But at the end end of the day what did the other GC bid have besides the support from all the other PL teams. No facilities, No players.

There will be a few pissed off people but it's done now. Nothing you can do about it.

Moreton Bay United will be interesting. I did hear they have signed an aggreement with Albany Creek to share their youth players.

The most interesting point is the FFA looking at promotion/relegation from 2022.

Is it promotion/relegation to A-league or to a QLD 2nd Tier.

So that conflict of interest is true right? For the record, the reps fields next to Metricon are good fields that GC Football was to use, there's a grandstand there too. It's actually probably better than Palmy's facilities.

I'm giving up on football down under, it seems no-one understands it here anyway.

The man charged with running this bidding process is Ben Mannion, guess who he played for on the Gold Coast?
I am told the Gold Coast Football bid was accompanied by a letter of support from every club on the coast except Palm Beach but dont be suprised if the deal has already been done behind a closed door. If we are going to develop an a-league club from this competition it wont be happening with Palm Beach.

Check this guy's facebook, apparently he 'likes' Palm Beach.

Starting a completely new club/franchise on the Gold Coast failed miserably last time. FFA probably thought it better to go with an already existing club this time and, in doing so, connect with the Gold Coast footballing community.

I think this is the most important part, I'm all for it if they don't segregate themselves. I think if you see a lot of the criticism it's because of that lack of connection. Palm Beach aren't a massive club, they are the biggest on the Coast but I really think it will be quite a challenge to turn around popular opinion.

On Football Gold Coast's facebook page, one Palmy man (with over 7 likes) said that the haters are "disgruntled ex-players who didn't make the grade." He seems to have taken down these posts after I gave him some stick over them but it really does reek of arrogance, which popular opinion supports. Hell, I've played against them several times! Some of them I'm mates with, some of them I just can't stand.

Palm Beach are like the Millwall of the Gold Coast, nobody likes them but they don't care. I really hope they make a concerted effort to get the Coast behind them and possibly even to contact the GCUSC.

Any potential new GC A-League club will NOT be based around the Palm Beach APL club. I could almost guarantee that! Any new GC A-League club will be a new entity entirely. Give it a couple of years and I'm sure you'll start seeing some things coming from the GC. And I'm 99.9% certain Palm Beach would support that approach.

Having said that I would strongly suggest to the Palm Beach club that they begin a "charm offnesive" to show the public that they will be a truly representative side from the region rather than a local club punching above its weight. One token way to do this would be to name the club Gold Coast Sharks and potentially compromise their club colours.

As for the rest.........C'MON THE STRIKERS!!!!!!!!!

That has happened before apparently, might be the best way around it. I might wind up turning up out of desperation, I really miss matchdays right now. We complained about how it was lacking compared to Europe at the time but I'd take it over anything right now. Let's get GCUSC behind it.

No. Thats far from the worst decision. In all my years this apl process has to be the worst example of bad governance i have ever seen in football , business or politics. With the qld sides dominating the national jnr championships this week they change everything.
In the metro u14s they won every game with 14 of the 16 players coming from Rochdale, lions and gold coast and now none of those teams are in the apl so the players cannot be selected next year.
In the metro u13s who finished 2nd 12 players from Rochdale, lions and Gold Coast same story next year.
As for the conflict of interest on the Gold Coast we are all used to this from fq but usually from the ceo, it appears he is grooming his successor in the black arts.

The Qld Country U14s came 2nd in Pool A to Qld Metro. The Country boys won Pool B last year and have been undefeated in the last 2 years, that's a fair effort when they only trained together as team for four days before the championships.

Depends what their wage demands are.

Talay could be a possibility.

McLaren is still overseas last I heard.

Farina/Culina/Miron could ask too much of an infant APL club.

My money (and hopefully) is on Gareth Edds as he is doing wonders with his football academy in Townsville and has shown massive loyalty to the region after all that went wrong with the Fury.

He deserves it imo, should he apply for it.

After what happened last time could we not borrow expertise.
ie Head coach and say (Ron Smith on loan)select team and start preseason.
would keep costs down and winning with locals seems to be very important in the region.
also exposes the region to other Aleague Coaches

any club and some have already is free to call in consultants to help set the club up correctly.
Ron smith filed a report for Captial football but there is also Craig foster, Francis Awaritefe to name only a few.
We may not like what they say but that may be a good thing after last time.

Will APL sides have the budget to appoint the likes of Blieberg, Culina, Farina, etc. I seriously doubt it. Edds (and other up and comers) would be far more likely.
