Questions like this: "Protectionism is sometimes necessary in trade."

Now I do think that protectionism is sometimes required so if I select "Strongly Agree" do they interpret that as that I think protectionism is good all the time?

An interesting exercise but the biggest problem is that what people say and what they do are very different. My beliefs are Libertarian but I am a far more law/authority abiding in how i live my life... part of that is 'making peace with establishment'... that said I will/do tell my sons not to assume authority has your best interests at heart.

I'm top right on the green. I feel disgusted being left leaning. Must be due to my open hatred of religious indoctrination, my lack of fucks given for children who don't want to be at school and my acceptance of homosexuality.

Pretty much what I expected - roughly centrist while leaning centre right.

I also have a problem with their interpretation of answers, or at least what i'm assuming these interpretations are.

eg "Those with the ability to pay should have the right to higher standards of medical care". Even though i believe in everyone having access to the most basic medical care, the wealthy should have the right to a higher standard of care, often for elective surgery or cosmetic surgery. Not everyone should have the right to a nose job or boob job. But i have no doubt they'd interpret "Strongly Agree" as being against universal healthcare.

I'm also suspicious of how they interpret a few other questions -eg

"It is regrettable that many personal fortunes are made by people who simply manipulate money and contribute nothing to their society"

or

"Because corporations cannot be trusted to voluntarily protect the environment, they require regulation"

Agreeing with these would undoubtedly be interpreted as left-leaning, even if it's simply distrust of the establishment.

yeah...but one question was along the lines of "what people do in the privacy of their bedrooms is there business"...something like that....so i answer "agree", but what if they are rooting dogs or little boys or something really bad that is morally and legally wrong????

so the answers can be a little dodgey....

The question is:

"What goes on in a private bedroom between consenting adults is no business of the state."

I think it then implies that children and animals are not involved.

Also, just did an experiment by answering questions from a deeply right wing conservative approach, and sure enough, ended up right in the top right corner. More authoritarian than Hitler and Thatcher.

I think most Australians are more anti-authoritarian than we think. More anti-authoritarian than both the Labor and Liberal parties.

On other ones I've taken I'm pretty much in the same left-right bracket but a bit more further down towards the libertarian column.

Suppose its because I answered that corporations need regulations to protect the environment, because lets face it, they all do.

I answered as honestly as I could to every question, and tried not to take the quiz in general in context but solely focused on each question as I read it.

There was one question that felt like it was saying "this is a lefty quiz. If you click disagree, it confirms you're a bad person because you're right-minded" but I can't remember exactly which one :lol: but I agreed with whatever lefty view it was pushing anyway.
