The core arguments on both sides are essentially the same.
In defence: There was no intent. They were just doing what they were expected to do. They were just unlucky it went wrong.
Against them: The end result was a kick in the face. It was dangerous, no matter the intent. The guy is a grub. It must have been intentional.
Of course each of those points is contentious but just reading people's comments on this issue gave me flashbacks of that thread last season.

The core arguments may be similar but they are quite different scenarios as football is game where the ball is on the deck and kicking is essential in regards to the Berisha the ball was in open space both players went hard and a player got hit in the face, yes it was clumsy but as the nature of the sport it does happen and is somewhat expected to happen. Whereas Reynolds was being tackled where no kicking should take place, it's not like the defender put his head in the wrong place and copped a stray boot, the defenders had complete control of the tackle and Reynolds choose to kick out and made contact with an opponents face. People may say oh but the attacker kicks out all the time to get a fast play the ball/penalty but its not a core aspect of the game. We as a game had an opportunity to throw the book at him and get this shit out of the game, so hopefully next time if a player is in his position they'll think before they act, but no we gave him a slap on the wrist. So next time when we see an incident like this what do we say to the poor sod who loses an eye?

Not really, can't blame the kid given the circumstances, the parra winger is as much to blame. Still the whole quick tap off a 40/20 is one of the stupidest rules the NRL has ever come up with

Sandow kicked a 40/20 with 2 minutes to go. Parra rushed downfield to take the quick tap, but the ball boy threw the ball to the winger instead of putting it on the sideline, and the ref made the right decision and called it back. Wouldn't be an issue if the rule wasn't so stupid and it was a scrum like every other restart.
Also no one is pointing out that Parra still had a full set on their line and fucked it on the second tackle

This. The ball boy didn't lose Parra the game, they lost it themselves when they got taken over the sideline on the 3rd tackle.

Also last night proved the shoulder charge is definitely still legal, so long as you have the ball.

So Reynolds penalised and suspended for kicking out at Thaiday. Nu'uausala kicks out at Adam Blair and no penalty nothing.

I don't understand how these bans can be "backdated" so that all they have to sit is like 3-4 weeks. Wtf? -PB

Wtf?
-PB It is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. And how can the NRL be happy with that? And why does Shandor Earl or what ever his name is get banned for years and everyone else gets 4 weeks.

Absolute fucking joke. If I was Reni Maitua I'd be mighty pissed right about now. He, rightfully, serves a two year suspension and then these cu*ts get offered 3 fucking games.

The thing is...
AFL and (and to a lesser extent) NRL are really sports that are played in Australia
It doesnt matter if we juice them up, its just entertainment isnt it?
The same thing applies to American Football, its not like they are playing an olympic sport
Speaking of the Olympics and drugs, all short sprint (not the marathon) athletic track and field are drug enhanced, why else would Marion Jones (US Athlete) win the hundred metres by 50 metres? :-k
