, culina and co

Second not that this had any effect on the game but Ryan sheppard calling a foul on Kamara for jugs&lager tripping over the ball in the 83rd minute.

Biggest disappointment is from start to finish Adelaide played in neutral gear

No risk no reward football

Watching the lady reds today even though form and history suggests a four goal defeat there performances are much better

Yep. i was in the east stand but after the final whistle it all unravelled. Weeks of frustration i spose. Security ran in to stop it.

There was also a near brawl out on Manton St after the game but it was nothing much.

Eitherway, there was hardly any away supporters tonight. These fights were all amongst ourselves.

The wheels have fallen off.

I sit in the stand just above the Red Army so i saw the fight. Some idiot launched at someone from the Red Terrace. No idea what for. Most of the Red Terrace are young teens, and this guy looked like a middle aged bogan. One cop capsicum sprayed them, which got everyone even angrier. Some idiots kept fighting, trying to act tough. Then having a go at police and security. Don't blame cops and security, you shouldn't be bloody fighting. Was not a good look at all. Always thought the Red Army was full of tools, but this tonight was disgraceful. Nothing will change. The club turns a blind eye to anything the Red Army does.

The Red Army are a disgrace. The Red Terrace were just supporting their club and that is why it started. And I agree; the cops and security did nothing wrong.

He was the one who started it. He leapt across 3 or 4 rows of seating to throw punches at a 16 year old, ffs. Him and his bogan mates are fucking idiots, they also managed to punch a 14 year old in the back of the head who had nothing to do with it.

It wasn't Red Army vs Red Terrace. Although their was a lot of people jumping to conclusions.

The only positive out of that game is that Teeboy looks good, should keep him on the bench to come in for 20-30 minutes a game for the rest of the season.

It was ugly, he and Djite should be bouncing the ball off each other and turning their defenders - but SVD is not making any positive moves at all. He has been so very negative in his general play, such a disappointment from someone who is so experienced and should be lifting the team.

I think SvD is just struggling due to a lack of decent service from midfield. More than any other player, SvD misses Marcos for delivery of defence cutting passes. I hope Kossie works on some swift movement from the back third to th front third. Without the x-factor of MF, the only way we'll create holes in an opposition defence is to move the ball competently and quickly through the middle before opposition defenders have time to get back into position. Confidence and a better structure/formation will help this. Coolen might have been talking, but I think the players had long since stopped listening, so their confidence was well down, hence the unwillingness to take a change going forward. this lead to the endless playing of the ball sideways and backwards(thinking safety rather than attacking with flare and verve.)

I don't think Serg is out of form. Last Friday he produced consistently good passes and some sublime skill. He also held the ball up. The issue is that the whole team seems down on fitness and that Serg gets no service at all. Coolen seems to have managed to play everyone out of position so much that no-one knows where anyone else is. Serg needs to be one-out to have a chance of scoring and that means he needs clever service that knows where he's likely to be - or - he needs players with real pace running off him. Bruce plays his heart out but is slower than a wet week and Dario.....well....he doesn't even seem to know where he is himself at the moment.

Yes I thought Serg was bloody brilliant and to be honest it looks like his passing has gotten even better from last season, he produced quite a lot of one touch passes that cut through GCU's defense, it was a joy to watch.

Kossie sizes up his Reds squad

by: Val Migliaccio From: AdelaideNow December 19, 2011 11:39AM

NEW Adelaide United coach John Kosmina was a keen observer at his first training session since landing the job yesterday.

Kosmina did not take the Reds session, preferring to talk with youth team coach Mike Valkanis while assistant Luciano Trani conducted training.

There appeared to be a spring in the step of the Adelaide squad as it was put through its paces with Reds players needing to impress Kosmina for a starting 11 berth against Sydney FC away on Thursday night.

Missing from the spirited session were Bruce Djite, Evgeniy Levchenko, Milan Susak and Serginho van Djik who are still under injury clouds while Cassio is still in Brazil undergoing rehabilition for a foot problem.

'a spring in the step of the Adelaide squad' = Val-speak for 'I demanded this change and things are better already'.
Looks like he's changed from bile back to positive non-news reporting. It will be interesting to see how much support Val gives the team in coming weeks, and how bile-free he remains if the second coming of Kossie doesnt produce a miracle.
