Melbourne Victory before Glover incident -  whether we love them or hate them - helped draw bigger crowds to AL, both home and away. AL is probably fucked without them tbh

Yep. No MV = no A-League pretty much.

how funny would it be if glovers single flare throw puts Melbourne Victory into Administration.

Glover did no ‘throw it back where it came from’

he had his back to the crowd. And the flare did not come from that part. So how does he know where it came from?

He lobbed a flare indiscriminately at people in a crowd. In any league in the world he is off. And suspended.

Ffs I’ve seen people get grabbed by cops for simply picking one up that’s on the ground.

In no way is it supporting the idiots that threw them, but it’s lunacy to suggest what he did is not exceptionally dangerous and dumb.

Thanks.  That would require the referee to decide that excessive force was used which it appears he didn't in his match report.

Thats where old mate VAR comes in.

He wasn’t inciting violence. He had lit flares thrown at him all game by the nitwits behind his goal. Good on him for throwing one back.

Flares thrown on the ground near Glover doesn't excuse him throwing a flare into a crowd of people. One group of peoples shit behaviour doesn't excuse his shit behaviour. What he did was dangerous.

Is it an offence against the LOTG or an FA rule on behaviour?

Could be either. Could be both. That's a question for JJ and the governing body.
JJ wouldn't have said 'he gets away with it', if there was nothing to get away with.
If they identified the Glover did nothing wrong, they would have said something along the lines of 'we've investigated the incident and concluded that there was no wrong-doing by Glover'. Instead JJ said 'Glover gets away with it'.

Also the fact that the quote from JJ was ‘Glover gets away with it on this occasion’ indicates that the governing body have identified that Glover did in fact commit an offence, but they are choosing not to punish him.

I’m not defending the actions of the thugs in crowd! Glover broke the rules which warrants a red card. Clear as day. FA weak as piss again

It would be a red card in normal times. Unfortunately, the morons in the crowd decided to all but kill our only professional competition in the immediate aftermath, making what Glover did seem benign and irrelevant. Glover threw a flare back where it came from. The imbeciles in the crowd basically killed the A League. They made it impossible to punish Glover as that would imply some sort of equivalence where there is none.

Incitement of violence by a player is a red card offence. Imagine if keeper at WCUP threw lit flare into crowd - straight red. But backwards Australia they let it slide. Some AL refs wear Fifa badges on thier shirt but don’t enforce Fifa rules 😡

Thanks for answering my question BT.  I am actually after the specific law or laws of the game that might be used to cover this situation and any administrative methods outside the laws that may apply.  I have seen it covered by the English FA in one of their rules that is additional to the laws.  In that case the player was charged for throwing the smokie back into an empty part of the stand after the referee took no action on the pitch.

Muz the referee on forum is your man for specifics

What a lesson for keepers. You can throw a lit flare into crowd at AL game and not get even a yellow card for it. Go nuts then! ☄️☄️☄️☄️

Yep. This article confirms it. JJ said ‘Glover gets away with it on this occasion’

He threw a lit flare into a crowd of people and could have seriously injured someone- whether it was deliberately thrown into crowd or not.
Piss weak FA. What’s the point of Fifa Red card rules if they are not followed?!

Victory as a club are paying a price- why not Glover?!

Either the Ref sends him off first

Or if not, VAR must tell him he's missed it, then the ref has to look at it again and send him off.

That's the rules

I don't think it will, but now Victory have been punished and the match rescheduled then any punishment or sanctions for Glover should follow fairly quickly so all parties can move forward.

I wonder if the APL need to rethink their plan of continuing this game from the 22nd minute. The MRC allegedly could not "deal with" the Glover incident and said basically nothing they could do. Glover has been seen by the APL as the injured party, and escaped sanction at this stage. Reconvening the game demands that the referee deals with the dangerous action of Glover in throwing the lit flare into the crowd.

This also raises the point of how can the MRC deal with a game before its conclusion? If the game is started from the 22nd minute, then it has not concluded. By commencing the tribunal hearing into the game, surely the APL have deemed the game to have been completed.

Interesting points.
