We struggle without broich in the final 3rd. I was a bit disappointing in lustica against ccm om friday and well miller was his usual shit self. ricky might provide somethin, he defiantly lifted the team when he came on. He has seem to regain his pace again. But I can see now we defiantly need another creative outlet. Also Nico really is not showing why he deserves a contract.

nickname for solazano. Against the CCM on friday he was very quiet was sub off at the 60 minute for Ricky who really changed the game. Hopefully he becomes better when the season starts, otherwise i really can't see him in the team for much longer, waste cap space and international spot on him when our younger players are better. I would assume he will miss out on the champion league spot.

Starting to think Henrique needs to be in our starting 11, he's been very good recently.

Wouldn't mind seeing that Houssine Kharja bloke that was rumoured last week.

Agree with you on that. He is far more effective as a super sub. At the start of a game he is far to easily out muscle. Coming on in the second half allows him to run at tired defenders were he can do the most damage.

So seriously... Anybody heard anything about potential incomings? We still haven't really touched the Bes and Franjic money. Slight bump for Bratts and small bit on Kurtishi (cap raise probably almost covers him).

An RB, ST and midfield cover/flair would be nice.

Brattan and Petratos would've gotten a fair bump up on their contracts. Remember that Brattan's last contract was when he wasn't even a starting player to a vital cog now, Petratos would've been on next to nothing last season.

I know that Reuben Way (Olympic FC) and Matt Thurtell (Strikers) have trialled and been invited to trial again now their seasons over. It's hard not seeing us picking up one of them.

I think we're fine at Right back and in midfield.

Midfield: We have Bratts, McKay, Miller / Lambadaridis, Clut, Lustica, Litfin - Plus Broich might spend some time in the middle going by pre season.

Brattan got an upgrade at the beginning of last season. So he would of got a bump buts its not as big as you think. Actually very frustrated with our transfer market (non-existent really) when you've lost franjic and berisha you probably need to boost it more then you think just to be safe. Remember when we brought in Doe and Takahashi (stupidest thing we have ever done) I don't want a repeat. We NEED a quality player and we need him fast ffs... and I feel we're not going to get it.

Berisha i think has been replaced by Kurtishi and Solorzano. Franjic is a massive loss, and the area that needs to be replaced. In saying that, he predominantly played in midfield last season so the replacement for him is a tough one, do you replace a RB or a midfielder?

Our foreign quota is used up? Kurtishi, Henrique, Broiche, Miller, and Solo. So any new signings will have to be Australian overseas, or local talent.

I think Mulvey is happy to go in house if needs be. He is a strong believer in bringing players through the ranks.

I don't care about getting a overseas player we just need to bring in a player that can compete with the starting 11.

Henrique, Thomas and Liam are all Aussie as far as the A-League is concerned at some point this season. Think Henrique and Thomas are from the start.

And definitely short up front still. Hopefully we can get a foreign (preferably Asian spot eligible or Australian) striker with a view to the ACL.

How do you know Liam, Thomas and Ricky are Aus Citiziens? I remember we were talking about Ricky being Australian two years ago. Wouldn't that create a problem that we have an Australian in the Marquee position?

Brattan signed a new contract about 3 weeks ago following the interest from Brighton and I've heard it's quite a significant upgrade. Similar scenario with Petratos, the club felt obliged to offer him decent coin as he rejected the interest from Russia to continue his development with the club. I agree we need another quality player, ideally in the final third. Solorzano will be lucky to score a single goal this season and the new Albanian is still an unknown quantity. Fingers crossed he turns out to be brilliant, however that leaves Ricky, Broich and Dimi as the only proven attacking players in the squad. I'm still confident we will see a new signing or two in the coming weeks.

It wouldn't matter what nationality Thomas is. You can have 2 marquees and only ONE has to be an aussie(Mckay). The other can be aussie/foreign/martian/whatever.

Yeboah coming home would be sick, and have been secretly hoping for Ruka for a while.

Unfortunately I think MVFC closing in on a 'left sided attacker' could be code for Ruka. Apparently their salary cap is a lot higher than everybody else's.

I would like any of the three, but I don't see any of them happening unfortunately.

In my opinion ,the areas that are in need of improvement are:
1. A strong defensive midfielder.Against teams like WSW we can struggle with their size and strength.
2.A striker to get through tight defences now that Berisha has gone.None of the existing strikers have the ability of Berisha to change tight games.Will we still be able to win close games without Berisha?
3.Backup for Broich.We have many neat ball players in midfield,but none to match the flair of Broich.If he gets injured it will be tough.
4.we won last year despite a height disadvantage.This year most teams have strengthened in attack.So I expect us to be more vulnerable to headers.
5.Hopefully the wingbacks will step up.But Steff is a year older and you would think that Franjic is better than the existing Rightback options.
So compared to last season the team will need to step up to a higher level to compensate for losses of Berisha and Franjic ,expected improvements in all opposition teams and ACL commitments.
It will be tough and some extra quality is clearly needed.
