You have to say that we've had a lot of positive news this season so far. Its early days but the young guys seem to be making moves in the right direction. Interesting to see Brad Inman has scored 6 goals in 5 games at U21 level.

How is Kruse going? Getting a lot of game time but is he playing well? Such an important year for him.

Some quality young talent. Let's hope our concerns about a lack of young talent in the EPL etc proves to be short lived.

Kruse was lively running on right.
For the first time I watched him for 90 min on Japanese SAT TV.

Kruse was quite involved against Schalke. I'm so glad the manager keeps playing him. No assist or goal yet but his movement is what the manager likes and the commentators say the same. These website ratings are generally rough. He got a 4, 1 being the best, 6 the worst for last night's game.

Leckie's FSV Frankfurt went down 3-0 in an uncharacteristic display. Leckie wasn't in the squad so his neck must still be keeping him out. Hope to see him back within 2 weeks.

I think Kruse has been quite good. He's no standout but he has done his job consistently in every match and been involved in a couple of goals.

I thought he had two assists in his first game this season? Could've been a cup game or friendly though

Calling those "assists" would be generous.

He nodded the ball on near the halfway line for the first and hurled a speculative cross that required a lot of luck and skill on the part of the striker for the second. An assist, a term taken from basketball where the pass and result are unambiguous, is often a misleading way of describing a player's involvement in a goal.

He still played okay, as he did in another game earlier this month that I saw him in.

Yeah, as weird as it seems - like you Farran I though he might be tad older by now too - but when he made the subs bench in a Newcastle league match he was only 17/18 at the time. Hence so many of us getting excited then! Obviously it was quite a bit pre-mature - back then it was late in the season, Newcastle were struggling/going to be relegated (IF I have the right season, IIRC?) and that's a big reason why Inman was elevated soo quickly. The fact he was playing for Scotland U19s back then too, helped stirr the public interest/panic!

The fact though, that Inman hasn't seen any loan moves, not even to League Two, the past season or two - Where others like Herd, Lowry, Luongo and others did/have at his age, is a bit of a concern. Though tb fair, I 'think' he did suffer a long term injury at some point?

He may be still a great talent though, iirc he was one of the young Aussies Abroad called up to Holger's March 2011 extended training camp and he was in the line up that faced 'Gladbach Under 23s, scoring both of Australia's goals. Sounds like he impressed. But no senior football for so long, despite his still relatively young age - he enters in 'A-League youth-esque late start territory!'

BTW On that - Some of us were discussing Wikipedia in relation to the Sydney Derby page there, but Inman's page, or lack of, is reflective of his lack of senior 'league' football at any pro level - Look at all the creations and deletions!

Oar and Sarota just lost 1-2, Sarota played well as a midefield destroyer, Oar was, interesting. The team doesn't seem to use Oar as often as they should, he seems to get it without much support. He likes like he's in the team purely because of his crosses and set pieces.

Last season was a write off for him as far as injuries were concerned hence the lack of news from him. He did return ear the end of season to bag some goals. Seems to be good at ghosting into the box. Wins back possession well too

Jpanese commentator was saying he was dangerous as he sent in good cross ball over and over from left. I am a littl bit surprised to find he is only 20.

As Japanese was on the bench for Utrecht while Japanse was on the pitch playing for Vitesse, Japanese commentary was on Vitesse side.

Holger will still idnore them and pick has beens like Neill,Carney and co playing in mickey mouse leagues.

Great to see Babalj score on his dream debut with his boyhood club. Hopefully a start isn't too far off. We need a young striker of his like badly!

if porta gets a run for the nt it could be a silver lining. Id rather a young up and coming player get given a run but porta balances the team as archie thompson is the only specialist striker in the nt and heoften subs on to play rm

So what - from the stats page I found its 7 goals in 11 games (i'm not sure if thats including the overnight game - might make it 9 goals in 12, or may already be included).

Doesn't mean he deserves a Socceroos call up - he doesn't have a 'strayan name, like Thompson or Carney. He's also played too many games this last year to deserve a call up.
