+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+xNext season will be even more interesting than this season in some respects. Ange will have a proper pre-season and opportunity to recruit which will strengthen his squad. In saying that, Giovanni who has also come into Rangers mid-season has also quickly got Rangers performing under his watch, has one hand on a Europa title and has shown he can get his team to edge out Ange. There will be two strong and well-organised Scottish teams in Scotland next season and it will be very interesting to see which one can get the upper hand on the other. Rangers have an ageing squad and no funds to spend other than if they win the Europa league. Keep hearing this, but we still acquire players. Apart from McGregor , Davis, Arfield and Balogun who are the ageing players, you know like 33+ year old. Average age is only 27, peak years. Take out the old guys and that drops by a bit. I will list those Rangers players who are 29 years and older: McGregor 40 Davis 37 McLaughlin 34 Balogun 33 Arfield 33 Ramsey 31 Tavernier 30 Jack 30 Goldson 29 Holander 29 Barasic 29 Roofe 29 44% of the squad is 29 years of age and older. Feel free to disagree but to me that is an aging squad. See, I never used any vulgarities towards you. No. There was no vulgarity but there was another personal attack/name calling. You have a propensity towards both. Why? Are you so insecure that you feel that you have to use personal putdowns? Or is it that you feel that it strengthens your argument if you belittle a poster? Harden up ffs , you come over all passive aggressive then crack the shits when someone has a pop back . I doubt many are as "hardened up" as I am. I don't believe you know what passive aggressive means. Have a pop back? SB has been at it for years and it is time it was put an end to. Football opinions are influenced by emotion, particularly when they involve a team you support..But I try to be as objective as I can backing up my opinions with facts. Anyway, Ange has performed a miracle this season. Please be gentle by trying to finish me. BTW my last shite was harder than you. ...While suffering from COVID?? Figure of speech.

Ange exceeded my expectations by finishing one place higher.
Will be fascinating to see how he handles Europe. He went for it this season but that didn't work out so well. Wonder if that lesson will result in a more pragmatic approach?

+xAnge exceeded my expectations by finishing one place higher. Will be fascinating to see how he handles Europe. He went for it this season but that didn't work out so well. Wonder if that lesson will result in a more pragmatic approach? I imagine how Ange sends them out to play will depend on how many and what quality players he brings in over the summer. If he can make CCV and Jota permanent and then add another five or six players of that quality I wouldn’t be looking for a huge change of style. That said, his 2014 World Cup campaign was actually fairly pragmatic and accounted for what was relatively poor cattle given the opponents and was accordingly not all out attack and while the Socceroos didn’t win a match they weren’t embarrassed either. What’s all that mean … who knows, I don’t know any more than anyone else. I just think Ange would prefer to improve his players at playing his way rather than change tactics.

Would people be happy if Ange brought G Kuol to Celtic?

+xWould people be happy if Ange brought G Kuol to Celtic? It would surprise me. Too young and unproven. Years ago, before I had studied Celtic closely, I couldn’t understand how Celtic fans referred to Arzani as a development or project signing, given he had played at a World Cup (albeit cameo appearances). Now I get it and realise I was ignorant about Celtic and Scottish football. I still have lots more to learn in fact. But Celtic have a youth set up that would make us weep in Australia and they don’t need more project signings. They still sign young players, like Ange signing Abada at 19, but they need to be very very polished for their age and able to be thrown in to the battle. I reckon Ange’s signings will be with Europe in mind but we’ll see I guess.

+xKewell is set to team up with Ange and join Celtic as a first team coach. Harry was my favourite player but he hasn’t been great shakes as a coach, however if Ange thinks he’s good enough to bring into the coaching team that’s good enough for me. Harry will learn a lot about coaching from Ange and the professional coaching environment at Celtic.
More significantly for Celtic, the permanent signing of CCV is very good business. Possibly Celtic’s best player last season and a rock at the back. Pops up with some good goals sometimes too. Great news so early in the transfer window.

His Champions League experience (albiet as a player) will be invaluable this coming season.

Ange has brought him in as part of the coaching staff, so I assume that’s what he’ll be doing, we’ll see I guess. The templates of manager and coach overlap somewhat and even differ from club to club, and differ based on personality and age at times i.e. coaches grow into managers, whatever their title. Whatever anyway, good move for Harry.

Ange saving Oz football again lol but what a great idea. Harry will learn so much tactically, but I think this also gives Ange another string to his bow to help the younger players with a guy who broke into the EPL as a teenager and won a UCL medal. Can't wait for next season.

Celtic have signed Swiss Benjamin Siegrist as their backup keeper from Dundee United. Good signing, younger than Hart and had a good last season. Rumours that a left back from Argentina and a holding midfielder from Guinea-Bisau on the way too. Just rumours though, same with the Jota permanent signing, which is still a rumour. Still, shaping up as a good signing window with a lot of business done before pre-season, which is very neat and professional. Scales on one year loan to Aberdeen done already too.

As an Ange fan since his South Melbourne coaching days and a Harry fan since the 1997 debacle against Iran, this is a dream matchup for me. I hope it works. Harry seems quite humble and respectful about joining the Celtic coaching team, which bodes well.

Celtic sign 21 year old Argentinian Alexendro Bernabei from Lanus. A left back, he will compete with Taylor for the starting spot. Looks very quick and gets forward well but apparently is a bit suspect in defence. Also might be a hot head, as he got sent off for head butting in his last match. Him nutting someone in a derby match might be interesting! Celtic now just need to announce Jota and sign a left-sided central defender and Ange will get a pass mark for this transfer window I reckon. They’ve also been active sending a few players out the door, albeit on loan but getting them off the wage bill.

Now Jota just announced by Celtic, in time to go to Austria with the rest of the team on Monday for the pre-season camp. Very good business this signing window, securing loanees CCV and now Jota and also bringing in a GK and left back. All one month out from the first competitive match, with six friendlies scheduled before then. Even if any other new players come in quite late, such as a central defender, the squad is so much stronger now than 12 months ago, when it was threadbare and a bit of a joke. Ange was fielding kids and wantaways like Christie and Eduoard in the first few competitive games of last season. None of this guarantees success but still, this is all very positive signs regarding the season ahead and quite professional and well organised.

His last job he never won a game at Barnet in the National league FFS.

Notts County appointed him when they were bottom of the table. He got them out of the relegation zone and then got sacked after 10 weeks.Notts County then got relegated under their new manager. Oldham have had 18 mangers in the last 7 years. He lost 5 and drew 2 in the 7 games he was in charge of Barnet. They finished 18th out of 23. Maybe it had something to do with the quality of the players.

And I don’t expect everyone to be sunny side up about all Aussies abroad, but I am starting to wonder whether you actually hope Ange and now Harry do poorly because they are Aussies? This might be an unfair slur from me. And maybe you are now just so negative about Harry because he is at Celtic? Serious question, which I pose to Celtic fans here as well. If your favourite Australian player (for me Harry) or Manager (for me Ange) was signed by the club you hate most in the world, could you still wish them well or would you be unable to separate your own hatred and therefore constantly shit on the joy of others - not just a question for SB?
