Top game and great effort by the Mariners to beat Adelaide at Hindmarsh.

+xWhat a game. Yeah Gauci should have used a foot against Cummings, would have been easier to save. Very hard to get a strong hand down that quick and close. He got his hand down but behind foot and it hit his foot and went past the hand. Not his greatest effort.

+xSilly for Farrell to put arms out like that but Isais wasn't even hit where he was grabbing. Yes he was holding his face when contact was slight to the back of the head, but Isaias knows how to play things.

Adelaide's crowd was bigger than Sydney's crowd, seems a little backwards

Farrell is fearless and likes to match it against Irankunda who previously has bamboozled defenders.Max Balard had a great game for CCM and evidently had just been awarded a double degree from Uni of NSW so not only a very good footballer but is very disciplined and organised.

Top game, shows the value of playing in a good pitch last night's pitch was terrible.
Both games will be tight next week, either team from both games can go through there is no clear choice.

Hope we go all out with our talents at the Toulon tournament. It's only 3.5 weeks away.

Fantastic game. As big a reds fan as I am, it’s hard to be too upset with a loss to this Mariners side. If they get over AU in this tie, I’ll be onboard with them for the Championship. AU so good last night and can still win this but Mariners just so professional and still have the edge. Just. Well played all round. And yes, Goodwin is just immense. Hope our boys all back up okay??? That was a gruelling game

I was highly critical of them when I was at the game, but watching the replay, the Reds were much better than I initially thought for much of the game.

Much respect to all the AU fans giving CCM deserved credit. You’ve always been a mature footballing fan base 👏
Adelaide have also been my second team for the past few seasons with all the young attacking talent they’ve been bringing through for our various national teams.

Terrific game between AU and CCM.
Enjoyed AU playing a 4-5-1 (1:4 midfield formation) in BPO, as opposed to most teams playing a flat midfield 4-4-2 in BPO.
A few of the long diagonal passes to Goodwin to launch accelerated attacks were superb. I'm not sure who played them?
CCM's possession game was good.

Re AU, i have always liked them long before the past few seasons, a worthy 2nd club option agreed. That phrase, punching above their weight comes to mind. The football background going way back built sound foundations.

I watched snippets of both games over the weekend and that was my first thought too... The Sydney v City pitch was appalling........ I now understand why you all complain about rugby digging up the pitch before hand and why a combined winter season wouldnt help the Aleague any... crap Ive seen better playing surfaces at State 4 level.... Must say I thought the Adelaide v CCM game was the better spectacle of the two.. I didnt watch either full game but 15 or so minutes of the first half for CCM was entertaining football. Well done. Sadly for them I think Adelaide seemed to have another gear and may run riot over them next match... I liked Lopez from AU and Isaias for that.... CCMS two centre halfs also worked well to keep the Adelaide striker quiet.. Depending on when it is I may actually watch this one in full now (hahahahah seems the "fish where the fish are" might be working).

You should put your prejudices aside for a minute and watch these semis. Both games were excellent entertainment. The return leg at CCM will be good too. Footbal specific pitch with a full house. Will be rocking.

Ill try and watch the final though. It was never the football on the pitch mate, some of it was quite enjoyable, certainly better than NPL that I watch (maybe far too much of)... Just as a neutral there is always something more interesting on TV or to do socially and, outside of maybe Dec/Jan, better football elsewhere to watch overseas as a neutral.

What's worse its the new Sydney football stadium, surely with the amount of money spent on the stadium they could better maintenance on the pitch especially that's multi shared with the rugby codes.

Hard to make grass repair itself in days, in winter, after being hacked up. League is far harsher on grass than football.

MC vs SFC : (1) 1 - (1) 2 CCM vs AU : (2) 2 - (1) 2 As a neutral I wouldn’t mind those results- But wouldn’t want Apl to be rewarded with all NSW GF in Sydney- would make Danny T look competent 🙁 City have been incredibly tough at Aami park all season. 3-1 to City. 2-1 to Mariners.

Don't want the APL to be rewarded either, but my head says they will. Personally I always like to see 1 and 2 in the GF. Then I like to see the premiers win the GF. Then there is no argument about who the 'champions' are. As a neutral, the best GF (on field) would be MC vs AU hands down. Every time they have faced each other this season it's been a fantastic game.
