When it comes to the NSD, we can be pretty sure that the FA will have some quotas in place when it comes to the decision making process. They won't be just picking the best 10-16 proposals overall. They will have their ratio roughly sorted out (eg: 4 from NSW, 2-3 from VIC, 2 from QLD, and so on, or whatever the numbers might be).

Sweet.  Another Closed Shop League with some wanker in an office in Sydney creating designated zones on a map.  That'll work

Will be even better when the 'special kid' finishes bottom every year

How about, if theres 16 good enough applicants, 16 teams it is.

Mum of a 7 year old girl playing football here. She got a picture book about Megan Rapinoe, one of her heroes. When I read it to her, she asked what "gay" meant. I replied "when a family has two mums or two dads". She knows plenty of kids from families like that and accepted the answer. I didn't have to go into gross bedroom details.

Dad to a 11 year old daughter and 13 year old son and both, while not many, have school friends with either two mums or two dads... And that's exactly what they are "Mums" or "Dads"  Labels (past the fundamentals) dont come into it ... They havent asked if they are Gay, or Asian, or Catholic or Labor voters.... nor should they have to....  we just know that Grace has two dads for example.....  both lovely blokes btw, poor choice in football teams, but lovely blokes :)

So, if we then isolate the Victorian shortlist, the challenge faced by the FA presents itself. We have SM and MK ticking all boxes (and then some) and then you have a big  gap and then there are the other clubs at varying levels. We can be 99.9999% sure SM will be successful. So then it's a question of how many more Vic spots are in the FA quota. If it's just one more, then it would be a big call for that club to not be MK. They are just too stable, especially given they own their stadium and have a vary lucrative social club. The FA know first hand just how important stability will be, especially in a closed league. However, MK do have an undesirable element within their fanbase. Difficult to say how large that element is, but it definitely exists. The FA may look at it from the view of, we'll just ban fans as required and as a bonus we'll get some money from fines and still have a stable competitive club in the league. If there are 3+ total spots in the Vic quota, then it's even harder for MK to be denied. The other Vic clubs simply aren't as strong at this point in time.
Then there are the other quotas that the FA would keep private, but you can be certain they would not want too many clubs with the same ethnic background. I think it would be a longshot to see, MK, SU58, Canberra Croatian and Gold Coast Knights all there from the beginning. If there are only 12 clubs to begin with it would be unlikely a third of them would be Cro based.

This would sadden m if true mate... Clubs should be chosen on merit alone, not some sort of eugenics policy ... And YES I mean that I WOUDL NOT want to see 12 "Greek" clubs in this league exclusively as much as many would like to think I would.

I agree that's absolutely how it should be, but we know it won't. I'd be very surprised if we didn't see at least one club miss out and a weaker (for lack or a better word) club get a spot as a single club in one of the states.
They will try to have representation in each of the states. Although I could see TAS and ACT missing out at this stage.

I hope the initial selection IS geographically representative to include both ACT and TAS... but thats it.... let pro/rel sort out the clubs after the first season.... no more protectionism.

16 "best" applicants would mean 7 x from NSW, 7 from VIC, 1 from SA and 1 from QLD mate....

I agree, but we just know that those conversations happen, I mean it wouldn't be recorded in the minutes but the discussions would definitely take place.
Once the final 10-16 have been revealed, I reckon it will be pretty obvious what 'criteria' has been considered and what hasn't. Especially if it's only 10 clubs to begin with and all 6 states are represented.

Yeah mate, you are probably right.... Wish it wasnt so though.... :( I can live with the 2 x SA clubs, 2 x QLD clubs, 1 x TAS, 1 x ACT, 5 x VIC and 5 x NSW split but not the 2 x non-effnik clubs, 2 x Croatian clubs, 1 x North Macedonian, 1 x Maltese, 5 x Italian and 5 x Greek split

Bit of wishful thinking there. I really can't see x5 clubs from Vic. It would be nice if it happened, but I don't think there are x5 Vic clubs that are quite ready.
The questions is, based on that list of 26, how does (1 x ACT, 1 x SA, 1 x TAS, 2 x QLD, 2 x VIC, 3 x NSW) sound? A number of strong clubs would miss out in that scenario.
That is a very real possibility if the FA want representation from every state and also opt for a x10 club league to begin with.
Personally I reckon it will be a x12 club league to begin with. I think if they go for the bare minimum of x10 it will send the wrong message. It will seem like the FA have low confidence in the clubs overall and will come across as being a bit half-arsed. On the flipside, I reckon if they went for full x16 it could be detrimental to some of the 'weaker' clubs and we could see them really struggling to not only be competitive but also with meeting the requirements every year.
I reckon x12 would be a bit of a sweet spot. Enough so that it's unlikely any of the stronger clubs miss out. Also leaves the door open and plenty of room for some of the unsuccessful clubs to work towards promotion in the future. Also, having the same number of clubs as the A League, It could also have the effect of being perceived as being a little more equal with the A-League rather than a tier below the A-League.

