ASADA investigation and Dank scandal starting to cut deep into Essendon's attendances and ratings.
rom Media Week Twitter:
"Fri TV #AFL Total FTA 925k: Seven 745k (Mel 622k Ade 122k) 7mate 180k (Syd 28k Bri 39k Per 114k) #AFLCatsBombers"
Fox ratings still to come - should push it out past 1.2 million.

I think it's already down to Geelong, Sydney and Hawthorn. The pies look like they can't quiet go with the big teams, Essendon have too much shit to deal with, and the Blues aren't ready this year. If West Coast get everyone back and hit form they could be pretty dangerous in the finals. Cats favourites for sure.

This is what Geelong is doing over and over and over for the entire 2 hours:

If you freeze it on 8 seconds, you see that it's five Geelong players versus four Essendon players, and within a metre of the footy it's 3 vs 2 (with Goddard flat on his back) - and they repeat that all over the ground, over and over.
Within the space of 2 seconds, Essendon player dispossessed, Goddard flattened, Geelong with the clean take away.

Fox ratings still to come - should push it out past 1.2 million. Paytv ratings - Fri STV #AFL #AFLCatsBombers 309k Gotta be happy with that rating and 7.25% free to air viewers from the Sydney and Brisbane markets, Sydney nearly cracked that 30k mark, should tonight you would think. Good to see Port Adelaide get 40k members this week and then 25k turn up on a beautiful day in Adelaide with the team in the top 3 on the table. Wonder what the other 37% of members where doing? But it was the highest drawing crowd for all 3 matches played today to date. Brisbane got a crowd of 17,615 and Western Bulldogs 23,690 despite playing another Melbourne team. Both these teams are crap so their crowds will only go one way. Edited by justafan: 11/5/2013 07:35:21 PM

Edited by Mister Football: 11/5/2013 03:57:05 PM Spot on. Every team is trying to do it, but Geelong just do it better. If you can get an extra man to every contest, you will win nearly every time.

Lol at GWS claiming to have 12k members. Fuking ridiculous. So sick of this blatantly dishonest attitude from this club and others in the AFL.

There was almost a crowd at the GWS Giants game
Given that this is a game of afl, should the almost crowd get 1 point for missing?

I still think Hawthorn are clearly a better side on paper but they are incredibly hot and cold plus Geelong have the wood on them. Sydney don't look as strong as last season, West Coast are struggling, Collingwood lack hunger at the moment but I wouldn't be surprised to see them pick up in the second half of the season once Ball and Beams are back at peak fitness and form.

Melbourne is set to lose more than $1million this year Gilbert Gardiner From: Herald Sun May 12, 2013 12:58PM MELBOURNE is bracing for a $1-1.5m loss this year as the embattled club counts the cost of legal fees, fines and expenses. But interim chief executive Peter Jackson, who took up the role on May 1, is confident the club can get back on track as long as it gets its football department right. The former Essendon administrator foreshadowed changes within Melbourne's footy ranks. And, in a recorded interview aired on Channel Nine this morning, Jackson fell short of guaranteeing Demons coach Mark Neeld’s future beyond 2014. “I think the footy structure isn’t structured the best way, as far as industry standard goes,” Jackson told the club’s website. “I think you’ve got to get football people controlling and running footy departments. So I think they’re the two obvious things we’re going to have to make some changes around.” The club balance sheet has suffered as a result of low attendances, legal fees and fines stemming from the AFL's tanking investigation. Jackson said Melbourne’s “on field horrors”, disastrous losses to Geelong (186 points) and Essendon (148 points) over the past 20 months, had taken their toll. “At the moment, everyone looks resilient. I wonder deep down whether they are? “My perception at the moment, internally, is that it’s a fairly inexperienced club, if you look through the playing list, the coaches and the staff. “I do know that we are looking at an operating loss of $1 million. If crowds do continue to decline, then the consequences of that might be a little bit north of that,” he said. An undermanned Melbourne faces a tough task today against Gold Coast at the MCG. The Demons go into the match missing several key players including co-captains Jack Grimes and Jack Trengove, key forward Mitch Clark and ruckman Mark Jamar. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/afl/teams/melbourne-is-set-to-lose-more-than-1million-this-year/story-e6frf9mf-1226640474987

So what. Even with two extremely poor attendances (on Mothers Day), over 230,000 have shown up to 8 games for an average of 28,845 (with Carlton vs St Kilda still to come tomorrow).
