The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain
Its either the most racist book of all time, or the most anti-racist book of all time
I cant work out what it is? :-k
Heres Louis CK with what he thinks of the book and comparing it to the adventures of Tom Sawyer ->

StarTed part 2 and cant wait to see how it all unfolds. Strap yourself in, part 2 is a roller-coaster ride! Holly fuck yeah! The rains of castlemere! So messed up right now, I cant sleep. I know there's so much more to come 150 pages in out of 554. Where were these books when I had time to read all night! Less than 100 pages to go in this novel now. So much fucking wow!!!! it's driving me nuts. I honestly have no idea where this is going and I'm loving every minute of it! where have these novels been all my life! also checkout the Axis or Awesome Rage of thrones Youtube clip, it's hilarious, no spoilers either. Edited by Rocknerd: 7/3/2014 04:11:03 PM I didn't think the ending could get any better but it did! I really feel that this is the greatest the tory telling can get. Now starting Feast for Crows and it appears t be focusing on yet a whole new angle. can't wait to see where this next 780 odd pages go! So far ASOS was my favourite book ever written. AFFC and ADWD are both a bit slower but they are good nonetheless. as Fantasy goes you're not wrong, but with so much action, betrayal and in depth story it's hard not to. This book left me staring off into space for hours at a time trying to digest it and left me sleepless more than once. I fear that I will judge all following books by this one and be disappointed. I just hope against hope that I can convince myself that it is all one really big book and thusly all apart of the same story, just mere chapters in the end. Edited by Rocknerd: 11/3/2014 04:31:59 PM finished a Feast of Crows and now reading book 1 of a Dance with Dragons. WOW! so much that I didn't expect, I'm glad I didn't watch the series first as they cut so much and bring in other pieces of information that you don't get until much later. Just fantastic writing. I'm going to need the 12 month break for the release of the next book. I should be finished by the end of May.

Completed all 7 books now. I'm never a fan boy to be pacing the floor waiting on a book, but here I am. I'm unsure on how GRRM can wrap this whole saga up in 2 more books, and where the hell are they! seriously I am gagging for them!
Started reading Lee Childs Killing Floor, the first of the Jack Reacher series. very good style, 100 pages in and very exciting. Also reading Dougie Brimson Everywhere we go. pretty interesting, personal insight into football and Hooliganism.

Man, I've been doing SFA reading outside of Uni/Work stuff!
I'm still working my way through The Book Thief. I'm 75% done, according to my book reader. I love it, I just don't get the time to invest into it! Pretty much the only time I've been reading is the hour I get to sit down when donating plasma every fortnight
My list of to-read books is building up, too! I think I need to go out of my way to invest at least half an hour each day to read.

technically there's only 5 books ;) Don't know why they split book 3 and 5 into 2 parts? Probably for the Americans...like how they had to change words and phrases in Harry Potter for them
I'm about halfway through "The Other Wind" which is the 6th and final book of Earthsea. I read the original trilogy over 20 years ago and revisited it this year. Then I found out there were 2 more books after the 4th ("and final" ) book that came out in the early 90s. So I've caught up.
Then FINALLY I'm going to tackle The Mistborn Trilogy. Has been on my shelf for over a year

Brett Easton Ellis is a fantastic writer. I've read AP, less than zero and my personal favourite The Rules of Attraction (Also a major motion Picture staring Dawson's Creeks James Van Derbeek (who is fantastic as Sean Bateman)) He shows the dark an seedy work of which the ultra wealthy live and world that is socially devoid of morals.
American Psycho though, a friend of mine feels that it is not real though, just the deranged thoughts of Patrick Bateman. which is possible. The fact that many times throughout the story things change and only PB seems to realize that they have.

FINALLY invested the time to sit down and finish The Book Thief. Absolutely loved it! I understand there were parts of the movie that were setup differently etc - but for the most part I genuinely believe the movie did the book justice.
Will now begin reading George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four, solely because it is in our bookshelf, I haven't read it before, and I know it's a big deal of a book.

Was reading 1984 the other day, surprising how poorly written it was. Very influential though.

Have any of you guys read the novellas by George RR Martin? If so is there way to buy them separate to those compilation books with a bunch of other stories from other authors?

Even for school in English when we had an assignment on a book I never got past half way  I just counted my " to read" pile, and it currently sits at 16, And it keeps growing, I buy books knowing that I probably wont read it in the next 12 months. And I have some really interesting ones to

I usually have 3 or 4 books going at a time Just to keep up with my reading. Alternatively read Graphic novels, you can always just look at the pictures if you CBF reading. My current reading: Song for Susannah- Stephen King The Stand Stephen King Every where we go- Dougie Brison Earth 1 Superman graphic novel Walking dead trade Paperback 5 Batman- Frank Miller (story arc used to create Batman Begins) Flow my tears, the policeman said- Philip K. Dick Books finished in the past week Superman Red Son Graphic Novel Fever Pitch- Nick Hornby (3rd reading) Juliet Naked- Nick Hornby

Probably the worst thing to do is sit down and try and read for too long, instead of refreshing FFT late a night just go to bed like 30 minutes earlier and just read a chapter or so. I always found that Matthew Reilly always kept me interested even if his stuff isn't the highest quality

Yeah, read a chapter a night before bed, read on the train, or read during your lunch break etc.
I've done all of the above in my life, but now all I can really do is read during my lunch hour. And sometimes I get annoyed when I go out socialising at lunch because it means I don't get to read my book that day
When I was a kid, I used to get up early to read as I was having breakfast before going to school. That's how I read most of LOTR iirc.
Its hard to find time to sit down and do nothing but read. But I find doing it whilst eating, or travelling on the train is the best time to read.

His stuff is basic and outrageously ridiculous at times but it's pretty refreshing to pick up one of his books every now and then and just be entertained.

At the moment I'm reading command authority . Far out the similarities in the book to the Russian Ukraine situation is eerie . At the same time I'm trying to get into Nelsons mandalas autobiography

His Scarecrow series is what really got me back into reading.

A quick wiki search says he's releasing two new books this year, both are listed as stand alone projects though which is a shame. Scarecrow is his best series imo but I think the Jack West story still has plenty of room for more installments.

I won't lie, was a bit disappointed with Scarecrow: The Army of Thieves, but it looks like there's going to be a sequel to that given the way that finished. I haven't actually read his latest one yet The Tournement. I'll definitely pick it up soon. Apparently he's got another stand alone book released this yer called Troll Mountain. No idea what that's about. I think my favourite 'stand alone' book of his is Temple. Really enjoyed that. I think I've re-read that more times than the entire Scarecrow and Jack West series. I'm not really into his sci-fi stuff, but I can read it and still enjoy it.

I was hoping he would go all way down from 7 Ancient Wonders to 1 Something Something. I agree Temple was so enthralling! The Tournament was a pretty good read, I enjoyed it. It had a real different sort of action to it than his other have.

Anyone read any H.P Lovecraft? what are your thoughts, a mate of mine tells me he's awesome and the Cathulu Mythos is awesome (those that believe will die quickly, those who do not will die slowly and painfully) thought I'd see if he has any traction within these walls.
