I'm going to have a random rant about the Club Championship being used to determine who gets relegated by FNSW.
I was under the allusion that when Han Berger released the Football Development plan a few years ago, that the emphasis on youth football was going to move from being 'results' orientated to 'development' orientated.
Realistically, any of Bankstown, South Coast, Parramatta, Rockdale or APIA could finish on the bottom this season. With only 6 weeks left to go in the season, all these clubs will now be placing immense pressure on their youth teams to start "grinding out" results. The emphasis has shifted back from developing youth, to getting results to ensure the club isn't relegated.
Isn't the point of youth football meant to be to develop potential players for the first team with a medium to long term view? Why do we have this win at all costs mentality jeoprodising the development of our youth players?
Frankly it is not a fair system. FNSW is not towing the line of the new FFA mandate. No other league in the world operates this ridiculous system.

Under 18's and Under 20's are 'youth teams'. The role of any youth team is to develop future players for the club. The methodology of such development is entirely up to the discretion and financial capacity of each club. For instace, some clubs appoint a director of football to instruct all youth team coaches to develop their players with a certain medium-long term philosophy in mind, others just look for players that will finish as high up on the ladder as possible with no development in mind. The Club Championship is rewarding those latter clubs. Now all kinds of 'development' instruction, which is the directive from above from FFA technical director Han Berger, will be thrown out the window as these young kids now have to get a result at all costs. That is what I have an issue with.

fair enough, but dont you think at age 18 they are man enough to step up to the plate..??? and should they not already be of sufficient quality to be able to perform.....
developement of players really needs to be done prior to 18, i agree we need to continue to develope but there has to be a balance....

Youth players are going to be developed when the best players are picked on merits and not the ones that can afford to pay the fees in order to prompt the club finances, $2000-$3500 per season for 13-18yo and $700-1000 for 20yo, how many good kids give up or are lost to other codes because they can not afford to pay the fees? How many times have I heard about the kids that pay more than just the fees to play in the premier league?
FNSW have other programs where kids do not even compete on week to week bases only train and guess what it is not for free.
I believe best way to develop players is to include U13 up to first grade in Club Championship point system and have relegation system where last team actually gets relegated.
Increase Premier League team numbers and include other regions in the comp.
We have State Titles this week, so what happens to other kids outside Sydney W/Gong area that are really good, unless they are prepared to travel like that Victorian kid 1600km a week, nothing! We have lots of good players but only a few make it.

Macarthur, Penrith etc.

Football is a poor man sport! HaHaHaHa
So we all have to agree that everything points out to money and FNSW fees, so in the process we loose kids because of it.
As far as parents always finding money for good kids, well I have seen some kids in the district that are good enough for Prem- League and spoke with the father who has more than one boy and a girl who is also playing so who is going to miss out ?
Lucky they are still playing district football, considering coaching is not the best at this level will they be playing at the age of 18?
Football is the most participated girls and boys sport in this country at the youth level and than massive drop out at later teens, this was the case for years, now we have massive threat with two AFL teams in Sydney, code that does not charge much its players due to TV deals, NRL feels threatened so they are going to invest in their programs, our fees are massive park football up to $600.00 and yes some Premier Clubs do charge up to $3500.00. We do produce great players read the article from FNSW about the camp for U19 with Alex Tobin all Sydney boys from Premier League Clubs, in whole honesty where would this boys be if they did not pay their Club fees, Coerver fees, Westfield School fees, extra coaching fees, going overseas trailing expenses…. Get the idea they have one thing in common FEES! How many do we loose that can not afford THE FEES?

Big turnout for the game not more than 80 people there funny
Apia where terrible
Under 15 park team could of defeated them
Rockdale completely dominated in the first half The second half became boring to watch the more the second half went on the more Rockdale where happy to defend there lead 2 nil and only scored the 3rd in the last five minutes
Raciti is not a coach He might of done wonders last years with 12 games underfeated but Apia to me looked at the beggining of the year looked like a semi final team on todays display the looked un interested
Parisi Younis Rizzo James Bynes Da appuzzi lots of experience there
Raciti spend some money on a coach sack your self buddy as Apia where terrible
Pity Rockdale stopped playing in 2nd half as any other team would of scored half a dozen goals today
Funny at the big crowd at Lambert Park lol

Mate i actaully agree with you about the crowd. it was disgraceful. and they had no excuses. fine day, no other games on to clash. was hoping to see the much hyped 3 member APIA ultras! we didnt stop playing second half, its always easy to say a team should of gone with it and scored more. apia are a club with real issues at present because they have big names on paper, but are not producing. they can always turn it around, as any team can given how congested the ladder is becoming. anyway, great winf or us, keeps our final hopes alive. we have manly at home this week. they'll be on a high after the cup final and theyve improved in the league since the start of the year. anyway, if we can snatch the 3 points, were definitely in the mix for finals football. good to see jason get on the scoresheet too.
what were you doing at this game? or did someone tell you about the game?

MODERATOR KICK OUT THIS CONFUSED BOX ............. OR CONFUSED SPEAKING BULGARIAN Im speaking English champion. Maybe given your limited intellect that's beyond comprehension. Anyway, I suppose when you're 13 (or as might be the case much older with a similar level of intelligence), you feel good coming onto football forums and hijacking meaningful threads with your idiotic ramblings and insults towards others. I can't say i've done it myself, but if it makes you feel good about yourself, you go for it champ, youre something special. It's something hey to come on here with simplistic political ramblings and harsh words. Where would we be without keyboard warriors such as yourself hey? Anyway, enjoy your next Olympic game as you mingle with the thousands of general supporters and hundreds of fellow Ultras. Hopefully you're allowed to go to the game to get you away from the computer and all of these nasty football fans who couldnt care less for what you have to say. for the football fans out there, does anyone know when the remaining washed out fixtures are being played?
