I count 8 flags here does that make Obama even more extremist than Abbott, since ones nationalism and jingoism is determine by the number of background flags?

Abbott's appearance in front of so many Australian flags today was atypical of Australian PMs in the past, including himself.

Do an image search for Christine Milne and Scott Ludlam you will be hard pressed to find any Australian flags. It must be difficult to win votes when you are so self loathing of your nationality.

Every leader stands in front of flags.
It makes them look statesman like.
They do it because it works. We shouldn't get hung up on it.
Australians are now just working out that the same spruced up shit that works in America also works here.
Big flags, spruced hair, make-up, lighting, jingos, nationalism. Bright white teeth. The whole show.

Just some flags lads chill out. Sweating the small stuff as always. There's projected one billion in debt, billion dollar deficits, thwarted terrorist attacks yet folks are flipping out about six flags and knights and dames. Talk about sweating the small stuff. Bigger issues lads.

I don't like overt nationalism and jingoism and simply expressed my feelings on the matter. The more deplorable symbolism was having the press conference at the AFP headquarters. We're not a police state. Anyway, desperate measures from a desperate man. I don't see this saving him but it's entirely predictable.

So what, they are not and never will be the Government of this country so who cares whether or not fringe dwellers like Milne and Ludlam like our flag.

Oh shit, I don't think I've got a photo of myself with the Australian flag. I must hate the place. Politicians don't need to pose in front of a flag to show they love the country. Leaders will, as it is symbolic of their position. It's a bit gauche to pose in front of an armada of flags, however. Very cringy, very US politics (which, in spite of what our leaders think, is very much not a good thing. The US political system is abysmal.)
