For me I'd go with
                              Ryan
Atkinson   Sainsbury  Degenek       Behich
                             Dougall
                  Hrustic         Rogic
Boyle                                                Goodwin
                              Cummings

Don't mind that at all. The wingers can feed and shoot. Hrustic Rogic together will either be good or disaster. If they can move it quickly it'll be exciting to watch.

The thing that bugs me about Irvine is his constant gesturing and high level frustration when a goal is conceded. If he gave as much effort when he's near the ball then maybe he wouldn't look out of place. Sainsbury on the other hand seems to drop his head every time. It's a quick instant reaction I suppose but there's just less poise amongst some of the players.

Atkinson.           Sainsbury.     Wright.       Elder.
                                   Hrustic

                    Irvine.                 McGree

                                  Rogic/ Genreau

                    Cummings.         Boyle.

You've got Hrustic and Genreau the wrong way around...

Also, Irvine has been completely anonymous in recent games. I always loved him for the Roos but doesn't even make the squad now IMHO. Devlin for Irvine.

Otherwise, good team.

Hrustic, Mooy and Rogic are all great on their day, but tend to disappear in recent Socceroos matches. I wouldn't trust them all together. Definitely needs some grunt in the middle of the park - McGree and Genreau for me. Goodwin is a decent option, and Cummings.

Agreed. Starting with Mooy and Rogic together is an invitation for the opponent to run rings around us in the middle of the park.

McGree in for Mooy. As much as I love the guy, he hasn't played in months, so can't see him being fit enough to start.

:D why I put Goodwin there in my edit.
I'd even consider Tilio but Goodwins experience is good for me.
IF he starts up Mabil I'll be pissed once again might I add.

Hrustic > McGree    Mooy    Rogic    Dougall > Goodwin 9 goals 7 assists in APLM
Boyle    Cummings > Daggers 10 goals in APLM same as Cummings but a strong mover for the ball and robust

question - McGree why not in starting line up ?

Yeah i know- would be tough call not to start him over Hrustic but either could start and then possibly subbed for the other
Rogic has to start as AM though for sure

To clarify my Jedinak thoughts. Of course he was bloody brilliant. Seeing him score those important goals will never be forgotten. Indeed there were definitely periods where his battering ram deployment made for risks in the game. There were moments he was trailing, not paying attention in build up, misplaced passes.

Yet I never expect a player to have 100% stats. We know those types of supporters who feel every shot must go in.

I stand by my statement. If Jedinak weren't so revered for his leadership skills and we'd had someone else who could play box to box then he could well have been out of the team.

I think with the next bunch coming through we were getting anxious as to whether he'd still perform or be a block like the previous bunch under Holger.

I think he got better with age. Pre 2015 was occasionally a time where a lot on this forum felt we need someone a bit more mobile. Luongo filled that. Mooy came along. Irvine entered the frame. Rogic was there. It was always going to be a tricky mix and match with those guys. Evidently Jedinak came in when it mattered and glued things together.

I think what I fear is that someone such as Genreau may miss out with Arnold favouring someone like Stensness hoping to create the next Jedinak. Arnold was also really into Carl Valeri. A good player but I was never able to appreciate what he did. I guess if you don't notice a midfielder that's not always a bad thing.

Is this the same Jedinek that single handedly kept CP above relegation for 3 years, the same Jedinak who single handedly got us through the Honduras Play-off by scoring a dead ball hatrick, the Same Jedinak that was a God from the spot, not missing once in top flight, the same Jedinak that held multiple annual records for tackles, and interception in the best league in the world over multiple season!!!

And he's comparable to stensness and Milligan???

Yeah Jedinak was underrated if anything way above those two. Was deadly from set pieces also for CP.

Settle mate, I wasn't putting him in the same mould thats for sure but pointing out their debuts @ 17yrs < importantly and the type of players they would have been and played U21 NT games/Snr games etc compared to where Kuol is green as to date (good on him doing well showing great promise) let alone thrown into the frying pan of a must win NT game.
Is he worth a shot ? who knows you can only speculate just as you say in the hope he can create something from nothing against farfar better defense than he is dealing with.
If anything D'agostino with runs on the board/form with Tilio and Boyle either side for eg. Aussie Bruno ? :) Cummings maybe another wild card ??

