Quote:
Malcolm Turnbull was Australia’s worst ever Communications Minister
By Renai LeMay - 14/09/2015 18

He might be charismatic, he might be popular, and pretty shortly he might be Prime Minister. But when it comes to technology policy, Malcolm Turnbull has been a disaster. The Member for Wentworth will be remembered as Australia’s worst ever Communications Minister — the man who singlehandedly demolished the NBN and put a polite face on draconian Data Retention and Internet piracy laws...
...As a Minister, Turnbull has consistently and energetically pursued appalling technology policy — the kind that will keep Australia in the digital dark ages for decades to come.

Poor Tone. Only $300k per year.

Tony Abbott is set to go off into the sunset with an annual pension of $307,542 per year.

That's what it said in the Herald Sun, yes. Is that your source? Unless my memory is far worse than I imagined, my aunt told us he split up with her by txt message. I'm more inclined to believe somebody who actually knows Deborah Beale over what the Herald Sun suggests.

PS- not that I expect (or want) you to believe me. It's utter hearsay for you to believe me. Whereas, from my perspective, it's at least educated hearsay.

Ex-high ranking politicians tend to make more money from sitting on boards of companies, speaking tours, etc. than from their pensions.

Easier in the UK than here, where they have far more clout globally than some former colonial PM. Nevertheless, they can still do fairly well here. I gather Alexander Downer has done just that (in addition to being High Commissioner to the UK).

Turnbull, who's immensely wealthy already from investment banking, very shrewd investments and a rich wife, will probably clean up from his sundries.

Yeah? Well my aunt knows Tony personally and he admitted that he is just Adolf Hitler, shaved off the mo and nobody noticed. Raw onions offset the effects of ageing, other than that his policies that he could get away with have been the same.

Hardy ha ha. I don't expect a soul on an internet football forum to accept thirdhand hearsay. I wouldn't accept it as gospel if somebody else wrote it (even now I don't accept it as gospel with a family member having said it). But it's not that funny. A family member is a friend of one of the parties involved. I'm more inclined to believe her than I am the Herald Sun. That's hardly hilarious.

Shorten's ethics with respect to his family members are somewhat dubious (although in this day and age, that's more common than not). Whether he broke up with his former wife by text message or at the footy, it doesn't make a huge deal of difference. But, as long as he hasn't done anything outrageous in that respect, it doesn't have any bearing on whether or not he's fit to be PM.

Tony Abbott mightn't believe himself to be Hitler, but he's staunchly devoted to the ideology of Santamaria. That's only a couple of degrees better.

Sobering thought for those that think this will be a good move

Most people who think this will be a good move aren't Liberal voters. Turnbull is a sly dog and it's apparent to most conservatives he is simply pursuing self interest not the national interest. I could possibly tolerate him were he to be democratically elected but he is gonna do whatever it takes to be PM, even if it means dragging the coalition and its values through the mud. If he does the not unless there is a massive turnaround in the state economy, I will be joining mcjules in casting my vote for the socialist alliance.

This is just the type of thing I wanted to hear =d>
