Scoll wrote: Nope, not accurate at all. Comparing an extreme action (terrorism, in case you're confused) with constant continued behaviour by a homogeneous group of people (white Australia) doesn't fly. You are dull as dishwater if you think that this girl being representative of racism in Australia is people saying literally all white Australians are racist. She is representitive of what racism looks like, that is not the same thing as saying racism is what white Australia looks like (though, that's a separate matter entirely and I'm inclined to suggest that we are on the weight of it.)
White people are not a homogenous group of people. It's comparable because the reactions are similar in that they've both been used to stereotype by people like you who are making scenarios up that don't actually exist. Scoll wrote: Don't be ridiculous. No-one is booing Hodge because of his skin colour*, there is no racist action to implicitly support. This really isn't a hard concept. It's not about booing, it's about booing a victim of racist behaviour.
This is exactly the response I expected. Adam Goodes kicks a goal in an away game and celebrates in front of the away fans and gets booed. He would have been booed if he celebrated at the Carlton fans whether he did an aboriginal war dance or not. People boo Hodge because he's a dickhead and because he's a good player. The PC brigade seem to ignore this when they consider Goodes who is a fantastic player in favour of manufacturing racism because of the colour of his skin. Scoll wrote: Goodes is being singled out because he is the only one making a strong stand and that scares conservative white people. They've made him a special case with their response all by themselves, they don't get to complain about it (let alone use it as an excuse to validate their behaviour.)
Boo someone -> that's fine! Boo someone -> booing takes on a racial narrative -> continue booing -> That's dumb and you're dumb. Stop being dumb.
Goodes is being singled out because he makes everything about Adam Goodes and he is a dickhead. The more he's a sook, the more people boo him. People like you are over-playing the racist element of this argument. I bet if you asked the West Coast Eagles fans that booed on the weekend whether they did it because they think he's a shit bloke or whether they did it because he stands up against white oppression or whatever bullshit you want to make up that at least 90% would say they hate him as a person and as a footballer. It constantly amuses me how because he's indigenous he seems to get special treatment. I wonder how poor Paul Gallen feels having been targeted by all of QLD. Oh wait, he's white, no one gives a fuck about his feelings. Honestly I hope every aboriginal player does a war dance celebration. I hope they celebrate their culture. I just hope they accept that in a hostile environment like professional sport they are going to cop some flak, just like everyone else. Back to the footy now. I haven't rated the Tigers a threat all year, but last night definitely changed my mind. I think plenty of Collingwood fans need to calm down. As bad as a loss today looks on paper ( I didn't see the game) the future still looks really bright for them.

Really looking like an improved side.

Ports season will be over if they don't beat the bulldogs saturday. Heading over for a fly in fly out from adelaide
must admit really have enjoyed the way the bulldogs have played they have been the most exciting team this year.
Good for them.

Good for them. We're a slim chance as is anyway Will just save us the pain instead of having Hawks or Freo beat us

Shame we lost Betts/Garlett, but it's unlikely we would come bottom with them. Betts is a bigger loss than people thought (hindsight), shown this season with the crows he can still turn a game when he feels like it and one of the better recruitments of the season

It will really come down to how much Carlton will tank as we'll simply keep trying until the end. It would be nice to pick up Schache given our lack of forwards this year but more importantly with his family connection to the club. I'd rather not have Weitering given his grub of an agent. So hopefully for next season: Dixon, Schache, McStay, Jono Freeman & Close would be a good group to build around. :d

Hird gone, Needed to happen I felt for the club to move forward. Also it is a results driven game and results as of late well the last 10 weeks have been far from acceptable.
HOWEVER
resigned I don't think is what happened.
This bloke fought above and beyond - loves his club loves his players wants to be there for them. I don't think this close to the wada verdict he would walk away.

Hirdy got pushed . He is and will be a essendon legend. But the club needs to clean up from the board down. The strain has clearly affected him and everyone associated with him. I hope the media can leave him and his family alone now

for afl centric movies: after Blinder flopped in 2013, we have finally made a great Australian movie with AFL in the backdrop called 'Holding the Man'
Its going to make a few people unhappy (like Brokeback Mountain did to the cowboy community) but its the movie Australian Rules Football needed
