SPL:

In the Dundee derby, Ryan McGowan played 90 mins in Dundee United's 2-1 away loss to Dundee.
Tom Rogic played 64 mins in 10-man Celtic's last minute 1-0 home win over Partick Thistle for whom Ryan Edwards was an unused sub.
Jackson Irvine returned to the starting line-up and played 90 mins in Ross County's 2-0 away loss to Inverness.
Scott McDonald played 90 mins and scored 2 goals in Motherwell's 3-3 home draw against Hamilton Academical. He now has 7 goals for the season.

what a sad state of affairs....

in England you have to head down to league One to find an Aussie who actually started and finished a game on the park.

And everywhere else isnt much better.

Most leagues are on a break. Elsewhere it is actually much better. England is no longer the be all and end all of Aussies abroad.

Most of our starting line-up are playing in Europe's top ten leagues.

Should the aim be to have Aussies in the top 4/5 leagues and actually being in the starting 11 on a regular basis.

because Im not seeing it.

Its not as good as our golden generation but its still better than other previous Socceroos generations contrary to popular belief. We have also improved prospects dramatically since the dark ages of 2012 and Holger's hobos.

I don't know why you're so optimistic. If you look at our best XI most of our players haven't fully established themselves in Europe yet.

Ryan is warming the pine
The right back spot is uncertain - perhaps Williams if/when he gets fit
Sainsbury is doing OK for Zwolle
The other centre back spot is uncertain - perhaps Wright who plays in England's third tier
The left back spot is uncertain - Smith looks promising but he's still not cemented in the Liverpool squad
Kruse is getting limited minutes
Jedinak's position looks shaky and could be transferred
Rogic is doing OK at Celtic but still not cemented his spot
Milligan is Milligan and will always be a hack
Leckie is playing at a high level and consistent
Cahill is nearly 100 years old
Juric is showing promise at Roda

So as you can see other than a few players no one is playing consistently at a high level in Europe. There's plenty of talent in the pipeline but it's always been that way, it's much harder to go from having loads of potential to actually fulfilling it.
I think probably in terms of our current depth and spread across the best leagues we are in no stronger position than the Holger period.

Cup matches for Bulut at 430am and Smith at 7am. Liverpool have Stoke so would be a good hit out if Smith gets 90
