DDS is 18 now and has just started at Roda. He's not a long way off the trajectory of Arjen Robben (different roles but same principle). Robben was at Groningen until he was 18, then he moved to PSV. Groningen being at a similar level to Roda and PSV being that step up.

Robben's an interesting one because he serves as an example of a truly brilliant, world class footballer (and simulation expert) who did not go through one of the massive/outstanding academies (Ajax, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Southampton, etc.). I stand to be corrected. Possibly Groningen's academy is far better than I estimated.

It's interesting to look at the trajectory of young Aussie players vs foreign players. Usually trajectory gives you an idea of what's realistically achievable for them.

Still, hats off to DDS and his management for making a seriously decent transfer. He has some hope of realising his potential on account of it.

I wonder if it's possible to get Rogic, Luongo and DDS in the same XI for the Socceroos.
