It’s a shame that none of our GKs have a single senior appearance between them. None of them are even 2nd choice keepers at A-League level - these guys aren’t even making match day squads. 

Definitely cause for concern.

I'll have to have a deeper look at our young keepers of age who are playing.

Actually very excited to see Rawlins who has already been at U23 level. Matt Dench from Charlton is an interesting one and Archie Goodwin is important and will hopefully deliver.

That first half typifies Australian football issues to a tie, the inability to be functional in possession and be able to create chances when they have the ball.

This isnt an issue with just this under 20 level but goes at all levels including the Socceroos and Matildas as well.

The under 17s had similar issues in that tournament in Turkey as well.

We just not good in possession or forced to create chances and rely alot on counter attacks and set pieces which we are comfortable more doing.

We need to be much better second half otherwise we could miss out on another u20 World Cup very easily here, at least gives us functional football?

Having a browse over previous tournaments. Leckie and Amini went all the way from the 2010 runner up batch. Gameiro absolutely mauled the tournament in 2012 which gave us the 2013 Brillante rocket goal. It's interesting that anyone who seemingly killed it at this age (Bulut) never made it and our full internationals came along much later. If a young striker today scored 6 like Gamerio did we'd think everything is solved up top.

When we got to final third they got ideas what to do. There are no one with ability to run and  break their defence.  Movement are slow and predictable. Sad day for Australian football.

Any team with Wiltshire involved with coaching will struggle

The second half wasn't any better, seriously something needs to change here and I don't think the talent is an issue as well its which ones are selected and how they are used.
I think the curriculum needs an overhaul too, the talk about playing pro-active and effective possession but its not working at this level.
It may had an effect a decade ago when the document was first created but these days it seems like an outdated method when the opposition teams see how Australian teams play with the ball at this level.
And its very predictable!

Plenty of Match highlights on the channel. Such an important international experience for ours players. I still feel there's a lack of seriousness in preparation, selection and demeanour from ourselves.

The U23 last year looked alright but also had shabby moments where I shook my head. 

Agreed, we are still incredibly naive when it comes to these tournaments especially at u20 level. Whilst we may believe the players who have debuted in A-League are the best players to represent us, it comes down to form at time of selection, and a lot of these guys have not played much A-League, let alone football in the past 3-4 months apart from Triantis.

NPL football only just started, so most of these guys would not have played much competitive football for the last 6 months if they hadn't have had sporadic game-time in the AL.
