face it, Suarez was simply not a good enough player to defend off the line. Any player worth his salt would have been able to leap into the air to head that ball back out. Fucile tried to do exactly that. Suarez only resorted to cheating because he knew he was not a good enough player to keep the ball out legally.

have you been watching the tournament? hes not exactly played bad.. more likely hes a relatively small player not known for his heading and didnt want to risk his entire nations hopes of a world cup on his heading ability from a close-range attempt at goal. yes its cheating and hell been banned for a while which he would have known he was going to cop as punishment. alot more honour in what he did compared to henry but cheating all the same.

I am not saying he is not a good striker of the ball, I am not saying that he is not a good runner or good at getting in the right position. And yes I have been watching the tournament, and I stand by what I said. Suarez is not a good enough defender on the line, so he cheats.

The same as attacking players who dive simply because they are not good enough to skin the defender or control the ball properly. Same as defenders who hack or come in late because they are not good enough to intercept the ball or read the play to get in the right position.

Cheating is always what players resort to when another player or team is simply better.

In this case the Ghana team were able to put good shots on goal and the Uraguay team were not good enough to clear the ball each time. The final play saw that Fucile tried to legally head the ball out but was not good enough and missed. Suarez knew he was inadequate so he cheated. End of story.

Suarez is an honest cheat and I've got no problem with that. Deception is the true evil.

what i really meant is that professional fouls are part of the game, this was just a very big one and as a ghana fan i am still angry that suarez 'cheated'

I haven't seen that, and it's almost equal to what the Uruguayan player did (A bigger occasion rather than a home and away match). I'm sure most AFL fans agree that is a cowardly and disgraceful act (Fletcher). I wouldn't call Fletcher a low economic sewer rat, maybe just a tall, skinny cheating coward.

I'm not trying to make this about a code vs code thing. I hate the battle of the codes and think every sport should be accepted.

I'm just disgusted that cheating is celebrated and accepted by football supporters in such a way across the world.

No, I didn't enjoy seeing him cry after the handball.

I expected him to be a 'little' dignified and reserved after committing such a cowardly and shameful act, but it's self-evident his conscience is clean and he sees such cheating as the norm. This is nothing short of a disgrace in my book. You and many, many, many other people it seems sees it differently.

I would rather Australia lose than to have them win in such a way.

Seeing the Uruguayan player celebrate after the Ghana player missed made me want to strangle him. Although, I don't expect a player who holds cheating as a virtue to have a shred of dignity in him, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised at his conduct.

The guy is a common sewer rat and if this were a perfect world, he would be booed in every game he appears in for the next decade. It's self-evident that he won't though, seeing how most see cheating as a virtue in football.

You know, I've always felt a tad sorry for Uruguay for losing to Australia in 2005, seeing their heartbroken faces after the game, this has all changed in one moment.

You two do understand that 'professional foul' is just a euphemism for cheating right?

Deliberately breaking the rules of a game is cheating therefore Suarez is a cheat. Simple as that.

I think the majority of fouls committed during games are deliberate, but not all the players who foul are labelled cheats. I just don't think it is a huge leap from what he did to someone who takes an opposition player down when they are threatening a counter attack, so that his teammates can get back in time to defend. I would also call that a professional foul. There are rules in place for the referee to enforce in these instances, then everyone moves on and the game continues.

Cheating I generally think is when someone deceives or attempts to deceive the referee, eg simulation.

What are you on about?

Cheating, at base level, is simply deliberately breaking the rules of a game. Deliberately hacking someone down to break up play, deliberately handling on the line to prevent a goal and deliberate simulation are all serious forms of cheating hence why they all draw further sanctions than just free kicks. Anyone who willfully engages in any of that crap really can't complain when they're called a cheat.

The only difference with simulation is that it's lying as well as cheating.

He should get more than just a two match suspension. You could see him rejoicing as the penalty was missed. Makes me sick.

For all our talk of a superior game, this world cup has been full of cheating and too many fans simply call it drama. That you can find something beautiful in something like that makes me embarrassed to call myself a football fan.

im not appalled that it happened because it WASNT A FREE KICK IN THE FIRST PLACE. ghana dove to get that free kick (cheating). i dislike both teams so i dont really care that ghana is out. what i am happy about is uruguay is facing netherlands with only 1 of their 2 great strikers. so its working out for me o:)

suarez is a good player but daaaaaaaaaaaaaaamnnnnnnnnnnn.

fifa is not going to let this one go by. they are going to fine him and ban him for a certain amount of time (can that be done in situations like this?). he's going to miss the world cup final that's if uruguay make it any further if thats the case...

the laws of the game played out the way it is but unfortunately for ghana it cost them a chance to the semi-finals.

he will no doubt be a national hero for uruguay but seriously seeing him crying then cheering when ghana missed the penalty.
