Pales in comparison to melbourne greek restaurants, but i had a keo beer which is surprisingly decent for a bottled beer. Would love to try the tap version

It all depends on who the referee appointed for the match is I suppose ... we ALL know who will get the whistle so I may be able to tell you the "preordained" outcome, 15 mins before kickoff..... 

If its a neutral ref, the match should be a corker... Whoever sores first, especially if it is lateish in first half will have the wood of the game.. If it goes goalless or tied until mid second half we may see some very pretty football from both teams, depends on who wants it more... Both have firepower up top, South have a slightly more organised defence but Oakleigh midfield is quick and ruthless...  I also predict at least one, if not two reds for this one...... Ill have a knot in my stomach until 3pm Satuday... either way, lets see what the football gods decide. 

Ah okay. Crazy to think when i was playing there, the ground was trash, could barely even see the scoreboard haha. Hopefully the renovations come out nice. As for the game, I won't make it, haven't been to many games this year either, so I'm not sure who wins this one. Oakleigh seem to have a habit of beating south in finals though haha. Best of luck to both teams.

Dockerty Cup is supposed be played at a neutral venue according to the brainiacs at FV however, as Oakleighs ground is being renovated at the moment and Oakleigh has been playing "home games" at the Home of the Matildas that seems to be a good enough home ground advantage for someones wife...... Makes sense really to have a final on a Saturday, which would draw 5-6 thousand if it was played at Lakeside, played at a ground with 2000 seats ... but then NOTHING surprises me anymore with FV.

So like how relevant/important/special is the dockerty cup? I'm not in the country at the moment, so not up to current info, but why isn't the game played at either Oakleigh or Souths home ground?

Hmmm objectively NO, not really... Both South and Avondale have been top 2-3 in the VIC NPL for the last 6-7 seasons at least (with a few slumps in form from both) 
This year we have promoted a bunch of the U23s and brought in young players from other clubs, i guess, with the intention of blooding them for next season. 

The feeling around the club though is that this is still the league we are in and aim to win this year, as well as the Dockerty Cup AND the Australia Cup... Next season is next season sort of thing. A few of our veteran players may very well be considering leaving us at the end of the season with the aim of continuing on in NPL as semi pro players to balance work and life with football but the youngsters we have are very hungry to prove their metal and have been performing well this year...  The December transfer period is going to be the litmus test, once all clubs have been announced I would presume a whole bunch of players would be looking to get signed up but the NST clubs.... 

I'm curious, have you seen a noticeable difference in player performances/attitudes, etc when compared to the last few seasons? Does it seem like players are consciously competing for a spot in the Championship? As an outsider looking in, it looks like it would be too much of a coincidence that the two confirmed Vic Championship clubs are also 1 and 2 on the table.