If some of the bedwetters on here are concerned about a Croation social clubs links with the Nazi's, you would be pissing your pants after learning about the long list of Nazi war criminals who were not put on trial but were promoted to senior roles in NATO. After learning this surely you wouldn't be hypocrites and support NATO any longer....

https://twitter.com/semper_vincit/status/1645614081926402049

So instead of being put on trial for war crimes, Heusinger became an advisor on military matters to Konrad Adenauer, appointed the first Chancellor of West Germany in 1949. Heusinger was appointed Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, making him the senior military spokesperson for NATO and in 1963 he also became NATO’s chief of staff, serving in that capacity until 1964.

Many other prominent ex-Nazis followed similar paths, in particular serving as Commanders in Chief of Allied Central Forces Europe. Here are just a few examples:

– General Hans Speidel, who participated in the invasions of Poland, France, and the Soviet Union, played a key role in German rearmament and integration into NATO, and in 1957 became Commander-in-Chief of Allied Forces Central Europe.

– Sturmführer  worked with Goebbels in the Nazi Ministry of Propaganda where he was responsible for designing the yellow badge for Jews. After the war, he eventually became an adviser to ex-Nazi Franz Josef Strauss, German Minister of Defence from 1956-62, and was assigned by Strauss to NATO’s “Psychological Warfare Department” which spewed anti-communist propaganda just as Goebbels’ ministry had during the war.

– Nazi Admiral and U-Boat commander Friedrich Guggenberger, whose U-boat sank 17 allied ships, later served as Deputy Chief of Staff in the NATO command Armed Forces North (AFNORTH) 1968-72.

– Johannes Steinhoff, a Luftwaffe fighter pilot, was made Chairman of the NATO Military Committee 1971-74, holding other NATO positions prior to that.

– Johann von Kielmansegg, General Staff officer to the High Command of the Wehrmacht, 1942-44, was NATO’s Commander in Chief of Allied Forces Central Europe, 1967-68.

– Ernst Ferber, a major in the Wehrmacht, was NATO’s Commander in Chief of Allied Forces Central Europe, 1973-75.

– Karl Schnell, First General Staff officer of the LXXVI Panzer Corps, was NATO’s Commander in Chief of Allied Forces Central Europe, 1975-77.

– Franz Joseph Schulze, Chief of the Third Battery of the Flak Storm Regiment 241, was NATO’s Commander in Chief of Allied Forces Central Europe, 1977-79.

– Ferdinand von Senger und Etterline, Lieutenant of the 24th Panzer Division of the German Sixth Army, was NATO’s Commander in Chief of Allied Forces Central Europe, 1979-83.

The article was prompted by new laws in Victoria banning "hateful symbols.  As of this article, its being proposed to add Ustasha symbols to the banned list.

And then we wait to add some others after that.

What of the crucifix-those crusaders in the New World have a lot to answer for.  And the crescent-those Ottomans did sure mess up Europe for a few centuries.

And what of the Romans and the spread-winged eagle with SPQR?

But since this is Victoria, we don't ban the color red, the yellow 5 pointed star and the sickle and hammer.  No hateful symbolism there-just ignore the millions that starved to death.

You can only ban symbols associated with white people. Banning other symbols would be racist. Everyone knows that.

The bottom line is Croatia has been independent for 32 years and the last vestige of old Yugoslavia ceased to exist in 2006..so the fact there are some Cro social clubs in this country that still openly fly the Ustasha-era flag instead of the actual flag of Croatia, frankly, merits scrutiny. To say nothing of the bust of Pavelic..

Its hypocrisy mate, plain and simple... The same people triggered by a backwards bunch of fascists clinging on to what they perceive makes them different than all the other Slavs in the Balkans are happy to have the captain of an "Australian" football team publicly declare thanks and support for the Sheikh of a foreign state notorious for the vilest hate crimes this century. Or Support a Brisbane club owned by an Indonesian family with gross ties to Suharto and the genocide of hundreds of thousands in the 60s.....

