Ikmondis was given the captains armband for the U21's was he not? Suppose Serie C is about that level anyway. If he goes he really needs to be looking at 90 mins a week or their abouts.

Amini is always so easy to find :D

Times are great now. We need to nurture all of our talent coming through. There are so many decent players coming that I forget some. I guess this is the thread where we will continuously mention how they're going. Imagine if Brilliante and Ikonomidis kick on in Italy in the next two years and Amini gets a full year for the U23, Sainsbury has a solid year in Holland and Edwards goes close to promotion. Plus Herd making a comeback and Leckie, Oar and Halloran improving on their weak areas. We need to cap Ikonomidis asap.

Anyone got news on Bozanic's injury or why he was taken off?

Hasn't Ikonomidis played for the junior national teams at competitions? Doesn't that mean that he can't join another national team with the new rules?

He's been on training camps with Greek age teams, but IIRC never played competitively, but he's also played competitive games for us in the U-20's.

Either way, he's still eligible for both countries as you're only locked out from playing senior football for country A if you play youth football for country B before becoming eligible for country A. As he has been eligible for both countries since the day he was born the matter won't be decided until his first competitive senior cap. Adama Traore was one example falling the way we don't want; playing youth football for Ivory Coast long before he ever came to Australia and obtained citizenship.

I'm happy to have European countries' youth systems train up our players for us against quality European opposition with shorter travel times from their clubs, as long as they end up playing for the Socceroos at the senior level!

Skapetis with a goal, an assist and hitting the woodwork in a 5-0 win over 9th tier Congleton Town for a Stoke XI that included several first team players. Teenage GK Dominic Kurasik rode the pine, no word of Alex Grant though.

Excerpts from the link:

Quote:
City were in complete control and former Queens Park Rangers attacker Peter Skapetis was causing the hosts all sorts of problems with several efforts at goal, as well as striking the bar.

Skapetis and Jerome then combined again to devastating effect as a great cross from the tricky forward was converted brilliantly by Jerome’s left boot to complete his hat-trick inside the opening half an hour.

However, City were to land a sucker punch shortly afterwards when they made it four as Nathan Ricketts-Hopkinson burst down the left hand side before crossing to Skapetis who applied the finish.

Fiorentina didn't tweet their bench, they're losing 2-0 already in the first half, maybe they should chuck him on!

Hoping the next friendly Ange throws Ikon and all these Euro players on for kicks and gigs and watch them run rings around Asians. It's gonna be a farce this Asian Cup if we get on top of all this.
