+x+x+x+xPerth vs Brisbane is on tonight On a Tuesday night. If more than a thousand people stream this match on Paramount I'd be very surprised. Paramount starting to treat the league like Fox did. Been wondering about this since they announced the reduction in money to the A-League based on low subscriber and TV viewing numbers which was a surprise to me that they had this written into the contract. (Smart on their part.) I wonder if they're not deliberately running it into the ground to get out of their contract with the A League. Thoughts? I'd say they're just being pragmatic, if certain metrics in ratings and streaming are not being met then games are going to be scheduled at times and days that is essentially just filler. The fact is Paramount/10 was the only entity that bothered to bid on the rights for the A League and although no one would ever admit it they are probably fairly ambivalent about the decision considering how things are going and the FA are probably nervous. I wonder if the APL consulted their broadcaster before they made that idiotic decision to sell the Grand Final to some cheesy tourist mob. I thought Stan sports bid for it as well but they offered less and wouldn't have us on a main channel?

I get all A-League games live from overseas using the Amazon stick. Better than trying to scramble for games in Australia.

Paramount if poor for everything not just the league.
For a company that has so much money behind it I'm amazed how poorly they launched the product here. Almost like they didn't believe they could compete with other streaming services so went in half arsed just as a test which is an awful strategy.
As far as the A-League goes it's getting harder to find on the app (I guess there's a easier to find sports tab) but if you just click watch now it used to go to the latest live game now it just starts a random replay from Rd1.
Obviously I know how to navigate it but I swear they have made it harder not easier

It's probably a cheap product for them that is a content filler. And no need to spend anymore on the service. The problem is everyone thought this was a deal of the a lifetime for the sport, and thought P+ were in it for the game. Foxtel always was the best tv deal our game has ever had. And I'd still prefer it on there.

Are them over in the west really Australian? They seem different, even more than the Tasmanians.

+x+x+xTaggart can't play for Perth until the 10th or 11th January Apparently Beevers has spat the dummy. Neither Beevers nor Ryan Williams in the line up for tonight's game. Our opponents must enjoy a guaranteed 3 points when they're scheduled to play Perth. You were saying Heh. My reverse-jinx strategy worked!

+x+x+x+xTwo own goals two deflections red card Not to mention being totally outplayed. In the second half after the send off for sure. First half take out the own gola and we had the better chances and I never felt that worried with all the pointless posession the mariners had. Second half was one of the best of all time collapses in aleague history. First time in 17 years I have switched an Adelaide game off before the end. We will be lucky to scrape into the finals at this rate and to think pre-world cup I had my eye on 2nd place the way we were going. Too many kids in key positions and too many idiotic red cards and penalties by the old players. Struggling to think of any - the only one I can think of was when Vukovic was unsighted until late and spilled his first attempt? I've re-watched the first half and I will amend: We had as many and possibly more dangerous attacking forays into the box in the 1st half.I never felt that worried about the game until the red card. We clearly set up to counter and most of the game was played in front of us till then. While we were certainly 2nd to 50 50s and our children gave up countless needless possession I felt like it was going to be a frustrating 1-0 or 1-1 game till the red.

+x Just an aside from the Mariners games last night a couple of interesting observations from last night from the side lines....
- Goodwin being warmly applauded when he left the pitch ... no doubt some recognition of his WC campaign - with the crowd acknowledged in return. this is the type of fan behavior that the APL should be drawing attention to
- Goodwin also signing autographs on the pitch after the match. i am not sure who instigated this but it seemed a popular enough decision ... and credit to him after his side had had their arses handed to them
He is a class act and kudos to the fans for his applause after being subbed. I saw this on the highlights. My tele was long turned off by then ha ha

As much as I'd like to think Goodwin scored 2 goals at the world cup the second was going into Row Z. Would have been given as a penalty had it not gone in though. Tilio's goal was a deflection. Was aiming for far corner. BUT a great run and well deserved. Had a terrific game.

The last few years in particular I've warmed up to Goodwin so much that he's truly an A League legend. First A League based Australian world cup scorer? That's a great question, was Smeltz the first ever A League scorer at a WC? Yes, Smeltz was the first AL WC scorer. Goodwin has scored 2 WC goals (I'm giving him the Argentinian strike, not an own goal), Leckie as an AL player has scored 1 WC goal and Duke as a recent AL player has scored 1 WC goal. Goodwin is a very intelligent footballer. I'm very proud of these guys! I love telling all the non-football fans, who I drink with, about their exploits and the Socceroos finishing 11th in Qatar!

Some good football on display from Melb City.
Loved Tilio's running with the ball for some distance at speed, a left foot body swerve/shoulder around a defender and a neat shot into the corner for a superb goal!
Maclaren scored yet another classic striker's goal from a sage position in the pen box. He should stay at City, and renew his contract and forget moving abroad. There are few scenarios anywhere in world professional football where potential Socceroo strikers are scoring a lot of goals.

* Pathetic keeping from Redmayne. Didn't need to come out and got himself isolated metres out from his goal line. * I hate VAR, both for the offsides and for the penalties and the disallowed goal. It's ruined football as far as I'm concerned. Get rid of it. * The red cards were 100% correct despite Talay going off his brain on the sideline. * Corica must be on thin ice, lacklustre, no movement, misplaced passes galore, as I always say. A Corica team is very, very easy to play against and Talay setup his team perfectly.
I suppose when Lolley and Brattan and Wilkinson come back things might be better.

+xFirst : there are more than enough quality footballers playing aleague, in the academies and even in NPL, the problem is when you put them together into an aleague team and you try to get them to play as a team is where it fails. Just look at the teams in the comp at the moment and it tells you the whole story. To me there is only the CC who I'll watch knowing that it will be a quality team effort. MC and AU are inconsistent and the rest are just poor and not worth the time to watch.Second : There is only one aspect of goal scoring that is essential and that is scoring goals. It don't matter whether you like or dislike McLaren but he does his job well, in fact, better than anyone else. Third : The people who are not going to the game know that the team play is rubbish and don't want to waste there hard earned, especially in the current economic environment. How do we fix this problem : Better coaches. I watch the academy teams play and it's a pleasure until they get into the first team and then it all disappears. Not sure how you can say MC are inconsistent. They have 8 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss. They are by far the most consistent team this season.