All these precious petals dragging this Usase Croatia link up  knew about this for decades and now see it as a threat to their precious Aleague... Do you think anyone of these outspoken "heroes" will ever be directly effected by Za Dom Spremni chants and seig heil salutes or visit King Tom for a cevap????

Play ball I say. Give the clubs clear guidelines of what is and isnt appropriate behaviour, and if they cant control their fans.. Give them a pretend fine and suspended sentence point deductions....

Football is a strange beast. Spectators should have boycotted both the Qatar and Russian World Cups, but we just couldn't do it. The football itself is just too magnetic. We all get drawn in. I've asked myself what it would take for me to not watch a WC and I genuinely don't have an answer. When it comes to the likes of CFG, when your team is doing very well and winning the blinders just go up. That's all it takes. I guarantee if Man City were fighting to avoid relegation the fans would sing a very different tune.

At some point, somebody should start a thread about the NST and Football.

Might be a good read.

better than a toxic cultureless society who think men can 'become women' becuz they 'identify' as a women and no one has the balls to tell these trannies mentally ill

at the same time can compete in women sport like running, swimming, cycling etc and dominate

meanwhile these pedos can groom kids without anyone calling them out....

In the real world where billions of people exist not on brietbart.com, how much do you really think this is actually happening ?

It’s hilarious how brave people are when attacking Christianity and the Catholic Church but not a peep from these same people about the religion that murders homosexuals.
Everyone happily played along in Qatar and continues to support City Group teams, turning a blind eye to the atrocities committed by their owners. Nothing to see here, right?

The other funny thing is it was called out, and folks said it was ‘woke nonsense, live by their rules’ etc etc

32 years is really not a long time. Just because something ceases to exist does not mean the problems that persisted before-hand also ends. Slavery in America officially ended in 1865 but its lasting effects is still a major talking point over there. Just one example..

There's a clear ignorance in this thread which is understandable, the history of the region is complicated. Some points people on here should consider.

1. Croats have longed for an independent state since the fall of the Croatian kingdom in 1102. Following the collapse of the kingdom we had no choice but to form unions with foreign empires. The situation was similar with the Serbs which is why intellectuals from both sides came up with the idea of Yugoslavia. Similar peoples teaming up sort of thing.
2. Both Yugoslavia 1 and 2 were Serb dominated which didn't sit well with Croats obviously.
3. Yugoslavia was a multi-ethnic state which made it unique compared to other European countries that were invaded by the Nazis. You had competing nationalistic groups massacring each other, namely Ustasa (Croats), Partizans (communists) and Chetniks (Serbs). Normal people living in villages had to choose a side. Once one of these groups entered a village that were a different group, they were killed. There wasn't a discussion about which side those people living in that village were on. So in a world where the Ustasa were the sole protectors of Croats at a time like that, it makes sense that there would be support for the Ustasa. Vice versa for the other groups.
4. WW2 symbols and rhetoric made a comeback in the 90's war, again only 32 years ago, which explains why both sides are still so nationalistic. People get caught up into thinking the hardcore nationalists waving Ustasa flags are celebrating the killing of people. It's more about pissing off the other side. Distasteful? Yes, but that's the reality.

There needs to be some consistency. What's the difference between a Croat holding a Pavelic picture, a Partizan holding a Tito picture and a Serb holding a Mihajlovic picture? Nothing right? And yet there's a Mihajlovic statue in front of Serb clubs in Sydney and my favorite, allowing a Chetnik group to march in the Anzac parade. They were also Nazi collaborators. No articles written about that I see.

Anyway I hope this places some context for some people here on the Croatian psyche.

In the real world where billions of people exist not on brietbart.com, how much do you really think this is actually happening ?

Enough that sporting bodies all over the world need to invent new rules to protect women.  Enough that the  ideology is being taught in government schools to very young children. Enough that men in drag are reading books about men in drag to very young school children in government councils and State parliaments.

I imagine all this crap might have a bit to do w/why some Cro-Aussies(Eric Bana prob most notably) went the other way and uber-assimilated to the nth-degree, inc. having no interest whatsoever in ⚽️.

So what would you personally do about it, bc physically stopping it yourself isn’t an option that’d end well for you💡
