or just play for another team in the EPL. which is probably what will happen. Pretty much, lol. Off to the economically unstable Greece a year after being considered one of the top 10 midfielders in the world and EPL captain? Yeah nah. Considered by whom? I reckon that's stretching it somewhat. Most people would be able to name twenty or thirty better midfielders on the spot. Traditionally, Jedinak's passing and movement has let him down. In saying that he (and Cahill too) were involved in some beautiful passages of play against Bangladesh. It was against Bangladesh, however. Statistically he was rated as like 3rd in Europe. Gotta remember he is a DEFENSIVE midfielder. In his position, silky passing is just like a fancy paint job on a car - looks great but doesnt make it any faster. Disagree. Silky (or shall we say clinical) passing is not like a fancy paint job on a car. If anything it's like an engine in a car. Although screening and intercepting (where Jedinak thrives) are crucial for defensive midfielders, if a defensive midfielder cannot pass accurately and, make space, by way of creative passing and movement, then they're not among the best defensive midfielders, let alone midfielders, generally. Face it, if Jedinak genuinely was one of the top ten midfielders in Europe, he wouldn't have been playing for Crystal Palace for too long. He'd have been fielding offers from all manners of clubs which play in the knock-out stages of the Champion's League. Don't forget that Xabi Alonso, Busquets, Schweinsteiger, De Rossi, Yaya Touré, Mascherano, Khedira and a bunch of other blokes like that are (or can be classified as) defensive midfielders. They're defensively solid and also outstanding in terms of creativity. Jedinak, while exceedingly handy, is too one dimensional. Lots of those players are more along the lines of the complete defensive midfielder. There's a reason they're playin UCL knock-out stages and Jedinak is not. Thus, I still think it's too big a call. I wasnt trying to argue with you or even commenting on my preferences. I was commenting on a reported statistical analysis of all players in European top leagues. As for the passing - depends on your system and expectations really. In A-League terms you're comparing Brattan and Portaloo.

I wasnt trying to argue with you or even commenting on my preferences. I was commenting on a reported statistical analysis of all players in European top leagues. As for the passing - depends on your system and expectations really. In A-League terms you're comparing Brattan and Portaloo. All good. This is 442. So there's always going to be a heck of a lot argument. But it doesn't really depend on your system and expectations. We're talking about well-rounded defensive midfielders. Jedinak is fairly weak in offensive aspects of defensive midfield (which remain crucial to the role), thus cannot possibly be regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders. And we do need to look at well-rounded defensive midfielders. Why do you suppose Champions League clubs prefer well-rounded players in that position rather than more one-dimensional ones like Jedinak? This is why statistical analyses can be misleading. I always say, stats needs to be looked at through the prism of context. If stats were all-powerful, Jedinak would be playing for a club like Real Madrid. There's so much more to football than that. Especially with 4-3-3 (or 4-2-3-1) type football being all the rage, it's necessary for the defensive midfielder to be able to act as link between defense and midfield. Possession is critical in this style of football. So the CDM needs very accurate passing, great vision, ball-carrying ability and off the ball movement. Jedinak is not all that good at the first three of these things, certainly. Key components of defensive midfield If the claim is that Jedinak is in the top ten midfielders in world (even defensive midfielders in the world), then he'd need to be far more well-rounded like those other players. He's excellent at defence, but not good enough overall to merit the claim.

By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

What's the Kruse situation? Still injured?
It would be nice for one of the Aussies to get on the pitch for Stuttgart.

Jedinak on the bench. Laughable how the website gets his view before each game as captain. Cabaye has been great and it's a big shame for Jedinak. Thankfully Stoke will bid for him in January. Could be a chance.

Either way he should just leave, some team could use him, he's seems too loyal to palace

"CRYSTAL Palace midfielder Mile Jedinak could be the subject of a fresh bid from Stoke City in January, it is being reported. The Australian was reportedly close to joining the Potters in the summer, but instead stayed at Selhurst Park where he has featured on several occasions in league and cup so far this season. But after Stoke City chairman Peter Coates told the Stoke Sentinel that they are in the hunt for a defensive midfielder, rumours have resurfaced about a new bid to land Jedinak."