Yep. I would even start Daggers/Cummings over the usual jmac and Duke. Duke plays in J2 which is definitely no better than AL but still gets cap after cap 😡 makes my blood boil tbh
G Kuol although very green, has X factor that will probably be needed in 2nd half imho

Nobody comparing him to Lukaku or Bale. But in the likely case that Roos are down by a goal against UAE with 20 minutes to go who would you rather sub on for a late equalizer? JMac, Duke (assuming they don’t start) or G Kuol? Can’t imagine anybody else creating something from nothing like he could

Rene should be sacked. Blokes been on every single UK sports program to talk about united in the last month. Not a single mention of the socceroos, I understand thats not his job but fuck me dead. Some sort of growth of our sport would be great. But the people involved need to help grow it. Could of simply added it in with a bit of stick about the old convicts fuck anything will do. fucking hell.

well if you think he's at the calibre of Bale/Lukaku or of late young Gavi all @ 17 on debuts go for it.......

I don't think he's anywhere near these type of players ability same age and doing a season in AL is no where near the pressure/time and defense's at NT levels.
Sure he might show great promise but in this must win situation I wouldn't bet on it if it ever happenned.

As much as I love young Kuol he is not ready for a Socceroos call up.Yes he should have passed to players who were in better position in the Newcastle game but at 17 he gets excited when he gets near the goal and shoots.

Disagree with this. The thing that is most impressive about Kuol is his grace under pressure given his age. Look at all his goals so far and they were the product of great technique plus a cool head. Especially his beautifully placed goal against WU.

Had every right to shoot the other night, but it was a great last ditch tackle that stopped him scoring.

Theres no issue with worrying about JMAC now anyways, he’s already said he’s not available because his missus’ best friend’s old neighbour is opening up a beauty salon and the launch party is that night.

Hopefully Duke goes to party too 😉

Want:
Dougall Luongo
      Rogic

Expect:
Stensness/Hrustic Irvine
         Rogic

Look, Stensness will have club form by then but I fear he's going to be the next sloth we put in our midfield that will be a traffic cone. If Jedinak weren't a leader, he'd have been out of the team very quickly. The same goes for Milligan. I love both of them and they got better with age but god were there some very frustrating times. Milligan redeemed himself massively in 2015 and then went on well and was fortunate we didn't have any better centre backs. Jedinak's leadership was paramount but Luongo should have started against Peru.

Until we can find a 6 who can pass and defend then we'll have to persist with the battering ram. It's true from analysis that Hrustic and Irvine get massively exposed as the last man so they're not a 6. Metcalfe and Genreau are great prospects for the next cycle. I'd like McGree and even Hrustic to be out wide for now to have fewer headaches as I want to build something around Metcalfe and Genreau by 2026.

Is this the same Jedinek that single handedly kept CP above relegation for 3 years, the same Jedinak who single handedly got us through the Honduras Play-off by scoring a dead ball hatrick, the Same Jedinak that was a God from the spot, not missing once in top flight, the same Jedinak that held multiple annual records for tackles, and interception in the best league in the world over multiple season!!!

is anyone able to confirm whether the stadium we're playing at is the one with the closed roof and AC? If not, we’re probably talking about 35 degrees, even at 9pm local time.

J Mac isn’t good enough to be the main man for the Roos. But you can’t say that around here because people get too precious.
His link up play is atrocious, he only affects games when he scores. That’s it.

Off the bench late on when we are pumping crossed in and need a poacher

Who gets precious over JMac? He's pretty much universally panned here, at least in terms of the Socceroos. Could he be as damaging for the Socceroos as is at club level if he were given the right service? Maybe, but that's not going to happen so there's not much use picking him. Certainly not as first choice.

I love JMac but to me he's just gotta be an option off the bench if we need a goal in the dying stages, clinical finisher but not too much else to his bow.

Cummings, Daggers or Bruno are much better options in terms of starting strikers.

JMac isn't the type of striker to score goals like Daggers did last night.
