Langerak possibly getting another game this weekend with Weindenfeller sick with some 'gastrointestinal-type infection'. Decision to be made today supposedly. Also every article about Langerak at the moment mentions his 11 wins from 11 games

http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/bundesliga/startseite/590991/artikel_weidenfeller-fraglich-langerak-steht-bereit.html

Quote:
The use of Borussia Dortmund's main goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller's home game against Werder Bremen on Friday (20.30 clock LIVE! When kicker.de) is questionable. The 33-year-old could start of the week because of a gastrointestinal-type infection did not work out and isolated from the team practiced on Wednesday. "The decision whether novel stands in goal against Bremen, we will meet tomorrow," announced coach Juergen Klopp.

Weidenfeller was kept away from his training sessions by the team in order to avoid the risk of infection. "We are now waiting on what load it can handle today and tomorrow as he reacts to it," said Klopp said Wednesday.

If Weidenfeller is not operational, Mitch Langerak would be the third time this season, according to one cup and league ready for use.

Here, the Australians could complete the dozen: In so far completed its eleven official matches left Dortmund's number two the place is always a winner.

And finally some Irvine stuff. Last paragraph the most interesting with his new manager saying he will play at CB and CM

http://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/football/irvines-record-is-music-to-johnstons-ears-in-attempts-to-assemble-band.21890846

Quote:
Irvine's record is music to Johnston's ears in attempts to assemble band
Callum Baird
Saturday 17 August 2013

JACKSON IRVINE does not have to look far these days to find fellow countrymen.

Two groups of Australians are touring our fair isles in 2013, one rather more successfully than the other. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, at least, will be spared the ignominy of failing to win a single Test match when they embark on a seven-date circuit of Britain's biggest music halls in the winter. "I love them," said Irvine, who was wearing the T-shirt to prove it. "I've got tickets to see them in Edinburgh in November. It'll be brilliant."

Irvine joined Kilmarnock on loan from Celtic this week, and the central midfielder is likely to start today's match at St Mirren Park as Kilmarnock seek to plug the holes a summer of change ripped into the teamsheet. Searching for top-level football, he was in no doubt he could find what he was looking for at Rubgy Park. "Hopefully I can get a regular start; if I can step in straight away and keep my position in the team, that'd be great," he said.

"You can learn a lot in youth games and things like that but once you get to a certain point, I think you need to test yourself physically against men every week. One of my best mates, Lewis Toshney, was here a couple of years ago for a loan spell and he absolutely loved it, he said the boys were great and everybody in the place looked after him."

Fans hoping for another dragged out will-he, won't-he tabloid soap story might have had their hopes already dashed, though. Differing European/Scottish rulebooks aside, Neil Lennon is no doubt more careful now and, unlike that infamous exile Mo Bangura, Irvine confirmed he definitely won't be lining up against Celtic. And though his focus in the short-term is fully on Kilmarnock, the back of his mind will hide thoughts of his parent club and the manager he aims to impress.

"I'll need to build on the experience that I can take in this league because this is where I want to play my football," he said. "It's right under the nose of the manager which is probably the priority. There'll be people coming to watch the games and keeping tabs on how I'm progressing, so that's a bonus."

Irvine's versatility is one of the major reasons manager Allan Johnston was so keen to bring him to Rugby Park and even Lennon and the player are still unsure which position he'll eventually make his own. In the short term, though, will Irvine play at centre-back or in central midfield?

"Both," Johnston said bluntly. "There's a few missing from the centre of the park and we've only really got the one centre half just now. It's good that he can play both positions. He played last week for Celtic against Liverpool and did extremely well; he's good on the ball so hopefully he makes an impact."

What the fuck has happened in the last 48hrs where suddenly everyone think Rogics career is doomed by staying at Celtic because he did not come back from injury on astroturf. I don't know if there is evidence on modern astroturn pitches but people believe astroturf can contribute to injuries. Who really expected him to come straight back into the first team for a Champions league game when he has not had a run of competitive starts for the first team before.

While it would be nice for him to be in the Champions league them missing out might be fine. Firstly as an attacker he would probably get about 4 touches in the CL group stages and they would probably go straight out. In the Europa league they could win a few games and he would still get experience against decent teams. Also if they go out they will be less likely to bring in a player who might play over him and a player could even possibly move for the door.

I had a look on the celtic forums the other day and they were saying that the side celtic played in the CL game lacked any creativity and nearly all of them were saying they need Rogic on the pitch to provide it. He has obviously made an impact and I would expect us to be seeing a lot of him later this season.

Halloran was injured in a game last week I don't know when but it could have possibly contributed to him not making the bench for the senior team. Two articles mentioned it

You understate too much, infact he DOES criticise him, though in context of where he's coming from.

He's saying, rightly or wrongly, we play more direct out here and that's where Babalj is coming from. So he's not used to working within the more integrated, building up, tactical approach working from back and especially the 'work off the ball' that is required. We often hear this and even see this with the NT. Hence the value of players like Holman. This is why he says that you could risk end up 'playing with only ten men'. The strikers can't go missing, no room for passengers -they have to do their share, closing down the opposition and providing avenues and interplay going forward. Work rate must increase and probably fitness to sustain that work rate. Likely tactical thinking too, with again, adjusting to the demands and higher standard over there. As always far great intensity, speed and speed of thinking required. All that heavily relates to Verbeek's criticisms, remarks too. He's a big guy, so it's not easy for him. He'll have to work hard, improving his '90 minute game' and learning to play 'the Dutch style' and integrate with the team, tactically.

This can only be good, especially in regards to his future NT prospects. As we require similarly from our NT players, given our more Dutch-styled tactical approach.

Great to see Cooper take his chance and hopefully now he will get on earlier in the game or starting. While I don't see him being picked from the World Cup from Eerste Divisie but Honda had his european breakout season at VVV in their promotion from Eerste Divisie. Now he dominated that league and was playing in the Eredivise before they got relegated but it can still be a good platform, very hard to win promotion though with only the winners going up.

Also if we are praising Cooper for playing well I think no-one has really mentioned Marveggio who made his first start last weekend for Telstar.

EDIT: in not as good news just reading a match report it seems the guy Cooper replaces Nwofor was the best player up to his substitution and also scored

haha all good pal. Hoping he has a big game, would be nice to see him on the scoresheet, or nabbing an assist or two.

He is going to be playing wide right I think. They have put down 4-4-2. Brown, Kayal will be playing as the CMs, Mulgrew is the other wide player so I am guessing he will get his preferred left leaving Rogic on the right.
