Never in the history of the Rudd/Gillard governments was there as many leaks and anti-leader sentiment as what the Libs are letting out now.
It's almost every second day

Quote:
It looks increasingly likely the Prime Minister will face a leadership spill before the year is out.

The ABC has spoken to eight ministers and six believe Tony Abbott will be challenged no matter what happens at the Canning by-election in Western Australia next Saturday.

"And this time I think they will get him," one minister said.

A double-digit swing against the Liberal Party in Canning would fuel the unrest and a turnaround of that magnitude is possible; both the News Limited Galaxy poll and the Fairfax Ipsos poll point to a 10-point swing.

The Ipsos poll has the Liberal Party leading Labor after preferences are distributed by 52 to 48 per cent — it was 62 to 38 per cent at the 2013 general election.

"And that's after we spent $1 million on that seat to save the Prime Minister, and Labor has spent nothing," one Cabinet minister said.

"He said: 'Give me six months.' Well, he has had six months and things have gone from bad to worse.

"He should just resign."

The only chance in hell the Liberal Party have of winning the next election is to distance themselves from this absolute joke of a human being as soon as possible. Don't get me wrong, I've put it out there before and I will put it out there again - In my eyes, the LNP are the scum of the Earth, but jesus fucking Christ, as much as Howard was an embarrassment with bowling a cricket ball, at least he was no where near the level of Tony.

I don't think there is any doubt that Abbott will go down as the worst PM we have ever had, and I try to say that as neutrally as possible. There have been some shoddy PMs in the past, and whether you agree or disagree with their principles is not the point... The bloke it just an utter fucking embarrassment..

I'm not even going to comment on the likes of Pyne, Hockey, Dutton, Morrison, Bishop.. Fuck me dead, how people that actually believe the shit they do are still relevant in 2015 is beyond me.

Good job Draups. Any of the previous Liberal PMs would have sacked the minister's you mentioned but not old mate Tones. To be fair there's a distinct lack of talent in that party at federal level, the blame has to be laid at the grassroots level for putting up so many mindless ideologues from preselection.

Spill spill spill.

Had to laugh that some insiders said Tone might call a snap election in order to nip any kind of leadership spill early, not sure what that would achieve bar them losing office lol.

Ignored by the government, shrunk by resignations – where now for Australia’s Climate Change Authority?

Bernie Fraser’s resignation as chairman of Australia’s Climate Change Authority has left many wondering what is left of it and what its future might be.

Established three years ago as part of the climate change package negotiated by the previous parliament’s Multi-Party Climate Change Committee, the Authority was formed to serve as the principal source of climate policy advice to the federal government, particularly on the issue of emissions targets....

...the Authority’s most significant project was its 2014 Targets and Progress Review, which recommended that Australia should set an emissions reduction target of 19% below 2000 levels by 2020, and cut emissions by 40-60% by 2030.

This year the Authority revisited its recommendations after the Abbott government set up a committee within the Prime Minister’s department to advise it on a target for Australia to take to the crucial United Nations Paris climate summit in December. The Authority published a brief report reiterating its earlier recommended targets, adding that Australia should cut its emissions by 30% by 2025.

The Government subsequently announced it would pledge to cut Australia’s emissions by 26-28% on 2005 levels by 2030, which for comparison with the Authority’s recommendation is equivalent to 19-22% below 2000 levels.

Your political bias is really shining through here. There are some fine ministers among that lot, the problem is, from your perspective, is they are Liberals. Pyne, Hockey, Morrison and Bishop are all outstanding ministers. Of course you will disagree with me, not because they aren't capable in their positions, but rather because they have a different ideological perspective from yourself, so youre automatically inclined to belittle them in order to beef up your own sense of intellectual worth. I could do the same with shadow Labor minsiters "durrr Shorten's a farkhead durrr Plibersek is a tard durrr", but I'm above that. :)

Taking ideology out of it, the fact you think Pyne and Hockey in particular are "outstanding ministers" means that your opinion loses any credibility.

At the job of the running the country they were perfectly capable. A lot of good legislation was passed by the minister's in their governments. The fact that the aforementioned ministers have proposed poor legislation and have therefore failed to get it through parliament is an indictment on their ministerial credentials.

You can focus on "party disunity" and media scuttlebutt as much as you like (interesting that you were happy to dismiss it for Dutton...impartial eh?) but their parliamentary record is there for anybody to see.

If their policies and performance were so wonderful why did they sack their own Prime Minister twice? Sounds strange that despite being "perfectly capable" they were booted from office by their own MP's.. twice. Of course they got sh-it through the senate, but merely passing legislation does not mean they were good policies. They didn't have for instance, Ricky Muir, Glen Lazarus and Jackie Lambie to contend with, despite vehement public opposition to the mining and carbon tax. Perhaps that they passed poor legislation that was ultimately rejected by the public is "an indictment on their ministerial credentials". That's on their records for all to see as well.

Are you saying you aren't right wing?

I think the point I was making in my post was abundantly clear.

Hard to say, what exactly is right wing these days??? when i do the Political compass test i end up in the economic libertarian quadrant,

it is true that i have a dislike for the ALP which is a recent occurrence as in the past i have voted ALP several times and usually vote based on policy and track record.....but as a new south welshman we have been right royally fucked by the ALP for years and the state has suffered terribly, and these grubs are never brought to justice.
so at a state and federal level they are just pathetic, corrupt, incompetent and heavy handed with their knee jerk decisions....and they must be coated in Teflon because nothing sticks

Are you saying you aren't right wing?

I think the point I was making in my post was abundantly clear.

I don't try and hide my political bias so I don't get his point. I did try very hard to not talk about any particular policies just the fact they failed to work effectively to get the legislation they wanted to past. I reject that these senators are anti-government and in any way "lefties" as they've allowed some policies like metadata retention and axing the carbon and mining taxes which I find extremely distasteful.

Anyway, Draups posted something completely reasonable and the typical responses came (e.g. but "Gillard and Rudd"...). Was just what I needed on a dross Monday morning at work
