A nothing article, creating a bs headline because Gorman said "some" instead of "all". Now some papers are making it sound like we're going to be playing at every stadium east of the CBD. The "some" probably refers to the fact that they are still talking to ANZ to play a couple games there....or the fact that they haven't sorted out the negotiations properly yet.
The fact that they are going to change grandstand names and get Wanderer colours and logos everywhere at Parra for game day suggests that Parra will be the home ground. How many ANZ games there will be is still up in the air.

#NoToANZ This. He only said 'some' because they're still in negotiations and obviously can't confirm anything. But if we do have games elsewhere it'll likely only be 1 derby at ANZ and 1 game at Penrith, we're not going to be some travelling sideshow like the title of that article seems to suggest.

I think you have it spot on. The regional round is at Campbelltown as well. What's the bet that next season they take 1 game to Campbelltown and the regional game is at Penrith. the best thing western sydney could do is, whatever ground(s) they're playing at, check out sydney fc's season ticket prices and beat that by $20-$50. that'll be the best way to get some people cross over, or push over some fence-sitters.

Chipperfield scraps Tarra plansQuote:Socceroos star Scott Chipperfield will no longer return to Wollongong next month to play the remainder of the Illawarra Premier League season with Tarrawanna.
Chipperfield shocked the local football community earlier this month when he signed a short-term contract to join Tarra from early July.
It was then expected he would sign with an A-League club and play the remainder of his career in Australia.
But for family reasons, Chipperfield has been forced to cancel those plans and remain in Europe, where he will join a Swiss Amateur League club.
Chipperfield posted on Facebook ‘‘No A League for me. Asked the boys if I can go back to Oz & they said no:). Stay in Swiss & play amateur league & look for a job:).’’
When asked by a Facebook friend on his conversation wall if that also meant he would not be joining Tarrawanna, Chipperfield responded ‘‘Nah not now. Was looking forward to playing a couple of games. Especially against Dandy:). Yeh kids r happy.’’ http://www.illawarramercury.com.au/news/local/sport/football-soccer/chipperfield-scraps-tarra-plans/2603350.aspx?src=rss

Dont think WSW should be targeting SFC's crowd. The whole Idea is that they engage a new community that didnt feel support fot he current team. Granted people will swap, especially those that have travelled or supported from afar.

Happy Chipperfield is going back to Switzerland. Never saw him as someone who would be able to put bums on seats. So many better options.

just in case people didnt know also, although the tiniest difference, the hoops are inversed between the two (ie where there's a black hoop on one, there's a red on the other, and then where there's a red hoop on one there's a black on the other).

Parliament praise for Wanderers FC Quote:Western Sydney Wanderers FC were praised in federal parliament yesterday, as Ed Husic MP spoke about the importance of football in the region. Husic, federal member for Chifley and fan of Mt Druitt Rangers FC, touched on the game's origins in western Sydney, and took a moment to highlight Wanderers FC's introduction to the Hyundai A-League. "While many will lay claim to the origins of Football in Australia, Western Sydney has a compelling place in the game’s history," Husic said. "The first recorded match played in NSW under Association Football rules took place when the Wanderers played the Kings School Rugby team at the Parramatta Common on 14 August 1880. "Given the regions strong links to the game of Football, it was fitting today that the new Western Sydney franchise was unveiled as the Western Sydney Wanderers, the same name as that first team. "Like many others who grew up in Western Sydney, I look forward to the game’s heartland being represented in its premier competition for the first time since 2004. This is terrific news. I cannot wait to see them play. "While few of the games founders will still be around, I’m sure many of their children and grandchildren are still active and involved in the game in Western Sydney and will rejoice when a local team proudly takes to the field in the A-League." http://www.footballaustralia.com.au/wswanderersfc/news-display/Parliament-praise-for-Wanderers-FC/47866

So Ante Milicic finally announced as assistant manager. Also Ron Corry has been announced as GK coach with Trevor Morgan announced as NYL coach.

Happy with all those signings. Ron Corry is an excellent choice as a GK coach, and it's good to see they're aiming to apparently get a NYL team up from the start with Trevor Morgan being appointed as coach. Then again no surprise they are, Western Sydney is probably the easiest region to start up a NYL team.

Still awaiting word on the W-League side. The 2 matildas on TWG the other night mentioned it, so expect news on that also in the coming weeks I guess. Again...shouldn't be hard putting together a W-League side either really.

Some nice, and even, surprisingly, very 'Western Sydney' based coaching staff and even GM selections! Shows the local quality on offer! I vaguely remember, Corry has briefly a latter era NSL coach, wasn't he? Edit: Ah he WAS! Wollongong Wolves that's where I remember! The infamous early 00s Wolves! Must've been GK coach with Nick Theo's staff. Former Socceroo GKer ofcourse, nice to see guys like him, more former NSL folks, back with the premier competition. Too bad not even having Corry, aswell as Poppa, with this team couldn't sway Chippers back. BusbyBabe wrote:Bridge and Topor-Stanley signed. Beauchamp is close apparently. Heheh T-S - the first of the non-West Sydney products, though 'being Canberra' he's only from just down the road and it's kind of fitting too - given if it weren't for the WS conundrum his own town's bid may've had a chance, or were atleast the strongest next biddies for the next A-League move. It's actually ironic, or a nice co-incidence that all these experienced free agents - Mooy, Elrich, Cole, Beauchamp, Covic, Bridge, Rozic, Sterjovski etc... many of them, even most, are products of West Sydney, of some kind of another (I think most have come up through youth football there)! It's quite extra ordinary even, even compared to previous seasons? Sure is nice timing for these lads. Edited by gloryperth: 29/6/2012 03:48:20 PM

Clearly you are not up to date with the fact that the Government of Australia, the AFL, declared the ACT to be part of western Sydney so their new franchise could rip money off the ACT Government to play home games there. ;)

I should've known AFL knows NSW best! Certainly better than this West Aussie - Looking at maps, PFFT! Got it all wrong, clearly! I must suffer from false memories, must learn to doublethink in the Newspeak. Need to go back to AFL School, or what is it called, 'AFL's program of re-education,' as part of their 'Imperial ministry of colonial terra-forming.' Or is it the 'Military Academy: Invasion Division.' I guess that's where Mister Football gets hiz learning done? For the greater good, I have won victory over myself! I love my big brother, AFL! Cole, Beauchamp, Covic and others probably would've left regardless? And tbh I keep forcefully linking guys like Culina and Sterjovski to the club, but I'm not sure how likely, if any, we'll even see those boys in the A-League again, let alone at W Sydney this season (Especially if Sterj still has ridiculous, Marquee-level, wage demands).
