Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is a massive Game of Thrones fan but was ‘so disappointed’ with final season

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has joined the chorus of Game of Thrones super fans who were left bitterly disappointed by the final season of the fantasy epic.
Fans have been so angry about how the beloved show ended that some have petitioned for it to be remade – and the Spurs boss wasn’t happy with it either!
After years of gripping drama, meticulous character development and more shocking deaths to shake a sword at, Game of Thrones went out in a blaze of genocidal dragon fire and queen slaying which has completely outraged the majority of its loyal fanbase.
Pochettino included.
The Spurs manager is a HUGE Game of Thrones fan, and even named his beloved direwolf dog ‘Sansa’ after the newly-crowned Queen in the North, Sansa Stark.
And he sounded distraught his favourite show was such a let down – saying the final season ‘just made no sense’.
I mean, Bran? BRAN?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!
“Ah, I am so disappointed,” said the Spurs boss in an exclusive interview with talkSPORT’s Laura Woods.
“I was disappointed with the fifth episode [The Bells – which has the lowest rating of any Game of Thrones episode ever and saw Queen Daenerys go from defender of the people to rampaging murdering maniac in about 20 minutes].
“It was an amazing series but the last year [the last season] it was like, ‘we need to finish, how can we finish?’
“I don’t know, it didn’t make sense! There was no common sense!
“I think we all feel the same, not only myself. I think all the people are not happy with the way it finished.”
Pochettino was then asked what GOT character is most like him.
You might think of Jon Snow – a leader of men, whose army would die for him on the battlefield.
You may think of the First Sword of Bravos, Syrio Forel – Master of the Water Dance and skilled in the art of attack.
You may even think of the Spider, Lord Varys – Pulling all the strings on the sidelines.
But his actual answer was…

They could have still palmed it off to HBO and taken a cut. But they’re too self absorbed.
The best thing I can think of is GRRM made this strategic chess move and now whatever he writes will be epic.

HBO should have just cut D+D loose and forced the full final season. -PB As I understand it, it was D&D who had the rights, rather than HBO. Helps when your old man is a former Goldman Sachs chairman and advisor to President Bush, I guess.

I didn't care much for his storyline from the beginning but I was convinced after the "hold the door" episode that there would be a monumental revelation about the GoT universe and how time and space operate within it. Whether that was Bran =night king or something I dont know, but I was expecting a massive moment in these last few episodes. Instead nothing. Absolutely nothing. All it would have taken would be in that shot where he's getting wheeled away from the Small Council meeting if he blinks, has bright blue eyes, and then blinking again back to normal. It would have explained away all the contrivances, plot holes and character inconsistencies if it was all Bran.

I've been watching some entertaining Series's on Netflix of late. The wife and i discussed how similar it felt nearing the end of GOT. Start to mid or a little further had you captivated but as things were coming to the end much lost the plot and the end anti climatic or just flat wrong. Was it because you had pictured a type of finish in your mind ? or wished for. I don't know.

As far as I'm concerned Game of Thrones ended after season 6. The last two seasons felt like a completely different programme.

+x+x+x+x+xPeople are kidding themselves if they didn't see this coming. Go back and watch Bran's visions in seasons 4 and 6. He foresaw poor character development u turns and terrible writing? -PB Perhaps it could have been better done but if see this as a 'u turn' you should go back and re watch the whole series. She's done horrid things from the beginning. There's an enormous leap from killing prisoners of war to literally torching an entire city. It would probably have made sense if we had a few episodes to flesh it out, now it just seems contrived. I wouldn't call feeding innocent people to her dragons "killing prisoners of war" but I do agree that it should have been fleshed out a bit more. There is a part of the books where she tortures innocent daughters of the slave owners that was probably viewed as too much in by D&D but in retrospect would have revealed her true nature a bit more. I was referring to her roasting the Tarley's, but yeah she's done a bunch of horrible shit throughout the series. I've expected her to turn "evil" for a long time, her self-righteousness always pissed me off lmao. I have no doubt that this is the path the books are going down and if the show had another 20 episodes to flesh everything out it would make a fuckload more sense (as would lots of other things), but as I said having all this happen so fast feels so contrived. Having her go from sending her army to save the world from an undead apocalypse to Dresden-ing a city in the space of three episodes just feels bizarre and hamfisted.
