+x+xLooks like a good place to put a useless stadium in my home town. Prone to flooding in that area and nobody goes to watch any sports here anyway. But .... it debunks the idea that you need $300m+ to build a stadium. Not really. Anything half decent needs a roof Covering all stands, requiring far greater investment. Going el cheapo May appear to be a good solution, but doesn’t mean it will be a great outcome. WU need to find a better balance than its proposed stadium though, as the cost does appear to be profit over in that case.

+x+x+xIs it possible if this stadium gets built in the next 5years that a new Adelaide club could move in? I really want to learn more about how this proposed lifting field works. Multi-purpose venues are the future for taxpayer-funded facilities. Not a fan of the concept to be honest, and it probably wouldn't be that much cheaper than just building a separate entertainment centre. Football in Adelaide needs a proper home, not a venue where Adelaide Utd will probably get bumped from a finals match because there's a fucking Taylor Swift concert on. Hopefully United will have some heft as the anchor tenant, but you're not wrong. The reality is though that without the political power of the AFL and if clubs don't own their own stadia there'll have to be compromises with governments.

That is the perfect style stadium and size for all NSD clubs and NPL clubs to work towards and get funding for over the next 2years! This is the type of development all clubs should strive for... they could hold there own functions. i think sydney Olympic had something drawn up similar. Football needs to go local and be accessible...

+x+xLooks identical to Dolphin Oval in Redcliffe. Perfect stadium for A-League or second division. Honestly every team should have a stadium like this. At 23mil not too bad a price either. I always thought stadiums in AUS costed a shit load more. Isn’t WU stadium 180mil at 15k? They’d probably be better served by something like this. Still can’t see that stadium costing $23 million in Australia. Hardly get the base infrastructure of a stadium built for that, let alone everything else.
I agree that WU are likely best suited to a far more basic stadium in their case, but one that has cover overall all seats is a necessity.

+xAt first I thought that pic was a render of a friendly with Juventus, but they actually thought to depict a derby between Adelaide United and Adelaide City! And AC looking more dangerous away in the derby with a the corner

The location of the new Adelaide stadium looks great. I hope it goes ahead and it's not kneecapped for WC expansion like the Melbourne football stadium is.
Interesting that the Rocky stadium is on a new site by the river and not at Browne Park. Both great choices by each government, location makes such a difference in capturing casuals.

+x+x+xWe would also inevitably lose a beloved ground like Hindmarsh Stadium to property developers which would be devastating imo. If they held onto Hindmarsh and made the new ground 28-35k for Football/Rugby, that would at least cover most football events from NSD, FFA Cup, A-League and one off events like WCQ's without the need to go anywhere near Adelaide Oval. Have you had a look at Hindmarsh on google maps? The triangle site and surrounding heritage buildings make any upgrades or renovations look really difficult, it's something I've been scratching my head over for a while. Yeah i've seen it. The site is a fucking nightmare for expansion and i don't know what the solution is apart from building up the South East corner. I just don't want to lose the place. It's not Adelaide Away without being close enough to breath down the players necks I definitely love Hindmarsh away, don't get me wrong. I don't think I've missed a Victory game there in years. Never been to one at Adelaide Oval though. Hopefully this new hypothetical venue would replicate it as much as possible. I would speculate that the seating in football mode would have a reasonably high rake as it'd have to also work for the other modes with a lower point of focus.

+x+xAt least from Footballs point of view, this seems like exceptionally half arsed effort for us to support. Marginally closer to the city, an extra 6000 seats and a worse view considering they will make the pitch include a full Rugby Union in-goal area is not exactly anything to get too excited about and a 22k stadium is not going to make Adelaide anymore attractive to the FFA for Socceroos game. We would also inevitably lose a beloved ground like Hindmarsh Stadium to property developers which would be devastating imo. If it does materialise, AU fans should fight like the devil to stop the pitch being excessively elongated to suit rugby (which will probably never be played there anyway). Cardiff's Millennium Stadium is only 120m fence to fence, and hosts Wales international rugby matches. Anything longer is not needed, and will be detrimental to the main tenants. But I think 22k is probably around the right size. You don't want it to be too big or it'll kill the atmosphere, like Suncorp, the SFS, etc. I totally get that, 22k is more than ideal for normal club matches. I just don't trust Australian sporting administrators to not shit the bed anytime the prospect of a sellout comes up and try to move any big game to the nearby AFL oval. Adelaide is hardly going to build multiple stadiums and at least if it's around 28-30k, there is less chance of big games like finals or WCQ'S being moved to that shit whole.

In my ongoing self-deluded fantasy of someday seeing a home (men's) World Cup in my lifetime, I really hope that they learn from the mistakes made at AAMI Park and make it possible to temporarily get the roof on the south flank out of the way easily and cheaply and put in foundations around/on top of that "integrated DFO and cinema complex" for 18k temporary seats to get it up to the 40k minimum. It looks like there's enough space, based on those renders.

Ideally in the next three years so it can be part of the Women's World Cup instead of Hindmarsh, 22k is perfect for that and for Adelaide United's needs in the medium to long term. The location is a dream, would be great for away fans. I really want to learn more about how this proposed lifting field works. Multi-purpose venues are the future for taxpayer-funded facilities.

Is it possible if this stadium gets built in the next 5years that a new Adelaide club could move in? like an Adelaide City or another club? that would create a great derby and have home and away grounds with Coopers and still give the government approval for a football club to play out of it.

That riverbank stadium does look impressive. If they can get that up then you’d think Canberra would have to follow suit. with money being supplied by the Vic government for western United they should look to start there stadium next year. Team 11 if granted a lisense could also build a stadium. townsville new stadium is under used and needs an ALeague club. new sydney stadiums planned also. plenty of new stadiums to look forward to over the next 10 years I must say

I think smaller investments to upgrade clubs facilities and to get better seating/grandstands around the country is what the FFA should be looming for over the next 3years under the banner of women’s football. This will only help NSD clubs to gain minimum requires and benefit football in the long run.

There is a video to watch on link but it is paywalled on to read “ A multipurpose sports and entertainment arena planned for the Riverbank would have a field that turns into a roof and create almost 6000 jobs, a newly-revealed pitch video reveals. “ https://www.google.se/amp/s/amp.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/news/south-australia/dramatic-video-reveals-full-plans-for-second-riverbank-sport-and-entertainment-stadium-with-elevating-soccer-pitch/news-story/ee7cad3c82bc77354f5860538bacb558
