And don't forget they speak dutch or french in belgium, and his team is in the dutch-speaking part of the country. so, how does that matter after 3 weeks? he's spent more time in italy. i could hear that.

Halloran on the bench
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

That's because Belgium, with it's internal and external history, has a quite interesting and in a way, distinct demographic divide. They're officially regions - The northern half being the 'Dutch' Flanders and the southern half being the 'French' Wallonia. The dynamics are still a source of complexity in Belgium, including agitation from some in Flanders about succeeding, which a number of folk in the less prosperous Wallonia would not be in favour of. But anyway, with near half the population of Belgium, being French speakers, most of them in Wallonia, it's only natural that they are 'quite similar'. ;) :p AndyToddsElbow wrote:Perhaps the Socceroos can wear red + white so Oar can pretend he's at his club and will actually play well. :-k  =d> Anything to get him playing well with us, right? It'd be a Flemish accent actually - sounds kind of like one? That's the region his team is based, the Flanders side of Belgium and the team obviously has a Dutch/Flemish name! I think, being soo isolated, we sometimes look at our Aussies Abroad soo abstractly, as names on paper - But this is the reality in a way. These boys, transplanted to the other side of the world, often at young ages and the level of adaptation, immersion, they experience and at times need to experience, to not only adapt on the field, but even more so off it - this, in-part, reflects that lifestyle. He probably already knows some Dutch - I remember he was linked to and trialled with Dutch team Roda JC and as we've discussed he's been everywhere from 'Geordie' Newcastle, to the famous Anatolian region in Turkey and the northern regions of Piedmont and Lombardy in Italy, via Turin (Juve) and Bergamo (Atalanta)! BTW He IS originally from 'Sydney' after-all :p and that 'weird accent' don't sound too different from some Sydney-siders. ;) :p The Frenchman wrote:The guy moved over to Europe when he was still a kid, this often happens with Aussies that go overseas when they are teens. A lot of the english based boys have weird hybrid accents. I would say he sounded continental, its hard to narrow it down to a particular country though, italian if anything maybe. Good to see he is doing something at least, also good that Juve still own him. This could mean two things, they either see promise in him, or they will continually loan him out until end of contract hoping they can get a good transfer fee and if not release him upon contract end. The other interesting taking from this is that Vidmar had nothing to do with the transfer, i had just thought from the go that would have been what had happened. Then again maybe they didn't cross paths too much back in the City days.
Edited by The Frenchman: 15/9/2014 02:56:19 PM paladisious wrote:It's not his own accent, he's just unconsciously copied the accents of those around him to fit in, just like what happened to Steve McClaren and Joey Barton. It's called speech accommodation, and is something that native speaking English teachers are taught to avoid. Actually, these. And trust, 'The Frenchman' to know. ;) :p BTW Thanks for heads up paladisious - makes so much more sense now, that he's still contracted to Juve and indeed he's final season of the Juve contract, IIRC?! So this must be another one of those weird kind of loan arrangements they do over in Italy (Though the co-ownership thing no longer exists?!)? But actually must just be the traditional loan arrangement, given it's a loan to a club outside Italy. Edited by GloryPerth: 16/9/2014 05:18:33 AM

What is it, squad size of 25 including 2-3 keepers? The bigger clubs in the UCL often put youngsters in the squad to test them out. Arsenal are pretty known for it.

It's a 19 man squad but feel so complexed to why he can be only BVBII player in that squad but can't crack into the BVBII starting line up, I don't quite get that given that the coaching staff still rate him if he can make the UCL squad. Given his contract runs soon I hope club has a plan for Musti and loan him out soon into the future, it's really virtually impossible that he can the first team with scary amount of midfield talent that BVB have got.
Feel so confused by this...:-k

Edited by Barca4life: 16/9/2014 10:11:50 PM I've been trying to work this out also! It's like he's on the fringes of the first team, but they'll play him in the reserve squad for some game time. Why wouldn't they give him 90 mins in the reserve squad? Really can't understand.

Not good enough for game time in the first team, but not so far away to leave permanently in reserves. The reserve team coach would be hoping to maintain a level of consistency in his squad as well. Remember, they play in the 3rd tier, not an academy league.

Video of player analysis on Dutch Foxsports titled: Tommy Oar, the creative mind of FC Utrecht. Worth a look even if you can't understand the language. http://foxsports.nl/video/230360-piero-tommy-oar-het-creatieve-brein-van-fc-utrecht.htmlPS. Great opportunity for Amini.

Speaking of BVB. Kagawa's first game back for them over the weekend was quite immense even though he only lasted 60min then was taken off due to cramps. An in form and fit Kagawa will make the Japanese really dangerous come January so I think one of Mitch or Musty need to make sure thats not the case....

Constantly changing the midfield when Amini isn't on the bench for the first team causes issues with cohesion, etc. Its clear tho that Klopp must rate Amini but believes he isn't quite there yet.

Brett Holman scored for Al-Nasr a day or two ago.
He's into his final year of his 2-year contract and still looks quite fit (body shape wise). Could be a decent Aus-marquee for next season.

The Amini situation is very frustrating - I only saw his short cameo against Liverpool in pre-season but he looked the goods, he has clearly progressed a lot since he left the A-League and if only he was getting game time now he could do a job for us at the Asian Cup. He is ahead of Brillante in terms of development and ability at this point in my opinion, just needs some bloody game time!
