Gay people exist, mate. Gay people exist in the football community. If it wasn't for gay people, women's football would barely exist. Gay people are players at all levels; gay people are parents of kids playing; gay people help the clubs run. Football should celebrate the contributions of gay people - as players, organisers, and parents - whether or not you're too embarrassed to tell your own kids the truth.

Dolores, 100% agree with your take in bold.... with one minor caveat that football should celebrate the contributions of ALL people.

I think the argument from the more conservative among us (and one I sort of agree with to be honest) is why the need for children with young developing minds, having to be forced to grasp such complex ideas as human sexuality?...... I mean we teach our kids (or at least I hope we do) that a good person is NOT defined by gender, race, religion, occupation, wealth or any one of the other "differences" of the past... why should sexual proclivity be the sword we all die on? Its fairly reasonable for a parent to NOT want to discuss sex in ANY WAY with a child let alone what total strangers chose to do in the bedroom to achieve orgasm....

The fundamental bs with the criticism is that when people bring up this "efnik" bs, they're trying to level a criticism at the club that they're somehow not in the business of contributing to football and doing the basic work of just letting people play the game, then when they try to bolster their argument, they talk about anything but football.

yep here here, for me I'm SICK of sport being taken advantage of for politcal platforms.
Keep these topics out of sport, its a outlet getting away from the day to day life, sport is our outlet to let go, be it playing, watching attending. Like people enjoy going to the pub or catching up to get away from it all.
OK MK have a history connected to a terrible past, same applies with so many topics brought forward today, we got to move and look ahead.
The club has families born in recent times, did they look up the history, do they have anything to do with the past - they the mums and dads and snr players just want to play FOOTBALL.

Mum of a 7 year old girl playing football here. She got a picture book about Megan Rapinoe, one of her heroes. When I read it to her, she asked what "gay" meant. I replied "when a family has two mums or two dads". She knows plenty of kids from families like that and accepted the answer. I didn't have to go into gross bedroom details.

and thats all that needs to occur, plain and simple....

Anyways back to MK NSD and football.

When it comes to the NSD, we can be pretty sure that the FA will have some quotas in place when it comes to the decision making process. They won't be just picking the best 10-16 proposals overall. They will have their ratio roughly sorted out (eg: 4 from NSW, 2-3 from VIC, 2 from QLD, and so on, or whatever the numbers might be). So, if we then isolate the Victorian shortlist, the challenge faced by the FA presents itself. We have SM and MK ticking all boxes (and then some) and then you have a big  gap and then there are the other clubs at varying levels. We can be 99.9999% sure SM will be successful. So then it's a question of how many more Vic spots are in the FA quota. If it's just one more, then it would be a big call for that club to not be MK. They are just too stable, especially given they own their stadium and have a vary lucrative social club. The FA know first hand just how important stability will be, especially in a closed league. However, MK do have an undesirable element within their fanbase. Difficult to say how large that element is, but it definitely exists. The FA may look at it from the view of, we'll just ban fans as required and as a bonus we'll get some money from fines and still have a stable competitive club in the league. If there are 3+ total spots in the Vic quota, then it's even harder for MK to be denied. The other Vic clubs simply aren't as strong at this point in time.
Then there are the other quotas that the FA would keep private, but you can be certain they would not want too many clubs with the same ethnic background. I think it would be a longshot to see, MK, SU58, Canberra Croatian and Gold Coast Knights all there from the beginning. If there are only 12 clubs to begin with it would be unlikely a third of them would be Cro based. 

Kids don't need to concern themselves with the vagaries of adult relationships.  They're kids.  And anyway its not for others to be foisting that discussion onto other people and their kids.  That's for the parents of those kids.  For no-one else.

Football should celebrate football, and the football achievements of the people involved if it wants  Not their politics.

As for the Melbourne Knights, its become relevant to football because there are now proposed laws to ban the swastika, and possibly ustasha symbolism.  If that happens than the FA needs to comply with the laws.
